Buffets might be a past thought during these Covid times but this is not your typical buffet. Every day there is a different spread of items on a lazy Susan and they are spacing you out in smaller groups at tables with locals and visitors and plenty of hand sanitizer just to make sure you are covered. We went on a Saturday so there was a menu of fried chicken, ribs, sausage, sides, and desserts. Plenty of fried eggplant which they are known for as well. If the table wants more of a certain item just request it and it will be on its way shortly. The sweet tea is sweet and the food is great. We took an hour and a half drive and would do it again. Hospitality and the food sold me on this place after constantly hearing about it. Take the road trip and come support this local charm.

This is more than likely going to be the least popular review on this page for The Dinner Bell so I'm apologizing to those who love it. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon after a funeral service right there in McComb and the place was hopping! The folks were friendly. Wait staff was extremely on top of their game and kept bringing fresh dishes out so that things didn't get cold and were constantly replenishing. The experience of the lazy Susan table and eating with people you don't know was kind of a neat experience. For those reasons mentioned, I give this a 2.5/3. As a girl who was raised in the kitchen cooking food like this, I wasn't really impressed with the food. All of the vegetables were sweet and were like mush. The fried chicken was delicious--I'll give them that. The red beans were also pretty good. The desserts were either super dry (chocolate cake was hard), or tasted like canned fruit compote with no cobbler crust. They also weren't warm. Cornbread was dry as all get out and the chicken and dumplins lacked flavor. The price for two of us to eat a Saturday lunch that I could've cooked ten times better was way steep ($55 for two minus tip). If you don't have anyone in your family that can cook like this already, then certainly enjoy this place. But if you do...give "em a call and offer to bring the biscuits!

Ask the Community - The Dinner Bell

I've searched but not sure where to find those old glass and silver tea carafes from the old Dinner Bell. Could you please tell me where I might find them? I realize they will be expensive but that's ok. I just really want one.

I wish I could tell you where to find one. One of the reasons we stopped using them was I was unable to find replacements fpr the glass insides. Other than perhaps getting lucky in a flea market or an estate sale I honestly don't know where to find…

Does anyone remember the old silver & glass ice tea pitchers Dinner Bell served from for many years back, before they switched over to the plastic pitchers? I'm looking for a replacement glass carafe or to purchase an entire pitcher silver and glass.

The main reason we switched was the increasing difficulty and expense of finding replacements. There are out there but are niot easy to find and are expensive when you do.…

We started with the Brussels sprouts, which were absolutely delicious and probably the best Brussels sprouts we've ever had! For drinks, we tried the Hot Honey Margarita and Blood Orange Mezcal, and both were extremely flavorful and beautifully presented. The aesthetic was unmatched. My daughter had the kids' cheese pizza and was very happy with it as well. For our entrées, we went with the pistachio crusted salmon and the steak with crawfish cream sauce and fries, and both were exceptional. We also had to try the Blueberry 75 since French 75s are my absolute favorite, and it did not disappoint! Our waitress, Jillian, truly took the experience to the next level. She was incredibly sweet and attentive, and every recommendation she gave us was spot on. Overall, 10/10 experience! Amazing food, beautiful atmosphere, great cocktails, and even better service. 100% recommend and definitely a must try in Covington! We will absolutely be back.

Walked in and the place was super cute. Called earlier in the day for reservations for 7 and they…read moresaid they did not take same day reservations but place should not be bad at 6pm and we should be seated fairly quickly. We arrived at 5:40pm and told them 7 people and were told about 40 minutes so we sat at the bar and grabbed a few drinks, waited about 40 minutes are were seated.. perfect timing. Now this is where things start to fall apart.. we sat and waited about 5 minutes for someone to show up and take drink orders and I thought should put in appetizers just in case it takes them awhile to return. A few drinks stumbled out and then appetizers came and the a few minutes later more of the drinks.. weird. Finally we ordered our entrees and while waiting finished our appetizers and then no one came and cleared the table, water was empty, drinks were low appetizer plates and appetizers vessels still on table. And wait for it... here come the entrees.. and they are placing them around an already full table.. was there no dishwashers so they didn't want to take plates back to be washed??? I put about 4 plates where my entree should have gone and they pushed the entree plate next to it and I had to ask them o remove the other plates. I feel like this is too long already.. the food? Tasted odd like it had an odd flavor I ordered the Truffle Butter Steak and it was about the size of my hand and cut in strips with onions rings on top and a small bowl of fries... for $35.00. My stunning wife orders the Shrimp fried rice and she was not impressed I tasted it and it was mushy with small shrimp. Oh I liked the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer that is the reason for the two stars. Bill came and I paid for seven of us and looked the bill and it was $381.00 with drinks no one told me the gratuity was one there already and stupid me did not look and gave them another $80.00 on top of the $60.00 on the bill yep $140.00 for horrible service.. and okay food. If you all read my reviews I honestly try to be fair and hope people have off days.. I am regretting having spent nearly $500.00 on this night

The restaurant is located in the Monmouth Inn which is on a gorgeous property. I would highly suggest taking a stroll around after dinner to take it all in. The restaurant is upscale, but you would feel comfortable wearing business casual attire. DaVu was the manager who was incredibly kind and the service was on par with restaurants in larger cities, but in a small town. The food was top notch. Everything was amazing. I'm a southerner and can confidently say that the fried green tomatoes were some of the best I've ever had. The moulard duck breast was also the highlight of the entrees. We had several desserts which were all good, but the white chocolate bread pudding was the clear winner. Also, make sure to get a mint julep to complete your southern experience.
