She raised her voice when I calmly said it was too big when I tried it on. This was just two weeks before my wedding, and she said she was too busy to fix it, then suddenly had time after my sister-in-law called on my behalf. She then lied about the price she was going to charge me to fix her own mistake and then raised it. I paid her the initial $800 she asked for, which I regret so much. Spoke to Melinda and the situation was accommodated. Bought my dress from Luv Bridal and was recommended The Bride's Tailor. I needed the straps tightened and moved in and some beads put on. I needed the dress hemmed fairly because I decided not to wear heels and I am 5'3. The price was a good deal! It was about an hour away from me but was worth the price and reviews. I DID NOT GET A BUSTLE! Too much dress and I did not like it, maybe the back of the dress way too big and hid the beautiful aplicase. I had to short but great consultations, first to pin everything and second to check it and take it home. I also tried the dress on multiple times at home. It fit amazingly! Come to my wedding day and I put on the dress and feel a prick. The top layer in my lining was all still pinned and not hemmed. We had to safety pin the whole top lining so I could walk. Very inconvenient and disappointing. Thankfully I had people who could pin it and thankfully had pins. It wasn't horrible but I did trip a lot and had to fix it a few times. Next day I reached out to Melinda and she felt really bad a refund me a 1/3 of the cost. But unfortunately my dress is still not done. Moral of the story, check for pins. read more

She is so kind and skilled at what she does. I was forever recommend her to all brides! Working with Melinda was fabulous. My wedding dress needed to be hemmed, a bustle needed to be created and the top part of my dress needed to be fitted because it was too big. I also had brought my rehearsal dress in to be hemmed and have the straps tightened. The entire experience was flawless. I loved that she had a separate part of her house and it was very professional. Melinda was a great communicator and we got to know a lot about eachother. I could tell she cared about what she does. Both dresses turned out great and she created an amazing bustle that allows the dress to go underneath which looks gorgeous with my dress. Melinda is phenomenal! If you are looking for high quality work at a great price, look no further - Melinda is your gal! She is professional, sincere, communicative, and extremely talented! As you can see in my photos, my wedding dress had a lot of appliques and beading at the top of the dress. When I went in for my fitting, she had pinned the sides of my dress to take it in a little, and she was super confident about her ability to make the appliques flow as if the dress wasn't altered there. When my mom, sister, and I picked up my dress, we were in AWE! Her alterations were so seamless, and she had every right to be as confident as she portrayed - truly incredible/impressive! I have to start by saying Melinda is incredible. Her customer service as well as her craft is unmatched. I was a destination bride and when I first got my dress there was issues and she is the SOLE reason I received another. She advocated for me and made it happen. She also adjusted her schedule to make my alterations work once the new dress came in because I was having to fly in scheduling ahead was difficult as there were many unknowns. I never felt stressed because she was so confident and professional I was not worried about the dress or her craft. She is incredibly thoughtful and added things to my dress that kept me from having to pull it up over and over again, I could dance and wasn't worried about it falling down and she even made me multiple detachable sleeves. My favorite being the bow sleeves. I called them my "party" sleeves. All in all I would recommend her to anyone anytime. My experience with Melinda went downhill quickly and unexpectedly. I reached out to Melinda in June to inquire about alterations for my wedding dress, and I immediately let her know that I was 8 weeks pregnant and would be about 7 months along at the time of my wedding. I sent pictures of the dress upon request, and Melinda responded with multiple ideas/suggestions for how we could alter the dress and accommodate my growing belly and bust (such as shortening the bodice, opening up the area on the outside of the cups and adding tulle to it, etc.) She was very confident in her skill set and her ability to make the dress fit my bump come October, which in turn gave me the reassurance to move forward. She asked me to wait until closer to October for a fitting, so we could see what kinds of alterations would definitely be needed. I met with Melinda on September 6th, and again, she gave me a great deal of reassurance about my dress and said she could alter it and make it fit my growing bump. She said she would text me about a week before the dress would be ready for pick up to ask for an updated waist measurement, and she reassured me that regardless of any additional changes that might be needed, I would go home with my dress at the next appointment and we would make everything work. Melinda never did text me for my waist measurement, but I went ahead and sent it to her 5 days before our next appointment. Nine hours later, she called me and told me my waist had gotten too big. She said she could no longer alter the dress as agreed upon and asked me to come in again just to be sure. I drove an hour to go see her, and the dress hadn't been touched. I put the dress on, and she shook her head repeatedly, saying I had grown more than what could be accommodated. Melinda knew exactly how far along I would be at this point, and she had never indicated any concern about being able to alter my dress accordingly. Any reassurance she had previously given me was ripped away in an instant, just one week before my wedding. Feeling completely defeated, I gave up on my dream dress and shopped around for a deal on another dress to wear instead. Melinda built my hopes up just to completely let me down within a week of my special day. It seemed to me that she had forgotten about my dress and didn't want to put in the work when she realized my pregnant belly kept growing. I felt so much worse when I took my second dress to a different person for a hem, and this person asked to see my first dress (out of curiosity) - she looked at the original dress and said that she could have made it work. This really reinforced what I had thought from the get go - Melinda procrastinated, didn't want to do the work, and placed the blame on me and my body a week before my wedding. I would never recommend Melinda to anyone else, and I hope no one else in my situation has to experience what I went through or feel the way I felt. read more

Melinda is absolutely wonderful and is a true artist! My gown was completely beaded and so a traditional bustle would not work. I also was changing my shoes between the ceremony and reception which was nearly a 4-5 inch difference. She made a special bustle so that the train would "fold" under the dress and appear to be that length always. Not only was her work impeccable but she was able to work within my tight timeline.
