I just finished their Christmas show. I purchased a cabaret table for around 280 dollars so I could have a table to myself, but it did come with essentially bottomless drinks (with 50 dollar service charge). That being said, as drinks are only served prior to show and during intermissions, you're never gonna be able to consume enough alcohol to put them out of money--unless you're insane. The staff are awesome. Very kind and laid back and accommodating. The hostess/server was very attentive. She knew exactly who I was by my reservation, and I appreciated that. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The cabaret tables are fine. I would choose them over the middle seats of varying quality[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I've been to Company XIV multiple times. This is my first time to House of Yes and I have a ticket for a different show next month. I can appreciate House of Yes for what it is (thus the five stars). The show here seems less cohesive, more for shock factor, a lot more random dildos flying around. If I had to choose, Company XIV is smoother, more cohesive, a little classier with more ballet, glitter, and chiseled abs. But again . . . this is no knock against House of Yes. I'm going again next month. But you need to decide what you're going for . . . ballsy, bawdy, cheeky, then House of Yes. They also have different events and dance parties. Company XIV is more of an event. More curated. You go to see a show, the show ends, and you go home or out into the night. Will update when I see their variety show. We went to the Xmas Spectacular at the House of Yes on Sun, Dec 22, 2024, 6:00 - 9:00 PM in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn right after a show by Company XIV. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We enjoyed it, but it is a bit "wacky" and not overly professional.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The story line was silly and a bit hard to follow and hear at times, but it was still very fun and entertaining, overall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our favorite part was the two aerialists dressed as naughty nuns. That whole act and accompanying music was sexy AF![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a few people with extraordinary talent and several who are just having fun while performing, but don't necessarily have any formal training in anything (kind of felt like a community theater group or a group of like-minded friends performing).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is nudity, crude language and concepts, anti-religious, and politically progressive themes. We loved it, but it might bother your grandma. No kids allowed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We bought (2) "Premium Seats" for $213, inclusive of fees. I recommend getting the premium seats, but the theater is very small, so not necessary at all[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Take a look at my pics for perspective. There are signs on the seats denoting which are which and you seat yourself where you want within your level, on a first come, first served basis. Came to celebrate my birthday on a Friday night with the Dirty Circus. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Warm welcome when you walk in, they have a bar area to get drinks, nice area to wait in until the main room opens, and outdoor area to smoke and a coat check through the outside area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] $3 per coat for coat check. The drinks were approx. $18 each and were good. We got the VIP experience, $250 for the 2 person package and an additional $55 for the service fee that you pay at the end of the night. When they opened the doors for seating, they call in order of the package you paid for. We got called first into the room and got separate seating right next to the front stage, with a bottle of champagne and service from our host Jessica. She was great and made sure to keep the drinks flowing, they don't serve full meals but do sell popcorn which was part of our package. We paid for nothing there, everything was included in our deal. There is a stage in the middle of the floor where most of the performances took place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The experience is raunchy, sexual, impressive with the aerial performances, and fun![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a tub in the middle of the floor where they raffled tickets and the winner get to sit in it for the night. The couple who won were so excited and into the experience that they stripped down to their birthday suits, gave the audience and strip tease experience and visibly loved being in the soapy claw tub.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They offered a mix of burlesque, cabaret, acrobatics, singing, magic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were having such a good time that our phones never made it into our hands for pics or videos! I WAS ROBBED AND ABUSED BY STAFF MEMBERS THERE!!!!! I came to meet a friend here at House of Yes for an anniversary party celebration they were having. When I got there, there were a few random lines that were all over the place that was really confusing so I looked for a staff member to help me out. There was a guy working door there with glasses who told me it was sixty five dollars to go in but if I go online and buy a ticket, I can get it cheaper so I did. I found the event and showed him to make sure I was getting the right ticket and he said yes while walking away. When it came to getting my ticket scanned, he told me that my ticket was wrong and to get out the line. I didn't understand because I showed him on my phone, just moments ago the event and he said yes. He denied it and told me to leave and that I wouldn't get my money back. I asked security for a manager and this blonde woman with a silver jacket came out to talk to me and I told her what happened. When I showed her my ticket, she looked and said to me that maybe next time I shouldn't be so stupid and read the dates right before walking off. I'm dyslexic when it comes to actual numbers. I wouldn't expect people to automatically know that of course but I've struggled with it my whole life and it's not easy to tell people that. But that's why I showed the guy the ticket first to make sure before buying. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I walked off and went to the bar next door. House Of Yes is such a gorgeous place to attend an event. I went to a burlesque show there, several nights ago. The atmosphere was dark, velvety and vintage. Chairs were set up around the stage in a way that ensured that every seat was the best seat in the house. House Of Yes looks like it may have been a theater or play house in the olden days. It's nicely maintained and trimmed in so many gorgeously gawdy, lights and frills. There's an enclosed patio area that patrons are allowed to smoke in. There are also a few giant Roman statues out there to keep you company. I look forward to attending more events at this space. I didn't indulge in any of the bar offerings. I was told that the drinks are pretty weak, unfortunately. Still a great place to have a fun night. read more

I had heard of HoY for a while, and when I saw Glitterbox was coming to town I figured it was worth planning a trip. They released free tickets for early arrival, so we were there around 10:30pm and there was no line, even though there was already a few people inside. The venue is adorable, cute decor and lots of disco balls. They have coat check, and a few different areas. Bartenders were quick and nice, and sound was great. Plus the dancers were amazing. A great night, even if we left early. Plus side, great food trucks outside! read more

I'm very new to yelp and only made this account because something happened to my friend last night here at this venue and I feel it's important to make this known to others to be safe out there. I just moved to the city last month and still getting to know the Bushwick/Ridgewood area where i live. Last night, i met up with my friend from college to go bar hopping. On our last stop, we went to House of Yes. It was really busy, being a Saturday night but we had a really fun time inside. While there, my friend ran into this guy she knew from another bar down the street who was also a security guard working. His name was Andrew. I didn't know at the time but apparently a "transaction sale" was made during the night between them both before we left. I found out today that my friend fell into a very deep k-hole on her way home last night and was almost hospitalized. Apparently, she wanted to buy the opposite of what she was sold. Thankfully she is okay and her neighbors were there to help her and get the roommates involved too. So many things could have gone wrong but I'm so grateful it didn't. It terrifies me just even thinking about it. I personally am not a fan of any of that based off my family's history but I know this area is big on drugs and that my friend should have known better to do that but she thought it was okay because she knew him and even purchased from him before, along with a few other friends of hers while he was working. I hope this is a lesson learned on her part and for others out there. You never know who you can really trust when it comes to that. Apparently, he got fired from the other bar because of dealing and so now he's doing it at a new venue. PLEASE BE CAREFUL OUT THERE IF YOU EVER RUN INTO HIM! The fact that he's also security just makes it even more gross and disturbing and less safe of a supposed safe space venue. SARAH, the security guard is a predator!!!! I went to House of Yes last night for Futch, a lesbian dance party. I been a couple times before and met Sarah there. She was always so friendly and flirty with me. Last night I came with my new partner. As soon as we walked in, she was standing nearby and she looked angry seeing us together. The rest of the night, all I could feel were her eyes on me from afar. At one point, she passed by me and secretly caressed my ass. I felt very uncomfortable and asked my partner if we could leave right after. I didn't feel safe asking for a manager to report her as she's already a supervisor security there. We came to House of Yes for their Dirty Circus on a Saturday night. It was a great 2 hour plus intermission show. Our event was hosted by Pixel the Drag Jester, who was very funny. I loved her rendition of the wicked witch. The show was sexy and fun with performers who were incredibly talented and did some amazing stunts. My favorite part was the Aerialist duo, who performed twice during the show. The drinks were ok. I did like the Oaxacan drink and the frozen strawberry margarita. TIP: The popcorn was naked and bland if you don't use the butter and salt provided on the counter;) I loved the eccentric decor of the place and how they decorated the bathroom stalls. At times, they have different stalls in front. Today, it was a beauty bar. Other times, it has been a tattoo artist. After the show you can stay and dance in the club which becomes busy after 12am:) It has become more touristy after the New York Times article that it was the #2 party place at that time(I think around 2020). read more

Two employees alone are why I will not return to House of Ick. I had been excited to go to this club, hearing that it was queer friendly and welcoming. I went with a group. The security staff was hostile and UNWELCOMING. The guy checking ID cards questioned the fem presenting members of my group, claiming we needed to provide alternative form of identification. The male in our group only had to smile. We had already paid $30 each to access the venue online. We have proper ID's that scan. We are all 21+. Being harassed at the door was externally off-putting. Once we entered the club, the bag checker was incredibly rude and argumentative. These two employees alone are why I will not return to House of Ick. I will say, the bartender who served me was lovely. $20 drink, $5 tip. The drink was delicious. read more

Came here for the Halloween Dirty Circus and had such a great time! The show was creative with a touch of risque. The venue is great as always and the cocktails are surprisingly great! I am always skeptical of venue bar cocktails but these were up to par with some of the craft cocktails bars I have visited.I had the Oaxacan on Sunshine which is balanced but sweet leaning and not as spicy as one would think so don't let that deter you as well as another Caribbean cocktail whose name is escaping me but my friends were all pleased with their cocktails. A few tips, I made the mistake of getting there super early since it was sold out to secure a seat but they open the door an hour before showtime so you're only lining up to get into the venue not to access seats. The venue is small enough though that any seat should guarantee a good vantage point. Another tip is if you ask for a double make sure you specify you want double alcohol and not a drink that is double in size in a bigger cup. I thought asking for a double was a pretty standard thing but apparently not. Fun times are always had here so def worth a visit! read more

Literally all I did was extend my arm (didn't even say anything) and try to wave at the bartender to get their attention. How is this "aggressive"? I really don't understand what I did wrong. I didn't yell, in fact, I didn't even say ANYTHING, it was packed, I just waved with my arm. I still don't understand how that can be construed as "aggressive". The only reason I even stuck my arm out is because my whole body couldn't fit to the bar, the place was packed wall to wall. If me flagging down the bartender is "too aggressive" and warrants me getting kicked out, maybe the bartender shouldn't work in the service industry. They did not refund our cover charges. The performers and servers are amazing, the rest of the staff are unfeeling, arrogant jerks. Imagine this: buying a very expensive Cabaret table so your autistic husband- who was the whole reason you attended- could participate workout being overstimulated. Then imagine this: no clear communication about what expedited VIP entry means. When you arrive there are clearly two areas to line up, one with RED dividers. So perhaps, red, the universal language for first class/VIP, is the place to stand? No, a security guard comes out a yells in an angry voice, "There is only one line!" Ok, then the venue should communicate better and not have confusing visual cues. This was a splurge for us financially and to be humiliated when trying to take advantage of advertised perks was just terrible and demoralizing . But wait it gets worse; an ID was lost in the shuffle. We waited until the show was over to ask if anyone had found it,but because we didn't file out the door as expected,, we were treated disrespectfully and shouted at for being in the wrong space. I'm sorry, but this didn't live up to the organization's ideals of consent. Come one, come all to this haven for folx of all gender expressions, beliefs, ages, and cultures to party it up in Bushwick. This is their stated mission, and me and my band of freaks who I call friends can attest to how welcoming it has felt on the many nights we've closed this place down. Over the years I've attended themed nights, watched acrobatic performances, and live music shows and generally have a good time. At times I've felt my personal space encroached upon in overly assertive ways but it's hard to blame a venue for that, especially when you have so many people in one space. I've also encountered some unfriendly bouncers and door greeters/will call staff but if I put my empathetic hat on I can only imagine how tiresome working the door at a nightlife venue in Brooklyn can get. Lines can get insanely long for popular acts, so plan to be in the elements on some nights. Overall I'm quite happy a place like House of Yes exists. Their program may feature burlesque shows, drag nights, queer parties, and good old fashioned dance parties and tends to bring out a crowd I find more interesting than most of the venues in the city. Even in a place like New York you can't count on every place being a safe haven where self-expression is celebrated, and at House of Yes you can be your most authentic self and no one will bat an eye. read more

A very fun club experience, from someone who does not really enjoy club. This club is all about consent, which they make you check when you get tickets and they reiterate when you are there. This club is also very LGBTQ friendly, and felt so inclusive. We spent all of our time in the main club area. The energy, music and lights were great. The night we were there it did get very crowded at about 1:30, we could barely move. The drinks were fine, typical for what you expect from a club. read more

It was 90 degrees blazing heat without access to water fountains and you had to pay $6 for canned water or $2 extra for any "cup use". The only shade was inside the building for a $70+ VIP area(not including the $45+ tickets) - having to pay for shade in an outdoor event is elitist and out of touch. The security at this event was seriously aggressive and pushy - which is shocking for a pride event. I am deeply disappointed that HOY would fund an event like this with no regard to your patrons safety or wellbeing. read more

I had a small entanglement with my food order so I was ready to put my Karen's hat on but Alberto the manager professionally apologized and saved the day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was really cool, but I had an awkward moment at the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I accidentally hit 'skip tip' on the iPad while paying (I had already been drinking a little before coming), and the bartender near the entrance made a comment about tipping that felt a bit off and rude. I totally get that tipping is important, but the way it was said threw off my mood at the start. After that, I made sure to tip the other bartender inside $10 each of the four times he served me.
