I think it's pretty difficult to get personality into spaces with a wide open front that open onto a mall or walk way but it can be done as wit places like Bills in the Bullring. The designs on the walls and in the cafe feel a little bit canteen here for me and the space feels a little bit cold overall. I had a pretty good chai latte but it was not the hottest it could have been which again just slightly let it down for me. The place was quite busy when I went in which could explain them rushing the drinks but I have only been once so have to judge it on the experience I had that day.Paying over £3.00 for a lukewarm drink is just not ideal. I will be back to try again and hopefully i'll have a much better experience to report :)

The coffee here is good, creamy, but very sharp. I've asked them to make sure their decaf supplies are kept high (they ran out, apparently there was a sea of rabid Yelpers draining their supplies yesterday). 8oz is a little small, the large measures are well worth the premium price tag. For food we had a sharing portion of wings and a black pudding scotch egg. Both were SO good, very fresh and generally amazing. Another one for the to-do list of you haven't already! This branch of Urban Coffee has a small mezzanine area where they sometimes have events or private hires making it more versatile than some of the other cafes. Due to that and its location you get a real mixed crowd of people in the store all the time. Everyone from young creatives right through to suited and booted businessmen are regularly enjoying a cup of the dark stuff in the chilled out and laid back space. My personal favourite beverage from here is a skimmed hazelnut latte....if you are into hazelnut flavoured drinks they syrup they are using here is AMAZING.

I tell you what - this cafe is not cheap. The avocado smash and a coffee cost me more than £10. Can you believe that? In Birmingham! Morning coffee part II…read more I must have walked past this place 1000 times and thought it was closed down...today I found out why! It is simply not open on weekends, and is not on my short walk to work! I went in this morning and was quickly welcomed by the owner, he was chatty and polite making me my coffee while I had a look around. I have to say the coffee was average, but how friendly the staff are makes up for that. If you want some friendly chat and a warm welcome to start your day, this place is worth a try.

Although I would say the potato wedges they offer are just frozen ones you can get from the super market and it's the little things like that that let it down. Having expanded the business from a smaller space at they now also offer catering and venue hire too. If you are down that way for a meeting or to check out the shops its a good place to eat.

They serve the normal range of breakfast butties, tea, coffee etc,. in the mornings at a really reasonable price, and at lunches have a massive choice. They have the usual salads, wraps and sandwiches, but have also started dabbling in chinese dishes which is long overdue (nowhere else in the town centre does a Chinese lunch buffet as far as I am aware!). They deliver to your door if you work in the town cenre, you can pre-order, and they are always laughing and smiling - what more could you want? Oh and they are also of the attitude that they want to gear their business around what the customer wants so they welcome honest feedback and want suggestions of what they are missing on the menu. Quality is of utmost importance to Donna and I have known her throw whole cakes away that she has baked because she thinks they are not 'quite' to standard - even though they have seemed fine to me. All the dishes are prepared by hand by Donna or her small team. The only one little negative I guess is its quite small so you may be pushed to find a seat at busy times, especially outside as there are only a couple of tables. I've only ever popped in here a couple of times for a coffee on the go, and with a sign out front declaring 'proper coffee' available it gives you hope for a good brew. Sadly I was left disappointed. I'm not sure if the guy who served me is normally the cook or whether they were shorthanded but my Vanilla Latte was just meh. I can honestly say i don't think i've ever been asked how much vanilla before and do I also want sugar. Having said this the coffee itself was tasty, it was just the vanilla part of the latte that was a fail. Although i haven't eaten here they seem to do a good range for veggies and the food is generally cheap to eat here. Whilst they do have places to sit outside as well as inside, it's small size and busy lunch queues does make it feel too crushed for a relaxing bite to eat. Worth trying if you need something on the go but unless you are passing through or work over the St. Paul's, Jewellery Quarter area it's a bit out of the way to make a point in visiting.

The only downfall of this place is that the salad box comes to around £4.70 which is too expensive for me to go here everyday. It's a nice treat though!
