Stopped in to the Bruce Bar and Grill for a late lunch while working in the area. Was surprised by the gorgeous view from the restaurant patio. Had the beef au jus and onion rings. The beef au jus is made with brisket and was quite good. Such a nice relaxing afternoon with good food. I would recommend. read more

This restaurant catered a wedding we were at the night before and we decided to go here, despite the 2.5 star rating (I am not sure what that's all about). Tonight I had the ribeye, medium rare cooked to perfection, we just hard to find! Taste was good to meet with Tinder, and our setting by the water was amazing. it's pet friendly! But it's limited seating (it's out at the patio and on the fourth row), dogs are secured/tied to fence. Definitely worth the wait. The food we had was delicious after a day at the beach. We got the salt and vinegar fish n' chips and a really burger with bacon jam and cheese curds. Food 3.5/5 Steak 3/5 -was well cooked (medium well done) but still bit chewy and dry. The onion ring served with it was great (rings 5/5). ordered Ceasar salad on the side, which came on same plate as the taco and was served Hot! Salad was warmed up thus soggy and gross. Saturday night: Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to actually eat here as it took 45min before we decided to walk out. Can't even review a glass of water as we didn't get one. Not a word from management or a server about what the issue was/how long before we can expect to see someone for a drink. Although, we put together the fact that they were severely understaffed and unorganized. Some other reviews suggest similar experiences. We waited almost 45 min for a salad and a bruschetta. I ordered a chicken salad and the chicken was ice cold. I asked the server and she said they just grilled the chicken which was very hard to believe. She took it for a reheat and came back with the same temperature. If I was not hungry I wouldn't even touch the salad. It didn't even look fresh. Bruschetta was cold too and very average in taste. A very expensive place for such a bad food and terrible service. Horrible food, even worse beer. I was disappointed in the menu to begin with for a lack of items. I decided to try the brisket sandwich. The sandwich was so gross and greasy I could only stomach maybe half of it. I also had a beer to go with my sandwich but that too was terrible. It had an awful smell and taste to it, I suspect they never clean their draft lines and that's what caused he bad taste. They got my money once but it won't happen again. We returned to the Bruce this year after a two year absence. It was still a wonderful place to have dinner. The Bruce has a nice patio over looking the lake, and a comfortable dining room and bar inside. While it bills itself as a steakhouse, there are other interesting items on the menu. Fish and chips may not sound that interesting, but they batter the fish with salt and vinegar potato chips and it's fantastic! read more

After several recommendations, we decided to check out The Bruce for wings The wings were all right. "Okay" was the word my husband used. There was no blue cheese or ranch dressing for the wings! Heresy. I had the fish and chips and it was excellent. The fish was the biggest piece I've ever seen in a single serving. And the batter was a mix of corn flakes (?) and potato chips (?) so it was super crunchy. Not NEARLY enough tartar sauce for such an epic serving. The kids menu is cute and the place was super child-friendly. The view is fantastic (the pier on Lake Huron - my fave lake). Overall, mediocre. Bring local there is not a lot of places to got out to eat around here. The one thing this restaurant has going for it is the patio, amazing sunset views. Each time we go I order a glass of wine and they give me a wet from the dishwasher... Yuck... I don't need dishwater with my wine. Literally the worst food Ive ever had. Service was fine, view of the lake was great but I left my entire main course for them to throw in the trash where it belonged. This past Sunday night of the Canada long weekend I ordered a New York Strip. It was all Grizzle. I couldn't even cut through it. The waitress asked how everything was and I told her I couldn't eat the steak. She looked down at the crime scene on my plate and said, "Oh, I'm sorry. I'll tell the chef." Then she returned with the bill and the full $29 for the steak. I asked why she was charging me for the meal. She said the manager told her I still had to pay for it. I told her I wanted the manager to come and tell me why I had to pay for a meal I couldn't eat. She went away and returned with a 25% discount for the steak - no cowardly manager - just this poor kid. I paid the bill because I didn't want to ruin dinner and a perfect sunset with my friends, or stress out this summer student more than she already was. They provide a great deck and perfect sunset view but they mail in the service with average food. Brutal. read more

Good service but we were told the Yorkshire Delight was big enough to share. There were 3 on the plate and all 3 different sizes (large to small). Not enough to share unless you're s very small eater. It arrived luke warm. Salad was good. The fresh cut fries were all small pieces, no large fries. Avoid any night when they have live music. It's too loud and the feature act alternates between mumbling and screaming. None of it is intelligible and ruins and otherwise good experience. I honestly wanted to tip him to stop. That said, the food is middling though the kitchen is slow and the food is overpriced. For a steakhouse they managed to undercook (as in raw) a sirloin wasting a good cut of meat. Pretzels and cheese dip were a split personality - great pretzels but runny cheese dip that seemed too much like plastic cheese. Pad Thai was a winner. Got their "famous" fish n chips which still had the skin on the fish... It was entirely deep fried as per typical but still had the skin on which was disgusting. I asked our waiter about it he said that's always how we do it.... Which was interesting because I was there the week before and had the fish n chips and they were normal filets WITHOUT skin. He shrugs and mumbles this is how we always do it and we never saw him again, no drink refills, no how was ur meal. Had to pay at the bar for the meal. It was a never go back experience. Usually our experience is better, but my meal was messed up today and no kind of compensation was offered. Our server did not bring our waters and we had to take condiments off another table that had just been vacated. I got the tacos because I love avocados and they were supposed to be topped with a slice each. When our meals arrived there was no avocado and our server left before I had the chance to ask about it. When she came back I asked and she informed me the kitchen was out of avocado. I explained to her the only reason I had ordered that meal was that I love avocado, she offered to bring me something else, but by that time my husband was already half done his meal and I did not want to wait to eat any longer. I should have checked the reviews before I went. The patio is very nice but other than that the place is mediocre. We ordered the eggplant bruschetta which would have been good if they had sliced the eggplant thinner or cooked it longer. My chicken souvlaki soup was cold and tasteless and mostly seemed to be peas and the Yorkshire delight was cold and unremarkable. My daughter's baby cheeseburgers were not patted fresh and my husband thought his fish and chips where okay-if you like potato chip crust. Finally, there were no prices on the wine list and even when I asked how much a particular glass cost, my server wouldn't tell me-just that they got more expensive as you go down the page...not helpful. read more

This is not a Steakhouse...it's a bar. The place is dark and dingy. The staff wear all black. The toilets were not working in the men's washroom. The change table in the "family washroom" was filthy and it smelled. No one dared to venture into the Ladies washroom. Our table was very wobbly. There was a hole in the floor under our table as well as wiring running along the floor (not the wall). The kid's meal comes with pop...milk is an extra charge. My medium rare sirloin steak was cooked properly, however, was hard to cut and super chewy. There weren't any highchairs. My little one had a hard time on the booster..it wobbled on the cushion on the seat. To slide the booster forward made it very tippy. I had a fly landing on me the whole time I ate. Our waitress was nice, but not great. I had to flag down another waitress after waiting a while for ours to reappear. The pub food was good. eg: onion rings, fries, burger and chicken fingers. The steak was terrible. There were 2 adults, one kid and one toddler. Most places have kids eating for free Sundays...not this place! Our total bill was $87. My other half had a pop, kid had a milk and myself and toddler had water. We did not order dessert. Needless to say, we will not be returning. read more
