Kathleen efficiently sorted through the mess, helped us re-file a number of returns, and took over our annual tax preparation. For almost two decades, our returns were relatively complex, involving multi-family real properties, investment accounts and several more complex forms of investment. Kathleen managed all of this with ease and kept us well informed about her process. Her work regularly saved us considerable sums, as she was always up-to-date on the latest wrinkles in tax law. Her fees were reasonable to start with, and, over the past two years' returns, as our tax picture became less complex (we'd unwound many of our more complicated investments) she reduced them still further. We now live quite a ways from Seattle - and have for 8 years. Until now, we had remained with Kathleen because we appreciate her services. This year, we finally cut the cord, after finding an excellent practitioner not 3 miles away from us in our small town. While we *could* have handled all our reports, forms and such remotely, we preferred to have at least one or two review meetings and it's just become way too difficult to drive into Seattle! It was a LOT of complex and complicated work, and Kathleen dove in and straightened it all out wonderfully. Her fees were reasonable compared to doing the same kind of tax work with other CPAs and even H&R Block (who will charge you out the *** if you aren't a simple 1099), especially considering everything I asked of her. She really helped me out of the disaster my old employer made out of my taxes. She was a total pro the whole time, and I really appreciated all her hard work. Fast forward a decade and I was in desperate need of copies of some old taxes she had done because my records got lost and I needed them very badly. Kathleen went above and beyond to dig through old records, old computer files and databases, old backups, you name it! She was able to retrieve some very important information for me that I really needed to have and could not find anywhere else - not even from the IRS! She did all this for a former client with no question and was really kind about it! I was just absolutely floored by how much trouble she went to in order to help me out, especially as I had not been a client for years because I moved out of state. Then come back with a pre-defined PowerPoint with a minimum price of $2,500. Next, they will never tell you when your tax returns are completed or give you an estimate. I asked them over 10 emails if they could give me the month and they have yet to say they could. So they actually wait until the very last day to file. This happened to me. I also believe I went through 4 different CPAs from my original chat in March to Now September 2023. Don't believe the hype. Find a local CPA who actually cares. This is a horrible service and company.

I was delightfully reminded today when I received an email for SOMEONE ELSE'S TAX RETURN for the SECOND TIME THIS YEAR. Yes, you read that right, this is the second time they have emailed me about someone else's refund/information/ect. My experience in 2018 is still being passed around my family & friend group because it's so unbelievable. I had my first big year (2017) of basically full time-freelance money on top of my full-time job, so I thought I would seek a professional's help. I was super organized with passing off/organizing my paperwork & expenses, but was greeted with 21 questions/judgement on why I "did hire an employee to manage all my stuff" (again, my first and only year I have done that much work) I stuck it out with her office though and was transferred to a really nice man who put my return together. After I sent a payment to the IRS because I owed, I was NEVER invited in to go over my return in person or sent my return paperwork via mail. The only contact I received after payment was 2 notifications saying they needed to "extend" my return. As time went on, I was planning a wedding, and grabbing my return copies completely slipped my mind... Until 2019, when I decided to do my taxes with my husband. We found out that my taxes that I hired Cindy to do WERE NEVER FILED. The IRS told me to file a complaint. I called Cindy's office multiple times, leaving multiple messages asking for my return & what happened...she NEVER returned my call. I finally got ahold of her and she was extremely angry and rude on that phone claiming "she was too busy to deal with this and would look into finding my paperwork later". A month went by, as tax season came to almost an end, and I was able to reach the lady at the front desk who seemed embarrassed by the whole situation and pulled my paperwork within 30 minutes. I drove up to the office, where Cindy greeted me with my paperwork acting like nothing was wrong. You know, I was only picking up my 2017 tax return paperwork in 2019 that was never filed. No acknowledgement... There is no excuse she could use for this experience. If I could give 0-stars I would. I am sad I didn't pass this information on sooner, but thanks to an email meant for someone else - I was able to write my review.
