Apparently, many people knew, because Karma has been around since 1970, and it's the oldest record store in Indianapolis. OK! I'm obviously late to the game. Usually, I visit record stores just to browse, but this time, I visited to find a specific album. But when I asked the kind people behind the counter to look up the album for me, I found out the album that I had in mind was actually out of print! So I could order it online, but it would cost like five hundred dollars or some obscene amount. The helpful people at Karma offered to order other albums by the same artist. But I didn't want that, and instead just browsed the selection of records that Karma. There are a lot of records here. Surely, if you're not dead set on a specific out-of-print record like me, you will find something here. They also have CDs. And the cool people at Karma are willing to order whatever you want (assuming it's not out of print), and it will show up at the shop a few days later. Man, you didn't ask, but this place smells like incense, I tell you what. Which is appropriate, I guess, because they sell incense here. I just mention in case you're sensitive to incense.

The last time I went in to sell, it did take a few minutes to get an employees attention to check my items in, but it wasn't a super big deal. I'm sure as time goes on and they're able to get more staff on, they'll be just as awesome as the location in Castleton. I'll definitely be back soon. I've been a regular at their other location for a few years and I'm glad to see them expanding (and opening up a place closer to where I live).

They didn't know how to test my two original nes consoles. Full review- I have been to this store a few times over the years since it has opened. In the passed week I have gone twice. Both times everyone has been friendly and every item I look at seems to be fairly priced compared the deals I could get somewhere else. The only downsides I have found so far is when I sell items. I brought in 3 consoles, 8 pop figures, 3 box sets, and a game. They started on my items right away but spent more time in the next hour and a half helping other people and running a second register than inspecting my items I was selling. The only other thing is the knowledge of the people they have inspecting the items. I was selling two original nes consoles which I knew worked but they told me they didn't work. I watched them test the first one and it was clear they didn't know how it was supposed to work. They plugged it in and turned it on, watched the screen flash for about 5 seconds, turned it off and unplugged it. No working with it to get the game to work like you are supposed to do. I explained that is how these consoles have always worked for everyone. The whole blowing in the cartridge and moving it in the system to get the game to work. They told me they never heard of anything like that. They were younger so I'm just assuming they have never played one before so they just need some training.

There were alot of books to choose from. we were all able to find something . After which we went in to take a look around. They had a wonderful selection of childrens books, rare books as well. Its a medium sized spot but they fit a childrens corner in. I was pleased to find vintage Richie Rich and Sugar and Spike comic books for 1.00. This was certainly a wonderful place to stumble upon which had alot of gems inside. The vintage type writers were a really cool touch as well. Everything about this place was inviting and warm. At the cash register I came across an assortment of stickers and if you know me, you know I love stickers..Of course I grabbed a couple to complete my purchase. There is a space right by the door that has a sitting area, the leather chair was so comfortable but it was thw huge leather ottoman for me and the chess set that makes you wanna learn to play, if you do t already no how too. And for vinyl they've got local artists, popular music and old vintage stuff as well! They also have a cool corner with art in the back and in the first room they have a bunch of cool art in drawers. They allow local artists to each have a drawer for their work and I just think that's SO cool!! They're queer friendly and definitely feel like a safe place! At one time had a donation box for menstrual products but someone destroyed it and I'm not sure if it's still there but they're just a great small business in Irvington that really adds so much to our community!
