My office stones :)

TBO is a quaint boutique situated on Ditmars Blvd with such charming and curious items. I've been a fan of the store these past few years and have made a number of purchases from stylish women's shoes to amazing scented candles and lovely jewelry. More recently, I have been drawn to their stones and have found and purchased such lovely ones here! Definitely a great place to stop and take a look. I never want to leave when I'm here! Not to mention their customer service is top notch which makes the experience all the better. Ah - I forgot to mention one very important detail! Did you know that this is a woman-owned small business which is so encouraging and empowering! As an Astorian, I can attest that TBO is a beautiful addition to our lovely neighborhood in so many ways. Thank you! Also, I wish the word "Astoria" were somehow weaved into the name, something like "Astoria's Brass Owl" :)

Cool vibes at third privately owned business. Everything is unique here and the staff is super friendly. Bought a super cute clutch and a pair of flats. Mera's Tip: shop Astoria

No matter what you're looking for, The Brass Owl, has something perfect. Love shopping small here!

Adorable store with quirky, weird, and unique items that will entertain anybody. Jewelry, aprons, shoes, lotions, candles, bags, home goods, baby goods, and more. It's kind of like a thrift shop, but everything is nice and new. What's more is that they have a few events per month that are really fun and interesting. I found the clerk kind of cold once she realized I wasn't going to buy something. I was just happy to be exploring a new Astoria boutique, but maybe I'll purchase an item next time.

This shop is a great addition to Ditmars - I stopped by shortly after they opened, and was very impressed by the selection of jewelry (much of it made by local designers too) as well as creative greeting cards, candles, books, and ladies' shoes. And the staff was very friendly and charming! It's nice to see new stores as thoughtful as this one opened by people who actually live in the neighborhood too. I was just planning to browse on my first visit, but one beautiful necklace caught my eye and I ended up purchasing it. When it unfortunately broke the first time I wore it, The Brass Owl's owners were so kind enough to replace it for me! You wouldn't get that kind of customer service at a big department store. I will definitely keep coming back to see what new treasures they get in stock, and will recommend this shop to all my Astoria friends.

Great stuff

Great shop with lovely books for kids and student. Unique finds of all kind. Awesome customer service and great in-house deals. But this place is great for gifts, teachers and practical items.

An eclectic mix of clothing, shoes and accessories, I'm in LOVE with this addition to the Astoria landscape. The ambiance is sooooo calming and the atmosphere is welcoming. Also, the Astoria-themed trinkets and accessories and are great addition the merchandise mix. Will definitely be visiting this store again soon!

my new favorite hat!!

A new store opened on the block, and the grand opening was on Dec. 10th. This is one of their…read morenewest store locations, since they're sprouting up like wildflowers. This store used to be a clothing store for over 20 years and the location has a basement floor (mostly for inventory storage), besides the first floor. The shop itself is of a rectangular shape, and most of the merchandise are on the first floor. They carry mostly imported goods from China and most of the inventory just screams cute, adorable, and girls will love it. So it's perfect for guys that needs a one stop shop to make their girlfriends happy (especially teenagers). I actually saw someone buying this giant bear that's almost his own height. There's a ton of stuffed animals, hair/cell/and beauty accessories, cup sets, beauty products (scents, beauty tools, make simple makeup items), stationary ... Like cute puked on their shelves and everything just makes a little girl want to buy stuff. And there's more ....... They take credit cards with no minimum. And I heard two Spanish speaking staff members (so don't worry, that's an implied requirement to do business on this block.) But you do still get the occasionally non-English speaker that only speaks Mandarin and they will call another staff to assist you. However, no refund or exchanges so shop carefully. The biggest thrill for me was finding a 10 in one pen.... it's a personal weakness. And then buying their biggest printed tote bag of cuteness for like 18cents. (A bag I didn't mind paying for and actually wanted to pay for one to take home. It does come in varies sizes, but you get to pick.) And the staff does ask you if you want a bag beforehand; So, you won't just find an extra charge you said no to afterwards, like a lot of stores are doing now since the plastic bag ban. (Yes, it's a big peeve for me with that crap, especially when I have my own bag on me) . Double win in my book lol Extra info. : This is def. a Chinese owned and operated business. They're actually opening up a lot of locations in New York (Soho, Queens Mall and Junction Blvd. (Elmhurst locations), The Mills Mall, at Jersey Garden, NJ and they're expanding even further across the country; It seems like they're trying to be the Chinese version of Japanese Muji. The inner business structure is relatively new and have not fully acclimated as a chain franchise in the US.

The store is clean and well organized. It consists of the following products: fashion jewelry,…read morepurses, and shoes. They actually do managed to fit a lot into the relatively small space. The store is well lit, so you can see the jewelry well. The fashion jewelry is priced between $5.99-$12.99, although they do have a sales rack with some stuff for $1.99. All their jewelry is arranged by color. A lot of it looks cheap and/or tacky (think Forever 21), but if you take some time and look things over, there are some good finds to be had. The purses are expensive though. They run from about $100 - $200! Which I think is pricey for the neighborhood, but I guess we have enough places in Jackson Heights where we can buy purses for $10. It's always good to have some variety. I can't say much for the shoe department, as I wasn't interested, but it did look like they had quite a variety of sandals, since summer is approaching. One last thing: it helps if you can speak Spanish at this location. Oh, and you need to spend a minimum of $20 to use your card (I know, kinda steep).

I've been addicted to this Queens only Primma Donna accessories chain store for quite some time…read morenow. This store has an array of girls accessories ranging from bracelets, earrings, necklaces, rings etc. In addition the store sells bags such as Jessica Simpson, and Guess. My main complaint of this store is 3 fold. First Primma Donna can be overpriced. I remember picking up a bracelet priced at $25.00 and it wasn't a high-quality costume jewelry for me to spend on it like that. Second in the summertime they have a habit of not putting on the A/C and I will not set foot in a joint in NY if I can't shop comfortably. Thirdly and this may be total preference the shop-girls here have a habit of blasting Latin music. I don't mind but if you are the type that likes to shop in low or no music it might get on your nerves. Other than that I enjoy this place. However it has become the dumping site of all the throw-a-ways from the Primma Donna location on 82nd street.
