Purchased an item. It was defective. I returned to the store three minutes later because I noticed it was defective as soon as I walked outside. They refused to give me a refund. They offered me a store credit, but I would obviously never shop there again. Horrible customer service. read more

My mother, cousin, aunt, and I stopped into this cute shop after seeing a lovely star lantern on the display window. However, the charm of the store is ruined by the RACIST customer service. In 2024 I am shocked that I was followed throughout the shop, and understood the lack of greeting and judgmental face we received was a micro aggression. The sales associate hovered over us as we shopped without saying a word. I am absolutely disgusted, hate has no place in Park Slope or anywhere for that matter! Tarzian West, located 2 blocks over on second street offers a much more lovely shopping experience. I suggests customers go there and not here. read more

Small boutique neighborhood gift shop with some quality gift options - if a bit heavy on the candles and picture frames. The general staff is lovely and helpful, but the owner is absurdly pushy in a hard-sell fashion that makes you feel like if you're not careful, you're going to walk out owning a timeshare. I'll literally walk by and try my shopping luck elsewhere if I see her in there. read more

I thought the variety here was a little sparse, but they do have a nice selection of purses (all sizes). Pricey, unsurprisingly....the woman working there was pleasant, although a little pushy (I finally had to tell her I was just browsing). The store is open daily from 11-7. (Update on 11/13/16): I went there today after a lengthy absence and the same woman (probably the owner) was again very pushy. Since it's a very small store, I won't bother returning because her behavior is annoying. read more

I received a beautiful necklace, bought by a friend at Lumiere. I love it! A couple of months later it broke (not a defect-- it got caught on something.) I went to the store and asked if they had someone who did repairs or could recommend someone. When the lady could be bothered, she glanced up at me and said, "No." They have so many cute things -- I had planned to buy something while I was there. TERRIBLE customer service. read more

I like this shop; for a long time it has been my goto for gift fluffing. You know, last minute stocking stuffers, or extra birthday bling. It is a mix of sort of kitschy stuff-- you know, kitchen stuff shaped like chickens, or candles that smell like incense of whatever-- & nicer things, like mid-priced jewelry & glassware. Very pleased with Lumiere in Park Slope. On September 17, 2015, I bought a beautiful leather bag (and other leather items) created by the company "mywalit". 3 months later the strap broke away from the bag. I was so surprised and sad. A well made bag should not have such a mishap within 3 months, especially since I was so careful with not putting much in the bag...it seemed quite delicate. Peggy and Megan who run this charming shop that has beautiful, well made products, were both supportive so I requested that the bag either be repaired or replaced. They spoke to Mywalit, returned the bag to them. I am pleased to say that a new bag, same color and style, was handed over to me today. Great store with a lot of unique pieces! Lots of variety. A nice collection of leather and fabric bags. I have bought many things from there and they never disappoint. The prices are a bit high but its give or take affordable. There are two lovely people who work there and are very helpful. Overall a great shop with good staff. read more
