We stopped by the Busy Bee Play cafe on a Sunday morning with our 1 and 3 year old children. Coming right as they open in the morning is the ideal time to come as it is still relatively quiet during those hours. The cafe is large and clean with a variety of different formats for the children to play in. Having a dress up area, some segmented areas for blocks and trains, and individual "store fronts" was great. Our kids had a wonderful time. The only reason I took a star away was inconsistent application of rules as many children were not wearing grip socks while it was included as a requirement. We were asked to purchase these from the cafe when we checked in... which if it is an established rule is fine, but a little annoying that the rule isn't universally applied. The play cafe is also a bit more expensive at ~$17 per child ages 1-10 with no discount for multiple children (as of Feb 2026) compared to other play cafes we have been to. It also did start getting quite crowded around 10:00 AM and there didn't seem to be an end in sight. Still, it is a nice cafe and I'd recommend it to others looking for a place to take your kids, especially if you can avoid the peak periods. read more

Such a hidden gem for working parents (like me) while their toddlers and young kids get to play and burn off some energy. Busy Bees Play Café in Carmel is the perfect spot to grab a coffee while the kids play. There have been plenty of changes every time we visit and I have loved the design each time. The play area is clean and thoughtfully designed. You can tell everything was created with parents and child safety in mind! The staff are friendly and do a good job of making their rounds to tidy up! There's a great variety to keep little ones entertained. I love that I can actually relax with a coffee (which was delicious, by the way!) while still keeping an eye on my kids. Another nice touch is that there are plenty of helpful things in the bathrooms (extra clothes, diapers, wipes, etc) for parents who may have forgotten something. This happened to me the first time we visited and I was so grateful! If you're looking for an easy, fun outing with your kids (especially on cold or rainy days), Busy Bees is a must-visit. The kids will need grip socks while playing, but you can bring in your own. They are also a nut-free facility which is a plus for parents like me who has a child with a nut allergy. Absolutely love this place. Not only have we been here multiple times, but we also rented the whole place for my daughter's 4th birthday. The staff is incredible and help every step of the way. Gives my 16 month old son at least two to three hours of play before and after a meal. I love that they have the toys set up for children 6 months to 10 years old. They have a baby area that is supposed to be for up to 18 months. Unfortunately, it's not really monitored. The train table, LEGO table, spinner board and sensory area are my son's favorite. They offer several different drink options and don't kids food. I really really appreciate that I can bring in my own food. We can play for a couple hours, eat lunch and then go back to playing. They have extra diapers and wipes in the bathroom. They also have spare clothes if your child gets dirty. read more

We took our 4-year-old to Busy Bee Play Cafe and had a mixed experience. I wouldn't recommend going on a Saturday--there were two large birthday parties back-to-back, and the space was very busy with kids fighting over toys. It got pretty overstimulating with toys everywhere and a lot of chaos. On the bright side, our little one loved the hot cocoa and Rice Krispy treat--10/10! I think it is a great idea to have an indoor play area for the kids close by to home. Busy Bee is located in an industrial complex without much traffic - a big bonus. This was our first visit. We were greeted with "do you have reservations" which we did not. "Do you have grip socks?" Again, we did not. The clerk seemed annoyed that we were not with the program. We signed the waiver paid the $15 to plus $2.50 for grippy socks. We removed our shoes and entered. The Center filled quickly with playful toddlers. The cafe area has 12 tables plus high chairs. The play area is clean and includes a climbing/bounce structure, many scooting toys, a pretend village and a baby climbing area. The kids seemed to have fun. The cafe serves syrup flavored coffees, teas, energy drinks and various drinks for the kids. There is WiFi so you can connect to work, if you're working remote. There is are two party rooms for birthday parties. A gift shop offers assorted TY stuffed animals and toys, including several STEM options. There are well stocked, kid friendly restrooms with changing stations. If you forgot diapers, no problem, they've got them. My son in law spilled his coffee and within seconds, someone came over to clean the floor. The place is clean and they take keeping it clean, a priority. Except for the lack of friendly greeting, the kids had fun and we were comfortable. We were having some work done at the house I needed to find someplace to take our 4, 2 and 2 week old for a few hours. I had heard of Busy Bee but hadn't been yet and definitely wasn't disappointed! There were plenty of things for the kids to do, it wasn't over crowded and they had some comfy couches I could sit on with the baby. I got a Carmel macchiato and was pretty impressed with the quality. Only deduction is that I think it's pretty pricey to come very often but we wouldn't visit enough to warrant a membership. We loved checking out Bee Play Cafe in Zionsville. Loved all the new renovations! This place was great. Tons of things to do for kids of all ages. The Busy Bee Play Cafe located in north side of Indianapolis has been making appearance on the list of indoor playgrounds for over a year. So on a chilly day with extremely low temperatures, I decided to take my daughter here. First off, you need to reserve your play time in advance to limit the number of kids at one time. I sort of like this idea but I don't think that there is a strict enforcement of the end time, especially because the pass is called "Open Play - All Day Play". When we entered, we were one of the two parties at the check-in desk and there were 3 attendants at the desk, who seemed sort of overwhelmed. The kids need to wear gripper socks which we didn't have so that was an additional $2.50 which is pretty standard for play areas. My biggest complaint is that the entry door from the check-in area to enter the play area did not have a latch. As a result, I saw many parents (including me) getting anxious any time their kid drifted away. We put our shoes in a basket and went inside. I noticed there were two party rooms which seemed like a good size for birthday parties. They have a mix of couches and tables for parents. I picked a table which had a QR code for their cafe menu. You can provide your table number and they are supposed to bring the order to you. Well guess what? I ordered and waited and waited some more, and my order did not show up. I then noticed that the cafe isn't busy so there is no point waiting. I walked to the cafe and there were 5 staff members. I asked how much longer for my order, and I was told they do not have any order. I'd already paid for my order so I showed her the email receipt and they then started working on my coffee. The coffee was good but I was pretty disappointed on why they would have a QR code when it's not communicating with the site. I think that it's a good place to take your kids to but there isn't enough to keep them busy for hours. Wonderful space: clean, fun, friendly and a great size. Parents can enjoy coffee/drinks from the cafe, kids get to play in a fun space with a climbing play structure, a pretend city, a train set and a small section for toddlers and babies only. I brought my 7/8 yr old and 12 year and both had fun. Albeit, my oldest son was too big really but he still had fun exploring the play structure and bouncing on the mini bounce house. The place is not too too big which is great when you are watching multiple children. You can really see it all from any spot in the place. Snacks and drinks are offered for both kids and adults. Goldfish, muffins, healthy snacks, pirate booty, Honest Tea juice boxes, yogurts, etc.. Coffees, lattes, lotus drinks (energy drinks) for the adults. The pretend area is cute with ride along vehicles. It can be messy but the kids don't care one bit. Everything gets sanitized at the end of the day (I asked). I would totally recommend this place for babies to 8years. But like I said, if you've got an older child they'll have fun too. You only pay for the kids at $15 admission. Grip socks can be from any trampoline/bounce house place. Cute gift shop. What more could you want? Zville was in need of a place like this. My son and I will be getting the monthly pass. We had the pleasure of attending a birthday party here over the weekend. I have had this spot bookmarked for quite some time. It was bustling on a Sunday morning with multiple birthday parties going on at once. It appears they had two private party rooms. The play space itself features a baby friendly section, play gym, little houses for make believe play, train set and more. SUCH a great option to have in the area. The owners seem very thoughtful of all the little details, including headphones for kiddos when it's too loud and potty seats in the bathrooms. Hand sanitizer is set up throughout and there's a bin for chewed on toys to be sanitized. I like the new arrangement how there's more room to play instead of so many tables and my kiddos love how there are sometimes new activities or table displays on each visit so they don't get bored. The owners also keep a very active social media presence and regularly poll their customers to get ideas for updates and innovations. I really appreciate how responsive they are to their customers and have such a strong desire to serve the community. What a bee-tiful delightful addition to the area! Free parking in the lot with the entrance on 96th St. After a few minutes here, it's easy to recognize how thoughtfully crafted this establishment is. Private party rooms for rent, snacks for adults and children, coffee/tea bar, ear protection for the more sensitive, designated area for the more little, massage chairs, play gym, and all sort of toys to keep the kiddos entertained. We arrived shortly after opening and it wasn't long before the place filled up. Rsvp highly recommended to guarantee play at desired time. Waivers and non-slip socks are required. Not sure if it was intentional but the activity caterpillar at the registration desk was very helpful keeping my toddler busy while i registered. Bought a play pass as we will definitely be back! The bathrooms were stocked with anything you could need, including emergency clothes, pads, and tampons. You could see all of the play areas from just about everywhere. Staff were super friendly and coffee was delicious. My only recommendation is to open earlier. read more

Children ran wild, barely any parents minded what their children were doing. As a toddler parent, I was concerned about the cleanliness and sanitation of toys. Also, children were throwing things around and almost hit me and one of my toddlers. Maybe some sort of division between the age groups would go a long way. I don't have kids, but my best friend and I are always looking for ways to hang out with her kids and also catch up - and I swear Busy Bee found the perfect solution. Her kids are 4 & 7, so they are independent and can play while we chat and grab coffee. The coffee is actually really good and the place is very clean. I will say, we went on a Sunday afternoon and it was PACKED, so either go on the waitlist, bring your patience, or maybe choose an afternoon slot. Brought my 15 month old here and he had a blast. He was too young for the indoor playground part with slides but he enjoyed the 6 year and under section (they also have an 18 months and under part). During the spring we started attending Busy Bee Play Cafe nearly every other week! We love it more and more every time we go. They have a cafe in the front where you can purchase snacks & order drinks. They have an indoor jungle gym set up that is small enough where you can always see your child! I love this because other indoor play areas are sometimes so big that it makes it hard to spot your little. They also have music/story time once a week that is great for younger kids that are learning how to follow directions and learn new skills. One of the other perks is that your admission is good for the entire day. So you can leave & come back if needed! Also, they do not mind if you bring outdoor food into the location! Had a birthday here and flat out do not recommend it. The setup and party room were nicely done. Our 'package' included a party attendant who I saw once and had to ask for water for guests that's supposed to come standard in the room. Maybe she forgot or maybe I have high standards but after spending $400 plus I don't think I should have to remind her. Staff seated at the front do not move from their station, there's no one checking the play area for safety. Regarding safety, 3 party goers got their leg stuck between the enclosure and the bounce house, with one being carried out and going to urgent care. I informed the owner via email after the party and brought up my concerns and she said she would 'look into it.' We absolutely loved our first visit here. We have a 7 month old and 3.5 year old who loves slides and has a lot of energy. It was very clean and they have an area for little babies, but a blocks area on a soft service closer to the big play area so that you can keep your eye on little ones playing. Their cold brew was delicious, staff was great, and it was nice to hang with other parents who are exactly in your shoes. My only negative had nothing to do with the staff but with the fact that I can't stand it when parents let their kids crowd around the end of a slide and allow to climb up it. I don't want your child to hurt my child when she's following the rules and your child isn't. I seriously had to keep redirecting someone elses child because mine wanted to go down the slide and they kept trying to climb up it. I was trying to get a photo of her coming down and four of them kept piling on to the end. My little one is only three and they were closer to 6, old enough to know better. I know this is a great place for kids to be kids and burn off energy but you still need to actually watch your kids and make them follow the rules, otherwise it's no fun for everyone. The bathrooms are a proper height for little kids, have a step stool so they can wash their hands and free diapers and wipes in the bathroom for little babies, which I think is great because how bad would that be to have a poop situation and run out of diapers? They're very committed to families and parents. Every town and every airport needs one of these. My only suggestion is do reduce the monthly membership fee. If the Childrens museum is $320 for a whole family.... $75 per month x 12 months is $900. But I guess it would work better if you wanted it for just the winter months, and it's not really an option at the childrens museum. Overall we really like this place. I'm often outnumbered especially on weekends with my hubby working so this place is truly going to be a life saver for me! I'll probably buy a play pass soon. read more

This has been one of the most unprofessional experiences I have ever experienced. Especially from the party manager, Shelby Wilson. From the first interaction with her, when a question was asked, she looked at the staff member she brought over to confront us, smirked and rolled her eyes. When this was called out as unprofessional, she got defensive and angry. She started to threaten to kick us out. She then began to target our group. From an individual who has taught classes about customer service, this is not how you handle any type of customer interaction. Luckily the children will not understand what has occurred. As for bringing 6-8 staff members over to tell us that we were now trespassing, what on earth were you thinking. Luckily, I decided to remain professional, or it would have be a different situation. Your staff members obviously have not had experience with highly educated individuals, who are used to asking questions. They do not know how to answer those questions without getting angry and frustrated. This then led them to target a group of mothers and children. Train your staff better. Teach them how to have better customer relation skills, especially if you, the owner, are going to be on the phone with them the whole time. As the owner, you should be ashamed. You should refund the money and apologize for how poorly this situation was handled, by the poorly trained staff. I would not recommend this place to any one with children. I will continue to voice what happened during our time there today, March 10th. This was a highly unprofessional business, with unprofessional and undertrained staff. read more

This is a very difficult review to leave as the concept of this place is amazing and something unique and fun that any parent would love for their kids to experience. I'm still incredibly shook up about what took place here today-on my daughters 3rd birthday- and will never return or expose my kids to the nasty behavior from management (Shelby Wilson) and mockery of certain teenagers employed at this establishment. I had been here before when I celebrated one of my other daughter's birthday last month and despite a few hiccups my kids had a blast and so we returned. Prior to reserving play time, I looked all on the website and didn't see anything about not having a birthday in the common space- nor did it say it was required to reserve a room. As a single mom of 3 with few mom friends, I didn't think it would be such a sin to reserve play time for my babies and a few friends from daycare to give my daughter a beautiful time with friends. After the experience today 3/10/24- now the verbiage and policies on the website have been updated and changed to reflect the constant change in rules etc that were being made to all of us, and done so today as a way to excuse the unsurmountable & disrespectful behaviors that were displayed. I did bring gifts and party favor bags for the kids and a cookie cake. I was met with the manager Shelby, whom I already had a weird interaction with the last time I was there (info on first interaction on another review due to exceeding the character limit). As she looked at me and my things in disgust, she told me I couldn't have a party there nor hold any ceremony because it wasn't fair to the people that paid and reserved a room. I apologized and said I had no idea, but I paid play time for everyone and didn't think it was wrong to enjoy the space and also do a small celebration for her at the same time and apologized again. I told her that I had also checked online to make sure this wouldn't be an issue (I would've definitely done this somewhere else had I known). I told her I thought it was kind of like Chuck E. Cheese where you can do something small and quick and that it was my fault for assuming but I did put things away and continued to let my kids have fun. A few moments later she came again and told me she needed to inform me again because I wasn't listening ( I was literally sitting there still processing and ashamed feeling like I ruined my daughters day. Things were put up in bags). She then talked to me like I was a child and said that once again I couldn't sing happy birthday or cut a cake or let her open any presents and pointed at the cookie cake. I told her I thought we could still eat and she said you can eat it but you can't sing for her birthday. My throat was literally in my stomach at this point just from how she was speaking to me and for my kids I remained respectful. I reminded her of the last time I was there and how she had already been rude to me and she said she didn't remember and then my mom friends talked to her so they could also grasp the situation. My friends requested to speak to a manager/owner above her because of how she was talking to us. She went to go get it but brought back the number to the actual establishment so there wasn't anyone else that we could talk to. My mom also made food for us to eat while the kids played. My friend asked the front and we asked Shelby as well during one of her confrontations with us if we could bring food in because it did say online we could bring outside food and others at tables had food on their own accord as well. She said we could. My mom brought in a small pot of rice and pot of Mexican mole. I left the table area to try to get a picture of my daughter and when I looked over my mom and mom friends had been approached by 4 teenagers that worked there. They were telling them they couldn't eat and we should've brought separate containers. We said we were all going to eat the same thing so it wouldn't be ideal to pack containers per person and we were trying to save space. They were very disrespectful and had all the attitude while we were simply asking questions and gaining clarification because we had been told we could bring food in and that had suddenly changed. I wondered if that suddenly changed because we were eating Mexican food? Did they hear my mom speak in Spanish? Were we too diverse of a group? Nonetheless, they didn't appreciate us trying to understand them with questions and said we needed to leave immediately because now we were trespassing and they were going to call the police on us and they were following orders made by the owner (but we couldn't speak to the owner at all?) At this point, it was clear they were targeting women that are POC and all educators. Every conversation was confrontational and met with additional rules after we made sure to ask what we could do and couldn't do and follow the rules while ensuring the kids had a good time.
