Stopped at Southern Fare...a Meat & Three in Shelbyville. Sat at the counter and Kim got me set up...very sweet lady. Saw some things pass by out of the kitchen and the onion rings really caught my eye so I went for the Country Fried Chicken with double mashed and a side of the onion rings. Solid meal...real mashed potatoes, tender juicy chicken, and LOVED the fried cornbread. The onion rings were awesome, love the light breading and the onions still had their "bite"...great flavor! What I really liked about the meal served, it was not overly seasoned or salty. Everything I saw delivered to various tables looked absolutely delicious. All of the folks here were so welcoming and Kim took excellent care of me. Chatted with the owner Randy and you could tell he is very proud of this place...as well he should be. I live in town but had never seen this place before (or perhaps never noticed it because if has such short hours daily and is closed on Saturdays. But my sister was in town and found it on Yelp. Let me tell you! Best fried catfish and fried shrimp I've had anywhere in Middle Tennessee (outside of my own home). The fried pork chop was delish. The broccoli slaw and green beans (two things I usually don't eat) were superb and the fried cornbread was excellent! The fried chicken salad was also really really good, as were their fried onion rings. I just looked on their site and saw they are open on Sundays so I am super excited for them to open. It's a bit like that old Target commercial with the person waiting at the front for it to open saying, "Open. Open. Open." I'm hungry just thinking about that fried catfish! read more

I brought my coworkers here for a work lunch. The menu has enough to offer that everyone found something they liked, and no one left hungry. Always a daily special. Best meat and two I have ever had. They're only open 3 hours a day for lunch which is probably why everything is served fresh and hot. It is located in a small hole in the wall building that has been home to many other businesses in the past. Probably can't seat more than 30 at a time. I had the country fried steak with Mac n cheese and the perfectly breaded and crispiest fried okra. Not your typical soggy under fried that you would receive from others. I ordered through Doordash to have lunch delivered to my work. The directions for the Doordash dasher were to text me upon arrival so that I know they are there. The Dasher called instead of texting (which we are NOT allowed to be on our phones at my place of business, whereas i can just see the text and run down). When i informed the girl that they were to text not call and that she could have gotten me in trouble at work she replied, "Next time i can just leave it on the ground". Needless to say... if i experience service like this again... i will no longer be doing business with Doordash OR its affiliates.
