When I was getting directed to my seat they pointed to where I had to go but I wasn't sure if that was the right aisle. When I asked again the usher gave me attitude and told me to ask someone else. Bad start. The play itself is just ehh. The acting wasn't great although Jeff Daniels did a great job playing Atticus. But everyone else wasn't into character in my opinion and it wasn't much like the original book/movie. I expected more action and better acting. 2 hours and 35 minute play which could've been shorter with the story line they were providing. I wouldn't recommend it.

The Book of Mormon follows two misguided missionaries sent to Uganda, where they get a bit creative with their message in order to convert the skeptical locals. For some of us, this is a repeat performance since 2019, when my partner, his family, and I scored some tickets for yesterday's matinee in row B in the center mezzanine level with an amazing view. Located on West 49th Street in Manhattan's Theatre District, the Eugene O'Neill Theatre boasts a seating capacity of approximately 1,108 seats, divided between the orchestra and mezzanine levels. Even though the line to get in stretched around the block, it was a quick process. By having staff stationed along the street, it was nice to have the bag security checks done before getting to the door. Don't let the fairly plain exterior of the theater fool you; the interior is one of the more lavishly decorated theaters. As it's one of the smaller Broadway venues, seats are known to be on the smaller side; taller patrons may want to select aisle or front-row seats. The actors' performances were outstanding, showcasing their talent and dedication to their roles. Their delivery of the comedic elements was impeccable, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the overall experience. It was phenomenal, start to finish.

Extremely disappointed with the security staff outside the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. On July 26…read morearound 3:30 PM, I was walking my leashed dog past the venue. My dog is currently on prescribed anxiety medication (Fluoxetine) and is extremely sensitive and reactive to loud noises/triggers. My dog briefly sniffed the queue line tape. I immediately called him to "come," and he obeyed, turning to walk away peacefully. Out of nowhere, one of the four security guards on duty aggressively stomped his foot right at my dog to intentionally terrify him, causing my dog to panic and bolt toward Midtown traffic. To make matters worse, the guards literally LAUGHED at my dog's frightened reaction. Intentionally triggering and intimidating a reactive, leashed pet for entertainment--especially when the dog was already peacefully leaving--is malicious and unacceptable. Theater management must address this guard's conduct immediately.

Every actor brought so much energy, emotion, and charisma to their role, making it impossible to look away. The vocals were outstanding, and the chemistry among the cast made the story even more engaging. The stage design was incredibly creative, seamlessly transforming scenes while immersing the audience in the world of the show. The lighting, projections and special effects were impressive and the sound effects created many jumping moments for me. Overall, it's a coming of age horror comedy and the production is an absolutely thrilling. It's visually stunning and packed with unforgettable moments. I left the theater completely wowed and would happily see it again.

The musical performances of each actor and actress is absolutely phenomenal and mesmerizing to say the least. Such great, talented people! During the livehigh-energy performances of "Have to Have You" and "Lose Yourself" from the entire cast, it reminds me so much like an actual rock concert with the live band in between the musical. The two floors plus the furniture inside depicting the family house on stage are very detailed with antique finds in the different multi-story sets. Since small but charming and aesthetic details can really help to convince and persuade the audience that the storyline has indeed occurred during the late eighties era. I'm most amazed by the staging + production design + lighting + stage magic from The Lost Boys more than the storyline itself. Didn't get reeled in from the great chemistry and great acting between the characters even though those factors are just as important. The motorcycle chasing and high-flying scenes are what made me as a part of the audience really fascinated by the whole production. I find those parts to be the main highlights and attractions of The Lost Boys. I am most impressed by the vocals of actress Shoshana Bean who is playing Lucy (the boys' mom). She's singing her heart out and hitting all the high notes with such emotions and passion throughout the entire show. The lines of actor Benjamin Pajak playing Sam (the younger brother) is hilarious to the max. The audience can see that especially in the scenes where he argues and interacts with his older brother Michael (played by LJ Benet). The friendship between the Frog Brothers (Jennifer Duka + Miguel Gil) and Sam seems to be strong even though they haven't known each other for long. The comical acts and good chemistry from the three actors make it super fun to watch. Don't forget to do stage dooring after the show ends though! You can get your playbill signed by some of the cast when you wait for the actors to come out from the side door. Be sure to have your playbill/merch/posters and sharpies ready! Everyone from the cast is super friendly and lively. Overall, The Lost Boys is a great musical for everyone (mainly teens and adults) to see whether or not you have a liking of vampires or the late eighties era. It's a coming-of-age story full of love, laughter, family, perseverance, the switch from childhood to adulthood, identity and sense of belonging. Additionally, there may be some darker themes like child abuse, heartbreak, danger, trauma, domestic violence, murder, and family tension.

This is the second production I've seen from The Pearl Theatre Company, an off-Broadway company…read morethat specializes in classic productions from Shakespeare to Shaw, Moliere, O'Neill, Chekhov, and Sophocles. Both productions I've seen have been professional and engaging with well developed and dynamic characters, beautiful costuming and set design, all within an intimate theatre setting. Plays are performed at NY City Center whose box office is located off of W. 55th. The Bald Soprano was an excellent production! I don't normally go for absurd plays, yet TBS was exactly the right speed and length for me to remain engaged. At just over an hour there is no intermission so make sure you visit the WC before the play starts. The hour flies by with dialogue that flows quickly and, though it was very obtuse, has moments of clarity and commentary on the situations and conversations where we so often find ourselves. The show is entertaining and worth a stop - I don't know where else you'd see such a quality classic production so well directed. Oh - do yourself a favor and be sure to read the Director's Note in the program before the play starts. It really helps give the abstract play some helpful context!

We are introduced to external force (time and space) that can interact and influence a growing relationship that is challenging the couple and their forces. The music is great and the CAP21 Theatre gives you a on-stage view and feel as the actors and actresses run pass inches away from our faces. The story, a refreshing spin on the romance comedy and an interpretion of our own internal force mold our decisions and future. Run, there is only one more week left at the CAP21 Theater!

It is a smart show with a philosophical and scientific tone that is enhanced by humor, wit, heart, and original music that is expertly sung and played by the cast and two musicians. The 2.5 hours flew by because I was captivated by the engaging characters and intimate, magical setting. I am an avid theatergoer, and "The Artist & The Scientist" ranks as one of my most enjoyable theater experiences. Get tickets soon because this new musical only runs until 2/28/14 at CAP 21 Theatre.
