The Brownstone is a business that I've patronized since I first met owner Princess who actually had a brownstone on 5th Avenue. Now her beautiful store on 125th and 5th Avenue in addition to her smaller shop right next to the new Victoria Hotel is genius. Her staff there especially Jessie has been very kind and professional way with helping me navigate a previous order that was lost in the mail for awhile. I ordered an outfit for my mother in South Carolina years ago and had it sent to her directly from the store. Princess Jenkins, is the owner and she is very patient! The location feels like a living room in the sense that the customer can relax and not feel pressured into shopping. You have to be a LADY to wear these clothes because you will feel like a queen wearing them. Come prepared to receive honest and sincere feedback for the best outfits to wear. You can browse, try on without pressure, take your time considering the options and get great advice on what works on your body. I have shopped in The Brownstone on 3 or more times. Princess Jenkins is indeed a fashion wizard and can whip up a fashion vision for your occasion quicker than you can whip out your Visa card. If you are looking for an upscale, unique, and eclectic outfit ( nothing matchy matchy in this place) and have an idea of the look you are going for Princess will be at your service. That being said one little incident took place at the Brownstone that I must comment on. Make doggon' sure you really like and want to keep the items you purchase. Don't get caught up in the shopper's whirlwind that Princess can whip up around you. She is helpful but watch that impulse buying voice in your head. If you buy something at The Brownstone and change your mind no matter if you are a loyal customer ( which are harder to come by in this day of online shopping where you can buy just about anything) online) you are SOL. I am just saying a shop should be happy for you to buy and welcome the opportunity to keep you happy and coming back in this economic climate. read more
