MY WIFE TAKES 5-10 HOURS TO FINISH Price: $$$ Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 My wife and I love Color Me Mine for a chill, engaging and somewhat tedious activity. We recently attended a sip and paint event, and the staff was kind enough to offer us free studio time when we couldn't complete our projects that night. My wife often brings friends, and they can spend hours painting without any issues. I'm surprise they haven't gotten kick out. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive; they're always quick to provide more paint or offer helpful tips. The studio is clean and well-organized, with a vast selection of art pieces to choose from, although the prices can be a bit high. Overall, I highly recommend Color Me Mine and will definitely be returning.

Visit Date: 3/21/2026 This might be my new hobby. First let me say that Casey was super accommodating. I went with a rather large party and Casey was able to get some tables together for us, seat us even though we were running behind, and work out an extremely awkward pay situation. She was very informative and patient. And is part of the reason I went back a second time alone. Look at my masterpiece!

Always a great time when you go to Color Me Mine Alameda! Mike has such a wonderful atmosphere in his shop and everyone in Staff is incredible. Gabbie, you're the best Heidi you're amazing and I absolutely love coming here every time we have built up quite the rapport haven't we lol stoneware was quite the night. Had a great time. Lots of excitement all around! Unfortunately, I don't have photos of my stoneware before the fire, but I do have pictures of other projects. I've worked on at Color Me Mine as again. This is the greatest place to get some paint therapy with a really wonderful team of people.

It's always so much fun for all ages! I'm always excited and the kids are always excited to go, we all work on something and chat. The teens that work there are also helpful. I recommend!

I've been here twice recently and had a blast! The selection changes and the staff is extremely friendly and sweet. It's a fun experience all around!

Coasters Set and Studio Fee -- around $60, wish they had longer hours on some week days for working folks! Lots of fun colors to choose from, but not all pottery pieces as seen on the website were available at the studio. Fun experience with all sorts of tools to help assist with your art piece in mind. Super beginner friendly and adult friendly!

Super cute spot for a painting date! It's in a quaint plaza with Trader Joes and many restaurant options as well. The staff were super nice and accommodating to us as we stayed all the way until closing. The pieces turned out great and were ready in a few weeks for pick-up. The colors showed up really well given 2-3 coats of paint. Would come back!!

Specialty glazes

Overview: Great service, fun and creative activity! I've always passed by this place when walking through South Shore, and I finally got to try it out during their Pajama Night! ---- Pricing: - Studio fees are usually $10 per person, but on Pajama Night, it's only $1 per person - Ceramic item prices vary depending on size and complexity, starting around $20 - I chose a cute mug with little feet and a smiley face for $26.50, and my boyfriend picked a standard 12oz mug for $23 ---- Experience: When we arrived, the staff welcomed us and explained the process, which was super helpful. We picked a table and looked at the wide variety of ceramic items on the shelves to choose our pieces. After selecting your piece, you're given a glaze palette showing how the colors will look after firing. Each color has a number, and you fill out a palette card with up to seven colors. You can either have the staff get your colors or grab them yourself at the back of the studio, where all the painting supplies are located. The studio offers a variety of tools for painting, including brushes of different sizes, sponges, stamps, masking tape, and squeezy bottles. They also have specialty glazes available for $6.50 each. There are two sinks for washing up and a paper towel dispenser. To achieve an opaque and even color after firing, three coats of glaze are recommended. The coats dry relatively quickly but plan to spend an hour or more painting. We spent about two hours painting, but honestly, I could've stayed much longer! ---- Facilities: - Plenty of seating, mostly two-seaters, but tables can be pushed together - There's a larger table in the back for private parties - The space is a bit tight between tables, so walking around to browse ceramics can feel cramped It takes about a week to have your pieces fired and ready for pickup. Unfortunately, during firing, my piece chipped near the handle, but the staff was incredibly kind and offered to reserve the same item for me so I could paint a new one. ---- Overall: This experience was so so fun! You can take as much time as you want to work on your piece, it's a bit expensive but it's absolutely worth it for a unique, personal ceramic. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the whole process was super enjoyable. I'll definitely be back!

Have time to spare and want to have fun and relax? Try pottery painting at Color me Mine in Alameda at Southshore. Our server Max was super helpful and friendly not only to us but all patrons. The time just flew by! They actually have a little mini fridge with drinks up front that you can purchase. We didn't see this so stepped out to Daiso to purchase drinks. Cannot wait to pick up our pieces!

Wow. Such a fun experience. I had been going to Brushstrokes in Berkeley for several years. I think I like this place more, because not only is it not near water and completely cold, but the vibes here are less stressful. When I had gone a couple weeks ago, there were Lots of large groups of kids and families. But didn't seem overly crowded. There were two separate rooms, but connected by some free space. I felt super encouraged by the staff there of what I was doing, if we had any questions, and I love how they have a choice of color palettes rather than relying on us to choose colors. They have more of a variety of items to choose from. The last time I did a butter dish at Brushstrokes, I was in high school and didn't know what I was doing. I am an artist as well, so painting was just another niche I had picked up a while ago. Will definitely be coming back.

I picked an item that was around 20 bucks and it was actually pretty fun. The paint they use dries fast so its easy to use multiple coats. I was able of finish a small project in 20 minutes or so. The staff stayed a bit late to help us finish and we didn't feel rushed. We were able to bring home the second not yet finished item for next time. There is a nomimal fee if you dont finish and need to come back later. Otherwise they fire up your project and you caome back in a week to retrieve it. Looking around I kept thinking how cute it would be to bring my kids or girl friends back here and would love to work on another project. We came here last month to paint 2 bowls which cost us only ~$76 total for the studio time and bowls themselves. And, before anyone says anything and blames us, YES we did a double coat of paint! Then, we came a week later to pick them up and in the moment, they looked good! Then once we got home, we realized that there was a little paint chip on one of the bowls, making it no longer food safe. Granted, we probably should have noticed this ourselves when we picked up the bowls but we believe it is also the employees' responsibility to perform a quality check before giving a product to a paying customer?! Instead, they didn't say a word when we picked it up the first time so we had to notice the defect ourselves and drive all the way back from the east bay to get it fixed. After coming back to get it fixed, we came back yet another time to pick up the fixed bowl, believing that the bowl's paint chip would be fixed this time. However, to our surprise, the bowl was not fixed. Rather, the paint chips were even worse this time...going from a single small paint chip to SEVERAL large paint chips along the outer edge of the bowl. Again, the employee didn't say anything to us when they gave us the bowl until we pointed out how the paint chips were even WORSE this time. In response, they blamed the worsened condition of the bowl on their "finicky burner" and offered us either a $36 refund or store credit. They didn't even apologize for their mistake or wasting our time yet again. Of course, we took the refund because why would we take another chance here... Personally, I am grateful that they gave us a refund but I feel this experience was a huge waste of time and money. We had to make 4 separate trips from the east bay to SF and what did we get out of it? A bowl with a shitty paint job that somehow got worse with each "fix". A $36 refund doesn't even cover the cost of tolls to cross the bay bridge and come back this many times, not mention the cost of the time and GAS we spent coming back so many times. Overall, I hope Terra Mia Ceramic Studios takes this as a learning lesson to perform more rigorous quality inspections before giving the finished product to paying customers as prevent their customers from wasting time and money coming back to get it fixed. After all, after we finish painting, everything else is in the hands of the employees (glazing, firing, quality check, etc), all we do is come back to pick up the finished product. I feel as though this all could have been avoided, especially since it's just a simple bowl...there are so many more intricate complicated objects that people paint at the studio... Painting the bowls was a great fun experience but we are not happy about coming back 3 additional times to get it fixed only for it to get worse each successive time.

LOL the child has spoken! 5 stars it is! There are so many camps to chose from in the East Bay but what we have been loving about Aran's Art Camp is the intimate group size: there's no more than 10 kids per art camp and we've lucked out with an even smaller group during our time here. The camp is taught by a mix of Aran herself and her staff and they've been nothing but wonderful. My kiddo comes home from art camp every day bursting at the seams about everything he's worked on and learned (giving me safety tips about glass fusing and teaching me what a pinch pot is!) and he looks forward to going back each day. Each week is a different theme so if you wanted to sign up for multiple sessions, your child will definitely be working on something different each time. While the hours are 10-2, they offer before and after care for an additional fee which basically turns this into an all day camp if you were to maximize on the 9-3 aspect of it. There's a lot of half day camps out there so if you use their before and after camp, you get a good chunk of the day covered! Lastly, they go to the park every day after lunch to let them move around and get some sunshine and Fridays is pizza day! My kid said he would love to come back to art camp again next summer.

She chose the clay art activity with a "Sea Friends" theme because it sounded creative and exciting for the kids, but the actual experience did not meet expectations at all. There were only three very simple animal designs offered, which was far too limited for a two-hour birthday party and not engaging enough to keep the children interested. The employees assisting with the activity did not appear to be properly trained to host or manage a children's party. Their instructions were unclear, they spoke very softly, and there was little enthusiasm or interaction with the kids. The atmosphere felt dull and unorganized instead of fun and energetic like a birthday celebration should be. Many of the children lost interest quickly because there was no excitement, guidance, or effort to keep them engaged. What was most disappointing was that, despite booking a two-hour party, the actual clay activity lasted only around 40 minutes. After that, there was very little for the kids to do, leaving them bored and restless for most of the remaining time. As a parent spending money to create a memorable milestone birthday for my daughter, I expected a much better-planned and professionally hosted experience. I chose this place hoping it would create happy memories for my daughter and her friends, but instead it turned into a frustrating and disappointing experience for both the kids and the parents attending the party.
