Oliver and his team run a fine shop. I've yet to have a bad meal that they have prepared, and their steaks and Irish sausages are top notch. I regularly order catering trays from them for the events at a local bar, and so far everything has been wonderful. It's a smaller place but pa is a huge punch bc they have a wide variety of Irish foods. Their home made cocktail sausages ; breakfast sausages; black and white; curry and leek sausages are far superior to anything you get any most butchers. I still come from Jersey to buy their meats. Visiting from MD, I was ecstatic to discover a shop selling Black & White Pudding- and was quickly delightfully overwhelmed by their selection of Irish products (meats, breads, and snacks included). Oh how I wish we lived close enough to become regulars- Our first visit was a bit lukewarm- while asking questions it was evident the shop guy was having a bad day, and really didn't want to handle questions about 'how much' etc. so we were quickly in and out. On our second visit, he noted remembering we purchased meats the day before, and began to joke around asking how much pudding have I eaten- when I explained I felt the need to stock up- he warmed up to us, making suggestions about buying products- it was definitely a much friendlier experience. Their calculation is shady. They refuse to give you receipts or the itemized bills even when you ask for them by saying "We don't do that", so you have to pay what they tell you to. I'd say they overcharged me about $10+. My friends had the even worse experience, and they walked out without buying anything since they didn't agree with the total amount they were charged. BE VERY CAREFUL and do your own calculation if you shop there. We won't. read more

This is my go-to Irish butcher. About twice a month I drive from Central Westchester to pick up Irish sausages, rashers, black/white pudding. I love this place. The area is quaint, yet bustling. Irish themed stores and restaurants line the entire strip. I always find metered street parking outside the butcher shop and the meters give you 10 minutes free if you are just running in and out. Butcher's Fancy offers all the staples you need for a nice irish meal. Everything from Irish sausages to homemade pot pie, pork/lamb chops and gravy mixes. I usually get the sausages/rashers/puddings and they are all excellent. I love that the sausages are not overly greasy and FULL of flavor. Same goes for the rashers and puddings. Love the ground beef and chicken breasts - fresh and flavorful. Prices are competitive with what you would expect (sausages @ $5.99/lb and pudding @ $5.99/lb). I will definitely be using Butcher's Fancy for my next Sunday roast - I cannot wait to try their other meats. Always very friendly and welcoming to me and my daughter when we go. read more

Got a dinner here today,The dinner was fine but the portion was terrible,It was bacon and cabbage with mash.It came with 3 thin slices of bacon two tiny scoops of mash,and filled with cabbage and gravy rushing home after a hard days work didn't want to cook and figured it would be a nice change to have a home cooked meal.The portions were so small except for the cabbage I ended up going out to get another home cooked dinner,first time ever in this establishment but definitely will be the last they charged $12 for basically cabbage and mashed potatoes as the ham was nonexistent,looked to be a nice spot especially with home cooked meals but I guess I was wrong the reviews were good,but nothing special to be honest,the staff were nice and friendly,service was fine except for the meal it was definitely a child's portion,ended up going down the street to a deli in the Bronx,got the same meal pretty much for two dollars less and the portions were huge and it came out hot double the mash and veg got a chicken dish which was full of chicken mash and veg hit a large portion and delicious.Wouldn't recommend this place for dinners don't know about the rest of the food they serve. read more

The other meats are good quality for the price, but keep in mind this is a mid-range neighborhood butcher, not a place to snag prime steakhouse cuts. I went with some good looking shoulder lamb chops on my last visit. There are also cooked dishes and sausage rolls available for takeout, which I have yet to sample as I usually combine a visit here with a meal at the Irish Coffee Shop. Got food catered for a party and not too impressed with it, which is a shame because any other time I have ordered food from there it's been good! First of all, the meat trays were just over half full. The meats we ordered were plastered in sauce, and quite frankly there was no taste off any of the food (even with the copious amounts of sauce).
