My kid said that if it wasn't for the this school she would still have trouble with reading. What a great school.

We feel confident that the school is not only supporting her academically, but also teaching her in a way that works best for how she learns with dyslexia.

So what can I say about AISD???…read more My mom and myself grew up in this education system. We both actually graduated from the same high school. The demographics have changed drastically since I went there and when my mom attended. The one thing I can say about this school district is you don't have to try that hard to succeed. I was able to get top 2% of my graduating class just due to the sheer number of people. Since college acceptance is based on this percent tile, I was very happy to be here. The drawbacks of this school district are the fights and the crime rates. I remember back in school there was a fight almost every day. And some times there would be multiple fights at the same time so the police couldn't respond to both at the same time. I remember my last few years we got metal detectors installed. All in all I would not put my children through the same system. It was an experience I would never take back since I was exposed to a very diverse population early on. This made my transition for college much better. Where else can you have pro football players, pro basketball players, Grammy winning singers, and drug deals all at the same place? I'm a 13-year-old student at Memorial Private School in Houston, and because it's a small school,…read moreit's easy to get to know people quickly and feel comfortable from the start. Academically, there's a strong focus on **memorization**, but in some subjects we also do **projects**, which adds some variety. We usually take **five classes**, so when exams come around it feels **more manageable** to plan your studying, since you're balancing fewer subjects at the same time. Even though the school is small, the **6th period (electives)** has a nice range of options, including creative classes and sports like **martial arts** or **pickleball**. One thing I would improve is **Spanish**: if you already speak it, the class can end up being mostly **tests**, and you don't always get the chance to work on material that actually helps you improve.

My experience with this school was extremely disappointing. The values and mission promoted on the…read moreschool's website did not match what I observed during my time there. The educational program lacked rigor and failed to provide the level of academic challenge and support that students deserve. I was particularly concerned by what appeared to be a greater focus on financial gain than on student development and educational excellence. Rather than fostering a positive learning environment centered on student success, many decisions seemed driven by business interests. Communication was often lacking, and concerns raised by families were not addressed in a meaningful way. The overall atmosphere did not reflect the professionalism, integrity, or commitment to education that the school publicly advertises. Based on my experience, I would encourage prospective families to thoroughly research the school, ask detailed questions about academic expectations, and speak with current and former families before making a decision.

When one of my three daughters was dismissed just as she was starting to have trouble with her grades, it felt clear that once they decide they no longer want a student there, there's little room for understanding or grace. My oldest daughter actually graduated from this school, which is why I fought so hard to keep the other two enrolled. After spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on this school, I would have expected a much higher level of care, compassion, and support from leadership at the time. Hearing about hints of discrimination within the school community is also deeply troubling and disappointing.

The environment--both for students and teachers--shifted in a way that many families, including ours, found concerning. The biggest issue was the inconsistency and lack of genuine warmth. While the school often emphasized values and faith, the leadership's day-to-day actions didn't match those messages. Interactions frequently felt insincere, and there was a clear pattern of favoritism. Some children were approached with patience and grace, while others received a noticeably harsher tone for the exact same behaviors. As a parent, this was heartbreaking to watch. We also noticed a sharp increase in turnover among both families and lower school teachers during their leadership. When people continue to leave year after year, it naturally raises questions about the internal culture and what may be happening behind the scenes. In the end, we chose to move our child because the environment no longer felt supportive to their well-being, confidence, or growth. My hope is that by sharing our experience, the school will take a closer look at its leadership and the culture that's being shaped under their direction.
