Gifted my son drunk Romeo and Juliet for Christmas and went last nigh in the absolute freezing NYC. It was hilarious and clearly these are great actors because even after 7 shots of tequila the lead crushed it. Really funny, cast was absolutely amazing. STEPH JUDGEMENT: A great drunken party, with a side of Shakespeare. We got some discount tickets through a friend and it seemed like a theater experience right up our alley, as we are not theater people. The theater itself was small and guerilla-style, with seating around the room and the "stage" being the floor in the middle. We were offered a complimentary small cocktail upon arrival and were encouraged to drink throughout the night, as befitting the name of the production. The gimmick here is that one of the leads has to do 4 shots of vodka at the beginning of the play, and possibly 2 more shots during the performance, by the pleasure of the "king and queen" (2 people who opted to pay more $$ to sit in the special seats). The play of the night was Romeo & Juliet, and our Romeo dutifully downed the 4 shots and we were off to the races. All the actors play multiple parts, and everyone was great, we were especially impressed with the guy who played Mercutio and the priest, who had some amazing acrobatic moves and put the sexy in sexy priest when he doffed his habit to grind along to Ginuwine's "Pony", a la Magic Mike! During the performance there were some stopping points, where the king and queen rang a little bell and had Romeo drink some more, which they did. I mean, why wouldn't you? Needless to say, it was total mayhem, but it was really fun and we had a great time. If you're up for some very irreverent Shakespeare, this is for you. read more

Fun and delightfully chaotic. Drunk Shakespeare is a blast. The theater is small but it provides an intimate experience, allowing the actors to interact with the audience. Getting drinks and food is easy as there is a QR code on the chair leg you scan for orders, and service is quick. The concept is simple --one actor is chosen to take shots throughout the show while trying to keep on track of their performance in a Shakespearean play. Overall, an entertaining experience. Honestly disappointed by the misrepresentation of what this show is. I bought tickets for Valentine's Day, thinking this would be a mostly comedic take on Romeo & Juliet & ended up watching people play fight with dildos & other overtly sexualized gestures. This show was more sex than comedy which was also just not as funny as the reviews claim. The food was also meh, not a lot to choose from. The staff service was good but the bathrooms where were tiny & dirty. Honestly I'm disappointed & felt extremely misled by the other reviews & the description of the show in the fever app. I reached out for a refund & they denied & now I'm going through my credit card company to dispute the charges given the gross difference between what product was advertised vs the actual experience was. Ehhh the reviews were good on Google and yelp. It was $29 on Groupon. It wasn't that funny to be honest. they are lucky I didn't pay full price. I would've been totally pissed. Also the drinks were $20 and there was no liquor in it at all so this is just a ploy to get you to come by drinks at the bar. The lady comes around with the last call sign when it's almost over but why buy non-alcoholic drinks I don't think the actors are really drinking. Unless slapstick drunk humor is your type of humor, I wouldn't recommend this show with all due respect to the actors. I honestly am shocked actors would sign up to take multiple shots for the entertainment of the audience night after night - their poor livers! The best part of the show would be the environment. Another part features an auction to be "part of the show" - seriously do not fall for it. That's a positive start right there. The drinks are a bit pricey, but hey you are in New York so get over yourself and enjoy. There is drink service right to your seat throughout the show. There's also not a bad seat anywhere within the cozy little performance area. Finally the performers are just fun people enjoying what they are doing. Plenty of energy and plenty of laughs. Your ticket comes with a shot included ( it is drunk Shakespeare after all).I honestly did not remember Macbeth storyline since I read this ages ago in high school. I went with zero expectations, and it was honestly such a unique fun experience. Balcony seats are best in this small library theater,but that's my personal preference. Had the opportunity to see Drunk Shakespeare (NYC). Had lots of laughers and cheerfulness. Drunk Shakespeare consists of a group of fun, talented and great actors and actress. I felt as though they were my cool and chilled friends performing for me. I'd seriously liked how they'd engaged the audience as much as they can throughout the play. Haha! The fact that this play has been going strong for over 10+ years is a testament to how good it is! I needed to make last minute birthday plans and this was the PERFECT choice! This show is part play, part improv, and all parts AMAZING! I don't think I stopped smiling through the entire performance. The actors were fantastic and I was in awe of their ability to chug a beer, then perform a soliloquy and continue on the production. Had the chance to see this performance front row and it was so much fun. The venue is really small and intimate. Actors will literally perform in front of you, and interact with you, a LOT! So if you prefer to watch only, I wouldn't take the front seats. When doors open the host gives a welcome "shot" to every ticket holder, not really sure if there was any alcohol in it but tasted sweet and good. The drinks served at the bar are $18 / $20 each, we had the old fashion and the Manhattan and they were good but average. Probably a smarter choice would be to order wine or beer. Service was excellent! Definitely worth seeing the show, the cast is incredibly talented and during 90 minutes they'll make you laugh. read more

I know nothing about Macbeth or Shakespeare. However, I do recognize and throughly applaud raw talent. My brother unexpectedly gifted me two tickets to this show so I had no prior knowledge going in. WHAT A HOOT. There were many hilarious perfectly timed off the cuff jokes, great crowd work (and a fun crowd! You will make friends!), witty improv, a guitar solo Kanye mash up thing, and some truly beautiful and sobering monologues delivered with passion and grace. All of it made me feel lucky to be a NY-er and have this at my doorstep. Thanks so much to the amazing cast for loving what you do, letting it show, and bringing us all along for the ride. read more
