The Boiler Room is very well hidden and quite a long way off the beaten track, located as it is at the far side of the jewelry quarter. It's probably a 25 minute walk from the centre of the city, so you'll want to take a cab. It's actually in the basement of The Big Peg.
In the day the Boiler Room doubles as a trendy vegetarian-based café, but it's at night when the place really comes to life, after it's transformation into one of the nicest, most chilled clubs in Birmingham. Firstly I should note that the place is rather small. The crowd is what really makes the place though. There's distinct lack of idiots, and no teenagers. It's a university students to late-20s set.
As an added bonus they have some classic arcade games (like starwars) down the corridor near the toilets.
Overall it's a must-see venue if you're spending much time in Birmingham, whether it be in the day for lunch as part of a tour around the jewelry quarter, or in the evening for a drink and a dance. read more
