The food was very good, I like homemade style burgers especially those that make a mess. The cheeseburger was exactly what I had hoped. The staff was very friendly and the food was done in a reasonable time I ate lunch there and it was very busy. There are also a lot of Britney Spears pictures on the wall. 3 stars is A-OK and that sums this place up given that it is in the middle of no where. In fact, this whole area would be a good scene for a post-end-of-world- zombie apocalypse movie. The only reason we went here is this is where Britney Spears eats her favorite fries. However not they are under new management so who knows if the recipe is the same as when these were Britney Spears favorite. The fries were hand cut and not too greasy. They were good. Our table orders the fried pickles and they were out of fried okra. The fries pickles were actually pretty good. The fried oysters were sizable, the beef burger looked standard, and the chicken sandwich seem to taste good to my friend. Not worth going out of your way to come here, but if youre in the Kentwood area for Britney Spears pilgrimage then it is surprisingly A-okay. read more

I've been to Nyla's a lot over the years, but it's been a while since my last visit. I was pleasantly surprised to find they've expanded the menu. My husband went for the fried catfish, and I chose the roast beef poboy. We sat outside with our dog and enjoyed a nice meal at Nyla's! read more

This place is absolutely wonderful!!! Everyone is ALWAYS so nice and welcoming!! The food. THE FOOD!!! Okay, the food is absolutely amazing. I have been looking for home cooked southern style food and this is the place. On top of the food being delicious, the restaurant is in a small quaint town which adds to tat warm and homey vibe. My husband and I are frequent customers here. Every time we visit our second home in MS, we make a special effort to stop by. Everything is homemade and cooked to perfection. The staff knows us and always warmly welcomes us. This is a must try to all who have never had Nyla's. It's not conveniently located for us, but well worth the drive. Nyla restaurant's restaurant here in Osyka, MS is widely known as Britney Spears favorite food spot growing up in NE Louisiana. Nyla's is not even a mile from the LA/MS state line and is about 5 miles from her hometown of Kentwood, MS. Since I was in Kentwood, LA already doing the mini Britney Spears fan tour, Nyla's was just about a 10 minute drive from the center of Kentwood anyway, so it was already prudent for me to see the favorite restaurant pop star Britney Spears dug as a kid and teenager before she made it big in the music industry. The backwoods country that was Louisiana and Mississippi was a real eye opener, especially when you don't think any major development has gone through the area within the last 20 years. Basic rural country roads here and local eateries that support the local folk and not having to travel too far south or north to get what they need. Nyla's Burger Basket is one of those local eateries that has served this community for a long time and is continued to do so. When I rolled through here on a Wednesday, I decided to pick up a snack before driving back to Baton Rouge. The overall experience here was generally uneventful and underwhelming, while having good southern hospitality. It's just a southern homespun restaurant and burger joint that has a special attachment to them. While they're known for being Britney's favorite burger spot, they certainly don't advertise it, inside or outside. I guess that's how it is. Or maybe that's what drives the out of towners to come through rural southern Mississippi for a taste of Nyla's and see what's great about this place. They're locally owned and operated. They offer a plethora of great options, including breakfast, burgers, and even po boys! How awesome is that?! I guess there's this fascination with po boys and other southern cuisine. Nayla's Burger Basket is located at 1071 2nd street in Osyka, MS. Either drive north from Baton Rouge LA or south from Jackson MS on the I-55. All good really!They accept major credit cards, which is alway a great thing. They have limited parking in front of the restaurant and on the side of the building, but on any given day, there should be parking anyway. Or just park on the street. Plenty of open spaces. The prices here are really decently priced to where you can find them anywhere in the cities nearby. The southern charm and hospitality is evident here and it was nice to be here. Driving a lot had gotten me road weary and it was nice to stop by and pick up something on the road back to Baton Rouge. I got the fried oyster Po boy, which came with French fries. Always a treat when you come to the south really. Po boys are a dime a dozen around these parts. I can see why Britney loved this place as a kid. It's not everyday this Hawaii kid makes it to this side of Mississippi, but I enjoyed myself here and the service that Nyla's had provided to me. Friendly and fast service! Around 10 minutes from ordering and my order was already finished! I know it's a Po boy but can't go wrong with that. I'd definitely would recommend coming here, although if it weren't for it being Britney's former hang out, I probably would not have known about this place. 4 stars for the service and homespun hospitality. Have not ordered from here n a while but wanted some fresh fried Catfish so here it is hubs asked for a large so we could share ... the catfish was fresh and it could have been fried a little longer but it was good and tasty... sides were baked potato and coleslaw ... let's say this was the best coleslaw I've had n a long time it was fresh and homemade and delish i enjoyed it so much i ate it first. This place is normally amazing. I get excited to go once every month or so. Today, it was terrible. They said they were "short-staffed" but that should never be a reason for food quality to decline. My sandwich was over cooked and the cheese sticks were barely cooked. So awful. Sadly, I'm going to have to write this place off for good. I stumbled upon Nyla's with two friends while doing a road trip through the Southeast with two friends in our MINI Coopers. Hungry & looking for lunch on a Sunday, we happened to find Nyla's driving through Osyka, and man are we happy we did! The food was truly outstanding: we had a BBQ beef po boy sandwich, MASSIVE cheeseburgers, Cajun fries, and home-made onion rings. All the food was fresh, hot, and excellent. The double meat cheeseburger....WOW....a towering sandwich, enough for two people or one starved castaway/lost traveler. Don't think I've had onion rings that good since Mom's, and the fries were light and fluffy. Service was quick and friendly, very welcoming in the truest sense of Southern Hospitality. We weren't aware of the notoriety of Nyla's as Britney Spears' favorite family restaurant, but it's not hard to understand why people love this spot. If you're traveling through the MS/LA borderlands, you can't go wrong at Nyla's. read more

As awful as Brittney Spears' music. Server was nice, but totally botched orders. Place was freezing in the back and steaming in the front seating areas. Decor is decorated with novelty sayings in different frames, and plastic protectors over tables. 2 other tables were dining, we had a party of 5. We waited a full 15 minutes before any service. Another 10 to bring back drinks, another 15 for our orders to be taken. No refills while waiting the 30 minutes for our food. We did get fried pickles and onion rings. Apparently it's one batter that they fry everything in. Bland. No one like the pickles. Onion rings were doable with enough ketchup. 2 people ordered the two steaks offered a top sirloin and the rib eye. One rare and one med rare. Both came out looking like identical slices of liver (they are $18.95). We had a friend who had a bad reaction to oysters here, so we stayed away from those. I ordered the house salad as a side (so did another in the party). I LOVE salad, this has got to be the first one I ever wasted. It was watery iceberg lettuce shredded with yellow cheese and croutons. So what did I order? Grilled shrimp. 12 puny shrimp (med-small) for $13.95. They took longer than the steaks to get out. When they came they were fried (in same crappy batter as pickles and ORs). Waitress was nice taking back, but it took another 20 to get the grilled ones. They were tasteless but greasy and served on wheat bread. Very weird. The only friend who liked the food got a hamburger steak. The other steaks were half eaten. I ditched the shrimp somewhere on the highway. I was painfully ill for rest of night. read more

Outstanding home-style comfort food at a very fair price. Nyla's is well known as Brittany Spear's favorite resturaunt, but don't let that deter you from going there. The burgers are thick, juicy, and tasty; the fries are lightly battered; the onion rings are exceptional, and the fried eggplant appetizer is the best I've ever had anywhere. The meals that other tables ordered look great as well. What sold me on this place though, was the fact that although we ordered some fried foods, the overall taste was very light, and none if it was the slightest bit greasy. To top it off, the four kids in our party told the waitress that they wanted to share a piece of strawberry shortcake. She brought an extra extra large helping to make sure that everyone got their fill. The service was superb, and everyone in this out of the way gem made us feel right at home. Went for breakfast on Saturday morning. Floors were sticky. That was gross. Ordered two scrambled eggs, grits, link sausage and biscuit. Grits were lukewarm and lumpy, rather than scrambled the eggs were fried then scrambled, biscuit was day old and warmed over. Really a breakfast sin in the south. Party of three went on a Wednesday evening. We have been several times before and had pleasant experiences. This time was horrible. Table top was sticky made me feel it wasn't clean. Service was the worst I have ever experienced. Waitress only brought two menus for a party of three. Brought drinks but no straws. Food was hot and fish was good but battered fries were not good so hard that they were inedible. Waitress never came back to table.. Had to take our own glasses to get them refilled. Waitress went to a nearby table three times while we ate. To top it all off the restaurant wasn't even busy. We made our last trip to Nyla's Restaurant. read more
