The hamburger was large, but very bland. No seasoning salt or anything. The fries cost extra and they were tasteless. I put a great deal of salt and ketchup on them and was still wanting more flavor. A very disappointing experience to drive that far and not enjoy the food. Burger with fries cost $14.50. At that price point I expected more.

She chose this and so thankful she did. It is excellent. Okay, so let's set the picture. Coming up from Pulaski, I was taken down a 2 mile long 1 lane road. Then onto one that was slightly wider. Come around a corner and there are tons of cars parked along the railroad tracks. Must be the place. They are known for their steak. Please note, this is not a high end restaurant, so you are not getting wagyu or prime, but it is better than a recent high end steak house I visited, for about 1/8th the cost, so foodies are welcome here. Campbell Station is a place that was originally a train station. It now has some "store" items, mostly branded with the store's logo,old pix on the wall, and a handful of tables alongside of a semi-open kitchen. There is another room to the left. When we got there, there were 2 tables in the front room and we were promptly seated. My understanding is an hour later, we would have been waiting a long time. The menu is not huge, but covers the basics, as well as steak, frog legs, and other items you don't normally find in a country spot like this. Jennifer came over and served us (and I would highly recommend her if you are not sure what server to ask for). She was very accommodating and served our every need. We opted to split the steak, as I heard it was huge. Not wrong. If you look at the pic, you will see this thing is huge. It is done over a grill and nicely seared. The temp was a perfect medium rare. Green beans are done with ham, as are the white beans, New potatoes also nicely done, although these are pretty basic. Waiting for food, we met Hellen, who I can best describe as the restaurant's mascot. She told us the story of the building, pointed out different things in pictures, and gave the background on the owners. Definitely adds color to the entire experience. We ended with blackberry cobbler. This is a traditional cobbler with ice cream on top. Sweet, but not overly so, beautiful cobbler crust, and I should ask whose ice cream they are using, as it had a nice mouthfeel and flavor and complemented thecobbler well. Insider tip we found out: If you buy one of their shirts and wear it, you get a free dessert every time you visit. We WILL be back.

This place is truly in the middle of nowhere, no cell service, no Wi-Fi, and not much around it. But wow, what a hidden gem! The food here is absolutely delicious. My favorite dishes are the country fried steak, turnip greens, and fried banana peppers. The steak is also very good, and my husband absolutely loves their cheeseburger. We've been back many times since our first visit and have never been disappointed. The restaurant is always clean, and the service is excellent. Everyone here is so friendly and welcoming. One small thing to note is that the booth seating can feel a little tight, especially during busy times. We usually prefer sitting at a table because there's more room and it's more comfortable. And if you're addicted to your phone, I probably wouldn't recommend coming here! There is no Wi-Fi, and cell service is limited. Instead, you get to do something we don't do enough these days, talk to the people you came with and enjoy each other's company like the old days. :) I honestly love it here and will keep coming back. If you're looking for great food, friendly people, and a slower pace of life, this place is definitely worth the drive.

They're remodeling everything, including the restaurant, which now looks beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Every item on the menu was appealing, and what we ordered was absolutely delicious. I love trying dishes you don't usually find elsewhere, so my daughter and I took a chance--and we're so glad we did. We started with the Duck River Dumpling (you can see the full description in the menu photos I took from their website). I highly recommend them--they're truly scrumptious! The house-made strawberry pepper jelly was so good, I actually asked if I could buy some to take home. I was co-hosting a baby shower for my daughter in a few days, and I thought it would be perfect served over cream cheese. It ended up being a huge hit--I made sure to give all the credit to the chef and encouraged our guests to visit the restaurant themselves. I even heard other customers loved it so much that the chef might start making extra to sell on-site. We also ordered the Pepper Jelly Crunch hamburger, which was just as tasty. Despite sharing both the appetizer and entrée, we left more than satisfied--definitely not hungry! We can't wait to go back. We live about 30 miles away, but we'll make a point to stop in whenever we're in the area. I should also mention they're building a five-star hotel, and there's a fantastic exhibition space showcasing the local Duck River area. Once everything's complete, I can see people traveling from all over to visit the state park. In the meantime, locals and nearby visitors should absolutely make time to dine here whenever possible. If I lived closer, this would definitely be my go-to spot for meeting friends--the bar area is really nice, too. Oh, and one more thing: my daughter loves flavored teas but didn't see any on the menu. She asked our waitress if she could possibly get one, and she kindly offered to whip one up herself. It was Peach flavored, and it was so good that my daughter asked for a refill! One more thing. We asked if the fries were made in-house.
