Overall, my entire experience with Rolling Green Apartments was extremely negative. Myself, my…read moregirlfriend, and another couple were approved for a two bedroom townhouse but chose not to accept it because of the sketchiness of the office staff. We payed the credit check fee ($150 between the four of us) and applied for the apartment without hassle. We were told that we would here back from them within two days. Ten days later and we still had not heard back from them. We started calling several times a day after not hearing back in the first week and every call went to voicemail. None of those calls were returned. On the tenth day I took off work early and went into the office to speak with them. The lady that was in the office told me that sometimes it takes longer than expected. I told her that I would not put in my 30 day notice for my current apartment until I knew I had somewhere to live. She responded they would not change in move in dates (which was now supposed to be less than two weeks away) and it may be taking so long because we had not put in our 30 days notice yet. Thankfully, I never did that. Within an hour of leaving they called my girlfriend and told her the delays were due to us not putting in hour 30 days notice. I spoke to my current landlord (we are renting from a private owner who is managing the unit herself), who said she gave us a glowing recommendation. The following day I received a phone call saying that we were approved for the unit but, because all four applicants had bad rental histories, the deposit would be $1800 instead of $700. I know this to be untrue because they only asked for contact information for our prior two homes. We are on good standing with our current apartment, and the houses my girlfriend and I lived in before are owned by my aunt, who also gave us a shining review. I responded that I would talk it over and call her back. She said she needs to know within two days then hung up. I spoke to the other couple we were going to be renting with and found out that Rolling Green had called them as well and told them that the reason the deposit would be higher is all four applicants have poor credit. I also know this to be untrue. After hearing that,I checked my credit score to find that I have over a 700 and I make over $50k; which should have been enough to qualify on my own. It is my belief that they did not even run a credit or background check on us (either due to laziness, incompetence, or to pocket the credit check fee) and raised the deposit amount because I came into the office and hassled them. Had the office staff been up to par, I happily would have rented there. The apartments were nice and the location was great. However, with such bad communication and shady dealings, I would never again rent from a complex managed by them nor recommend them to anyone else.

I really do love the neighborhood (elementary school, park, bike/walking path with many resident ducks) and its proximity to grocery stores. Management has always been incredibly responsive to issues, whether it was a maintenance problem like a broken garbage disposal, or clearing up miscommunications on lease signatures. I also appreciate that they keep our packages safe in the office and out of the hands of porch pirates. My past experiences with apartments in Portland and Gresham have been that any time you needed to ask something of/or communicate something to management, it was best to prepare for a bitter, protracted fight about that thing (or to be ignored), so in that way this experience has been incredibly refreshing.

John has provided an honest and safe environment since day one. John has been extremely kind and helpful throughout this entire process. John takes great pride not only in these apartments but the surrounding area which makes me feel safe leaving my college student here. I was visiting my college student from out of town and John made us feel so very welcome and comfortable it truly felt like a home and family environment. I have never met anyone so committed to a community like John has been to this complex. I feel very safe leaving my young adult here and it's all because of John. John and Chris are on top of all the maintenance and making sure these buildings are safe and free from any bad element. He took one look at us, heard why we were there and told us that they had no availability. And he insinuated he didn't know who set up the tour or why they would have with no available units, but there continued to be in new postings in fact multiple new postings a day about their apartment complex. I was dressed nicely, my roommate had a ball cap on and casual clothes on; the only thing unusual is we were carrying some plants that we had bought while out shopping (fancy plants such as flamingo lilies, but they treated us like we were crazy and that there was no way we had set up a tour and there was no units that would be available soon.
