Wow!!!!! Was I smacked in the mouth with some amazing food!!!!!! We decided to grab some food before listening to some music and the Brussel Sprouts called my name. If there's sprouts this girl is getting them. I am 100% positively sure that these Brussel Sprouts are THE best on the planet. They're crispy, sweet and spicy with an addition of nutty texture from macadamia nuts. Mind blown. I had an outstanding experience with The Bulldog Bar and Lounge. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings for delivery, and everything was absolutely on point. After work, my friends and I decided to grab a bite to eat and they had only been here one other time so we figured we would just give it a go. They raved about the mozzarella cheese sticks. This time they ordered those, and the cheeseburger egg rolls while I opted for the Buffalo chicken wrap with fries. I wasn't there but a few minutes and went to the restroom but heading over there I was just so off put by this rude little girl patron who felt the need to not be polite and move out of the way after I said excuse me. So instead she just stood there. I was disappointed by the way this child acted, but remembered that she's a nobody. The restroom was low on soap and needed a bit tidying up. Two strikes. As I went back to my chair, the little girl decided to just stand in the way so I couldn't pass therefore I took the stool from behind and moved it next to her so I could pass. Strike two and a half. This tells me I'm not welcome. As I sat down, a young man named Casey came over and what a wonderful burst of good energy I could feel coming from him. He wanted to make sure fries were ok. I love that he waited until I got back from the restroom to ask me. Food came out quite quickly which was great. My wrap was really good and I tried one of my friend's appetizers and both were delicious. Casey came back to check on us. He showed us around, gave us some info about the English, and some drink recommendations, I'll tell you what, the three strikes from earlier were now erased from my memory all because of Casey's awesome vibe and his whole being was such a pleasure. We went here for Indy Book & Sip and our waitress Sam was absolutely incredible! She handled running back and forth from our party to the regular part of the bar flawlessly. I ordered the fries and chipotle mayo along with a drink and oh my goodness it was the perfect snack to have while at book club! I really appreciate that The Bulldog was able to accommodate a larger party and make it such a great experience for everyone. I hope that we can go back soon because it was such a convenient spot with plenty of on site and free street parking. The Bulldog lounge is a long time Butler university bar that is not on the campus, but is located in broad ripple. It's a classic sports bar that has very good pub food and plenty of television screens for live sports. They play the game audio which is excellent for fans ( Go purdue Boilermakers!) and have multiple games on at the same time time so patrons are well informed. From the kitchen, the fish and chips were fantastic, the chicken parmesan as well, and burgers like the Tex mex burger and bee sting are also great sandwiches. Finally , they also have sliders, the 4 pack combo allows one to sample , bbq , tex mex, chicken burger and cheese burger, all on king's Hawaiian bread -Yum. As a Butler Grad, I frequently went to Moe and Johnny's at 54th and College. I was sad to see it closed. So I was excited to try The Bulldog Bar & Lounge that opened in its location. We've been here a couple times now and have found some favorites. We like the Bacon Cheesy sliders for $13. They are on Hawaiian rolls and are served with your choice of fries or salad. We recommend the fries ... my wife is picky about the quality of their salad lettuce. They also have two other types of sliders: Black and Blue for $14 and Shrimp and Crab for $15.50. We've only ever tried the Bacon Cheesy ... why mess with something we like?! You get 4 sliders which is perfect for splitting. I've also had the Tenderloin Sandwich for $16. It's ok but not great. To help you gauge my preference and taste of tenderloin sandwiches, I think Dooley O'Toole's has one of the best in town. This is not Dooley's but it is ok. We've also had the Tex Mex Burger and it was good. We would get it again. It's $19.50 and comes with fries. It has bacon, onion strings, Swiss cheese ( I substituted for Pepper Jack without an issue), Chipolte aioli, guacamole, and tomato. They serve Pizza King pizza. We've ordered the Meat Lovers. The crust is crunchy ... which we really like. It was thin and could have been a tad thinner (our opinion) but not by much. It has a ton of toppings which is very good. It could use a bit more sauce ... it's very dry. As a pizza lover, I know how personal taste varies so much on this item. So feel free to order and see what you think ... thinnish crunchy crust, lots of toppings, not much sauce. You will either like or dislike based on pizza preference. The atmosphere is fun. We like sitting at a table top in the bar area. They've tons of TVs and play the sound of important games. Service is good and friendly. First of all, the room temperature--cold! It was a dreary day outside but I couldn't even take my coat off the whole time. Second, the beer wall for which they are known, was out of order and even though the Sunday special was 25% off the beer wall, nothing was offered as an alternative. Interior decor is updated, but the layout is pretty much the same with the large central bar. Appetizers were fine, pizza from the Pizza King kitchen was on par for Pizza King (mediocre). They had one bartender working the whole bar which was kind of insane. She hardly had time to say two words to any customer before having to move on. Not a big sports guy so the constant outbursts from other patrons based on what was happening on the TVs was annoying. I'm told that this placed used to be the Bullldog, then it was Mo & Johnny's, now it's the Bulldog again. I have no clue about owners or whatever, but this current place was nice and fun. Broad Ripple, College & 54th. I was concerend about parking (especially going on the Fri night that I was) but they've got some spaces wrapping the building, and seemed like decent street parking available. We ate out of the patio -- dog friendly, we were attending a little event so there were about a dozen of us there to eat and drink and socialize, with dogs in tow. Staff was very friendly. Inside is plenty of seating, then there is also a main bar area with lots of TVs, and two walls lined with taps. So .. I LOOOOVE samplers/flights -- and you can go inside and make your own: beer, wine, cider, ... they give you a little card (tab to your table) and you can pour water ever you want and you get charged by the ounce. The descriptions are clearly on the nozzles. I found this to be well priced, and so fun! Especaillly for someone like me who does not necessarily consume a lot (volume) of alcohol, but I love trying things. For food, it was decent. My (medically necessary 0gluten, dary free firend has a little hard time finding something "safe" -- she ended up with a salad with grilled almon on it, which looked pretty good. Our pork nachos were fine -- not a ton of nachos. My other friend had salmon per the menu and that was realy good. I had the pulled pork -- it was tasty but definitely not "pulled" -- it was chunked up cubes. My friend had the bananas foster which was not traditional as well, but still tasty, too. I remember running into one of the owners (I think) of The Bulldog a few weeks before it opened. While I've always been a bit challenged by this spot and this building due to accessibility issues, I've also always found it more than a little endearing. From 1974-1994, this SoBro spot was occupied by the original Bulldog. It was a gathering spot for Butler students and SoBro residents. I will admit I found this a bit weird given this is definitely a bit east of Butler, however, back then Butler didn't have its lounge spots and options between Butler and Broad Ripple were minimal. After 1994, Moe & Johnny's moved in until its closure a couple years ago. The Bulldog is now back with the building spruced up a bit, accessibility improved a bit, and yet the devotion to being a gathering space for Butler and SoBro is as present as ever. In terms of accessibility, there's an accessible spot on the East 54th Street side of The Bulldog right next to a ramp and a side entrance that is definitely the best way to enter if you're a wheelchair user. I haven't made my way all through the building yet to see in what ways accessibility have been improved (if any) as Moe & Johnny's always had serious issues. While there is accessible parking, I'd note that it's not ADA and it's not ideal. It is, however, improved a bit from Moe & Johnny's. There's also street parking available, though if you move slowly the College Avenue drivers can be a bit frightening. The Bulldog offers The Bulldog Bar (21+ only), BD Social (family friendly), a soon to open cocktail room (that will be 21+), and outdoor seating that is both kid and dog friendly. As I recall, the outdoor seating is also wheelchair friendly. The Bulldog offers 50+ high tech televisions. They have a gaming area with a pool table, Golden Eye, and dart boards. They are known to hold events, have live music, and have weekly food and drink specials. There's also a Bulldog Club you can join. It offers the usual discounts, special events, notices about merchandise, and other perks. While I've been in The Bulldog once, I am largely basing this review based upon meal delivery that did not include alcohol. I ordered a Smash Burger (Build Your Own) and upped my meal from the included chips to include steak fries for $2 more. I also ordered an iced tea. It was delivered via DoorDash. I don't consider meal delivery the ideal way to experience a restaurant, but I had a DoorDash gift card and The Bulldog is actually pretty close to my home. The food was actually quite good. The Smash Burger is a double burger fixed to order, though quite a few of the toppings have an upcharge. It actually came with lettuce, onion, and tomato on the side. The fries were a pretty nice sized order, though no ketchup was included (not a big deal, but worth noting). The iced tea was in a styrofoam cup and I'm guessing it was 16-ounces. It was a bit smaller than expected and by the time it arrived had no ice in it. The container for the food, on the other hand, was quite nice and it was still warm upon arrival. This was a good meal at a fair price (at least for delivery). I definitely wouldn't pay this much all the time, but for today I was happy with the burger and fries. I was less than thrilled with the iced tea. I will admit that parking intimidates me a bit at The Bulldog, but this meal made me want to make a more leisurely visit to experience the service, interior, and to test accessibility. I would say it is just ok. The breadsticks come in an order of 3 and my daughter only ate 2. They were very doughy. I got a 10" with chicken and pineapple. The mozzarella cheese seems a little different. Like it doesn't completely melt. Our waitress was very nice but didn't check on us much and never came and offered refills of water. I had to get up and go to the Bourbon to get water. We had 3 pizzas for our table of 4 people. (2) 10" and (1) 14". The smaller pizzas come first and about 15 minutes later the other pizza came. So that was a little frustrating. The dining room has about 7 areas of seeing at tables and a couple of areas for casual searing. We did get beer from the self pour and checked out the Bourbon Bar. I've tried so hard to love this place. It has a great location in the Sobro area and inside has such great potential but it misses everytime for me. I've came time and time again but the service just lacks so bad. Prior visits, food takes forever. Today we came in for lunch and there was probably 25 or less people in the bar area. We got water but took a while to finally get our order in after just going to the bar and asking to order. We ordered a plain Caesar salad and an order of sliders. It took forever to get the food, we thought they might've forgot. They never came to check or noticed how long we waited for food. I was interested in trying out The Bulldog after the space that formerly was occupied by Moe and Johnnys opened up. The concept is cool with a self-serve beer/wine wall and many TVs surrounding. When we went for dinner and drinks during a Thursday Night Football game, we found out that the concept is cooler than that execution. The beer wall had a lot amount of options in theory, but many (15-20%) were out/not functioning. I also wasn't in love with the actual options offered - no reason to have Bud light and Miller lite... I would've rather seen amother local Pilsner option, for example. The apps we had (bully fries and cheese curds) were pretty good and they had a ton of delicious sauces to select from. The wings I had as my dinner were big and meaty, but they looked better than they actually tasted. The service was just okay; our server was very friendly and helpful upon arrival, but kind of fell off the later we got into the night and wanted to order more food/drinks. As a fellow Butler Bulldog, I was excited for this new Broad Ripple spot. The owner is in the business of buying great bar spaces and transforming them. This location has everything -- free parking spots out front, outdoor seating, bar seating, family seating (not finished yet but almost!), a big video wall to watch sports, a wall of 40+ beer taps, and impressive food. I don't usually expect to have great food when visiting a sports-bar-like spot, but my whole family and I were really impressed by how delicious everything was. I've heard that the owner spent a lot of money in the kitchen and on chefs, as making quality food was a big priority. Awesome! I had delicious fried pickles, a double patty smashburger, and an amazing side salad. Truly. Usually side salads are nothing to write home about, but this one was big, with lots of delicious and freshly-chopped veggies, sunflower seeds to add crunch, and delicious dressing options. My family also ordered a pizza that looked great too. They have 20+ dipping sauce options here, so you'll come back just to try more of those. I personally loved the avocado ranch. For the beer wall, you'll be sat at a table and then your server will ask if you'd like to go enjoy it. If you say yes, you'll get given a wristband that you scan in order for the spout to star pouring. They have lots of local and national beer options, including some local ciders and sours, and even five or so wines. We loved that they had the option to create a flight, which allows customers to try five mini drinks. It's so fun to choose. The only reason I docked a star was because our server didn't bring out waters and then when we asked, seemed a little put off by having to get everyone waters when our food arrived. Also, when we were filling up our beers, three different people came over to help us even though we were doing just fine. One of them wasn't even in the restaurant outfit and was explaining that she's just a neighborhood restaurant ambassador and likes to help out. First off, a head's up for parents and caregivers who are visiting with children: The Bulldog will only seat you outside on their patio if you have children with you. I think this is because the inside seating is just a big bar? And people under 21 years of age can't sit inside a bar? I don't know -- it wasn't explained to me. My children and I were just ushered outside. I'm not sure what the seating situation for children will be during the colder months when outdoor seating isn't an option. But The Bulldog has a kids menu, so I'm assuming children will still be welcome, somehow? Dogs are also welcome here, and there is even a menu with dog-friendly food, but people with dogs have to sit on the patio, too. So if you have a child or dog with you, you're outside. OK? OK, I guess. The kids menu has things like smash burgers, pizza, chicken bites, grilled cheese and pb&j. Drinks are not included with a kids meal. We got a smash burger with fries, and a pepperoni pizza with fruit, which was apple slices. My kid who ordered the burger said it was good, and my kid who ordered the pizza said it was alright. My husband got a smash burger and fries, and he said it was really good. The fries they have here are the long, mealy steak fries. My order was the Bully Balls from the appetizer menu, which are two meatballs and a ball of ricotta cheese in marinara topped with parmesan cheese served with naan bread. For some reason, I was charged an extra $2 for the naan, even though it never mentioned that it was an extra charge on the menu, and my server never mentioned that, either. On the menu, it just says the naan comes with the appetizer. So, if you order the Bully Balls, check your check: They might charge you for something they shouldn't, too! The meatballs were good, though, and I liked the combination of warm marinara with the cool dollop of ricotta. I could have enjoyed it without the naan, which is why it's so annoying to have been charged for something I didn't even specifically order. I also got a half house salad, which was excellent. It had romaine lettuce, sunflower seeds, finely diced red onion, cheese, croutons and tomatoes. I got a vinaigrette on the side so I could control the dressing situation. It wasn't a fancy or creative salad, but it was nicely prepared, and I especially liked that all of the components were a good forkable size. This was my first time visiting The Bulldog and I was pleasantly surprised by the tap wall that they have! You get a wristband and select the beer/wine you want to pour, scan your wristband and pour as much or little as you want! They charge you by the ounce, so the price differs depending on what you are drinking. We opted for the flight option, so we tried 4 different pours of beer. They also have wine selections on the tap wall. We started with the fried pickles appetizer and they were delicious! They came with a ranch dipping sauce and A2Z sauce (CAJUN REMOULADE). It had a little kick and was tasty! For our entree, we split the Philly cheesesteak. The bread was soft and fresh. It would have been nice to have an additional sauce or au jus to pair with it, as it was a little dry. The fries were AMAZING! They were large steaks fries and seasoned perfectly. We sat at the bar and the bartender, Brandon, was great! It was our first time visiting and he explained the tap wall to us and made us feel welcomed. I'm very happy to see something come into this space! As a Butler University graduate, I was even more excited to hear this bar was going to be a bulldog theme and a great spot to watch the games next season. So far, I've been twice, once on opening night and again earlier this week. I still think there are some inevitable new business kinks to be worked out, but overall I was impressed. The food menu is your typical bar menu, and what I love is the huge variety of sauce options! My friend and I ordered the flightless wings, which is essentially chicken strips, but mine was tossed in garlic parm and hers in spicy BBQ. Very good flavor, but a huge portion! I definitely think it's something meant to be split, 10 chicken fingers is a lot for one person. I really like the idea of self-pour drinks. I can really see it being handy on a game day when the staff is busy and you can just go get a refill on your drink without waiting on anyone, but I do think there are some flaws. When I went earlier this week, I only had a 20oz limit on my band, which isn't even 2 full pint glasses. Meaning, I had to ask my waitress to up my limit if I wanted more to drink. Which, I understand they don't want people abusing the self-pour, but 20 oz seemed a bit low. It was an expensive lunch too, I think it was $43 for split app, my 2 beers and my chicken strips. Now back to to theme. As I mentioned, I'm a proud BU grad and I was really hoping to see more Butler things around the restaurant. Ordered a Pizza from the Pizza King that is there at the bulldog . I ordered it online the total for two pizzas was $35 . When I looked at my bank app they had charged me $50 . I called to ask about this and I asked to speak to the manager the lady that I was speaking to said that was her and she wasn't going to help me . She was incredibly rude short and nasty . I asked who I should speak to and she said the owner , I asked when I could speak to the owner she was so rude and said she had no idea. I have called back twice since then only to get the same rude behavior on the phone . FU@& THIS PLACE!! I work in tge area and I will never have anything positive to say. We sat in the bar and it was loaded with TV's all around making it enjoyable to catch sports. They had a interesting wall of tap beer selections, they give you a card that you put in to choose what you want you can get samples or a full cup. Our server was Danny, and it was her first night, she was very good and went the extra mile to ensure our orders were right and that we were pleased and taken care of. If she didn't know something she found out for us. We shared three appetizers the Cheeseburger egg rolls, Brussels and fried mushrooms. The egg rolls lacked a cheeseburger flavor but were cooked good. The Brussels were our favorite, they had a nice flavor with Porter garlic, cheese, and macadamia nuts. The fried mushrooms were just OK as fried mushrooms are. Two people in our party ordered Black and Blue sliders, another ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich and I ordered the kitchen sink pizza. Everyone liked there meal. I had an issue with mine. The menu said sweet peppers and when it came out, it had green peppers and I detest them. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it. I mentioned to the people at our table it has green peppers. I can't stand them and started picking them off the waitress overheard me and she wanted to make it right by getting another pizza but I didn't want to wait so I told her no it's OK I'll eat as is. I'll just take them off. 10 minutes later the manager came out with an apology and a new pizza and a five dollar gift card, which I was not expecting but glad to have. They also had trivia night that started around seven, it was a lot of fun and highly competitive and entertaining. Overall, it was a good experience and I would definitely go back again. read more

Have always liked the SW corner of 54th & College, even back in the Moe & Johnny's days, but The Bulldog has really started to come into its own! Food & service is good, the self-serve wall of taps is convenient, if hokey, and the patio & people / traffic watching is as good as ever. But they just recently opened a back Lounge, called The English set in the back room of the former Coffee House. The old King Kole booth seats are still there and an even bigger, beautiful bar, fully stocked and ready to be explored. Highly recommend! read more

Just dined here last night for the second time so we could watch the Purdue game with some friends. Perfect spot to watch sports games as they have a billion tvs. We started with the meatball appetizer which was really good with the cheese. I ordered the pulled pork nachos- and I think that will be my new go to. I honestly can't remember what I got here over the summer- but I know I liked this much better. They have a huge beer wall with a few seltzer and wine options as well that you can go up and use your wrist band to scan in order to get drinks. They charge you by how many ounces you pour- pretty nifty. Next time i'll try a flight! I was a little surprised to see how dead it was on a Thursday night with Purdue playing. Hope this spot will stick around. We did close out a bit early and ended up staying for the end of the game. I wish the server would have come back around to at least see if we wanted anymore water. read more

We stopped here for dinner & drinks after a Butler game. Great place to gather with fellow Dawgs. Our waiter, Kenny, was friendly and attentive on a busy evening! 5 stars for service. The flightless wings were more like chicken tenders than boneless wings. Good quality chicken. The Redline pizza was tasty, but next time I'll get a simpler pizza. We didn't try the beer and wine wall but it's a fun feature. On warm days, they have a patio that's dog friendly. The menu even has some items for dogs! This was the first time trying The Bulldog since it was Moe & Johnny's. What a disappointment! $18.50 for a burger that was basically a thin, flavorless, frozen patty from a box? The apps that came out at nearby tables looked awful, like they also came out of a box in a freezer. We also waited forever to place our order, get our food and get our check. The only positive is the made to order Pizza King pizza - made at a completely different establishment next door. There are Sports Bars in Indy that are 100x better with fresh food. The neighboring Twenty Tap has way higher quality food that is cheape. I will never be back. read more

Pizza King!!! Authentic PK pizza is being served fresh in-house at the Bulldog! I've waited so long for PK to come to Broadripple. The Bulldog is a great spot to enjoy it! Excellent pizza, personable service and great atmosphere. The self pour taproom is pretty cool. Check out the cozy English pub area in the west end of the Bulldog. Used to be Cornerstone Coffee. Excellent place to chill and enjoy fine liquor along with your meal on Friday and Saturday. Want action? Enjoy the main bar surrounded by tvs airing sports. Love this place. I'll be back. The old Moe and Johnny's has returned as The Bulldog Bar and Lounge on South College Ave in Broadripple. The original Bulldog was open from 1974 - 1994. Thereafter, Moe and Johnny's operated for over 20 years. Now in 2022, The Bulldog is back in its home and building. The parking lot situation has greatly improved with the new line markings on the parking lot now going the logical way entering from College Ave. Street parking is still available where you can find. Currently, featuring a sports bar and family friendly restaurant with a cocktail lounge coming soon. We opted to eat in the large, sports bar area (21+) where 50 plus flatscreens are on every wall. Bulldog has a self-serve tap wall with 40 draft beers, 6 wines and 2 mixed drinks on tap. You'll get a wrist band for the self-serve area, then select the amount and type of beer you enjoy. The bar atmosphere is still loud, fun and very much sports related. Excellent location to watch one of the many types of sports on the large flatscreens. A gaming area is located in the bar with a pool table, Golden Eye and dart boards. The hostess will seat you for the low or high-top bar tables and the large U-shaped bar is first-come. You'll need to check-in with the hostess for family and patio seating plus well-behaved dogs welcome on patio. The Menu offers the standard appetizers (Bully Nachos), fresh salads, sandwiches (wings, brisket grilled cheese, 6 oz. tenderloin, cheese steak, smash burgers, fish, BBQ, chicken), and several pizzas. Cauliflower Crust is availabe for an upcharge plus they offer a few Vegetarian options. Pulled pork tacos, shrimp tacos and grilled salmon cover the entrees. Our appetizers, sandwiches and wings have been tasty and we've enjoyed the experience. Prices are a tad high on a few items but prices are rising on everything. Daily specials are available Sunday through Thursday with brunch served on Sunday's. Live music dates and seasonal events are posted on their website. The menu is pretty good when you want a drink and to watch a game. The servers are prompt & friendly. Perfect neighborhood bar/restaurant to watch a game or multiple games as there are plenty of televisions throughout the bar.
