It gives me the perfect opportunity--or maybe just an excuse!--to explore other spots around downtown while I'm there. Second, every employee is genuinely friendly from the moment you walk in until the moment you leave. You can tell customers feel comfortable shopping here, and it's easy to see the great relationship the staff has built with the community. Finally, the quality of the products speaks for itself. As soon as I got home, I marinated the pork chops from the Meat Box along with a pound of the shrimp and threw everything on the grill. Needless to say, it made for an incredible Saturday. The pork chops were juicy, flavorful, and perfectly tender, and the shrimp were an absolute hit with my family. We'll definitely be back.

Their deli cheese and meats are above average. Full disclosure, I don't use Food Lion as my primary grocery store. I do however hit Food Lions to pickup items when I don't want to stop at Walmart. Food Lion (at the time of this writing) does not have self checkouts. This can be good or bad depending on your perception of self checkouts. Some people love them, some hate them. I like having the option. One good thing I like about Food Lion is they take Apple Pay. Big time plus for me.

The steak itself was absolutely delicious, tender and very flavorful (we used a reverse sear method on a charcoal grill) and we wouldn't hesitate to stop again. Check out the website for prices and options but be aware they may not have what you want in stock. At the request of the online site, I emailed the business the week before to order my steak but got no response (which is why I have it 4 stars).
