The house reeks of cigarette smoke. It's so bad our party decided not to stay. There was feces left…read morein one of the toilets. Very dirty. The clutter is part of the house but the smell makes any cool part of the house not enjoyable because it is so pungent and horrid. The photos posted here by owner are deceiving an outdated. Owner also was rude to us when we said we weren't going to stay. There are cats EVERYWHERE. There is cat hair covering everything including the beds. There was cat hair in the breakfast food. If I could give negative stars I would. Don't stay here.

Our entire experience was bizarre, to say the least. Check the pictures posted by guests here…read morecarefully. The pictures posted by the owners are very outdated. The house is beautiful and was probably a sight to behold at one time, but the owners have a hoarding problem. My husband and I booked a room here for the 2019 Omelette Festival weekend. There was so much clutter EVERYWHERE, floor to ceiling and in between that you could barely move. There was no place to sit down, much less open a suitcase. The dining-room table had so much dusty stuff on it that you couldn't set a drink down. How or where would we eat breakfast? The bed was covered in cat hair. We could not stay. When we told the owner that we couldn't stay, and we were trying not to be rude by saying that it was just not for us. She threw an insult on us, which was uncalled for. A word to the wise... if you plan on booking this place, go check it out in person first.

What can I say besides this was the best place to be during the holidays growing up…read more Ms.Cheryl was the most excellent hostess and has been for many years of not over a decade. I highly doubt many people are coming down this way, but if you do, & you get a chance, stay here. It's quiet and full of history, the good and the ugly, but without a doubt, a must visit. The attic used to contain hundreds of artifacts and history pieces but the owner sold all of it unfortunately... I remember finding out Santa wasn't real here, haha, having an Easter egg hunt with my classmates, and there are always used to be tons of weddings taking place here :) if you get a chance to check out the bowling lane please do! It's very interesting

EXCUSE ME. WHERE IS THE LOVE BUTTON?…read more This is my favorite hotel in the whole state! I stay at hotels pretty regularly in New Orleans (which is known for having wonderful boutique hotels and B&B's) and the Fairfax tops them all. Cheryl always is friendly and courteous every time I come there! There are only SIX rooms in this plantation house built in 1852 but they are six magically captivating rooms! Rates are reasonable and of course come with breakfast (and free wifi). I usually can get the Fairfax or Murphy Suite for $169/ngt. The other four rooms are very comfortable as well. There is also a bar area with tables and chairs next to the lobby. The city of Franklin is a very peaceful and charming town with lots of character. New Iberia is only 25 miles away if you want to make a day trip to a bigger city with more shopping/dining options. This is my escape from all the noise and traffic I usually am encountering in the French Quarter. A beautiful and romantic place to stay away from it all. I really recommend the Fairfax House to anyone seeking a different kind of stay than your usual modern chain hotels.

Our stay at T Frere bed and breakfast…read more When me and my husband arrived at T'Frere's House Bed & Breakfast we were very excited to be staying at this B&B because of the history of the house. We were met a few mins after we arrived by Miss Donna she was very friendly and we quickly felt right at home. She showed us around the common areas explained door codes made us feel like we were family. We met Casey and he brought to our attention all the new art work that was acquired for the common rooms, as well as some more history of the house and the fact that soon there will be a small scale model of the house before it was remodeled hand crafted from memory i spired by a 96 year old man that grew up in the house but lives close by. We chose the Fais Do Do suit little private walk way off the courtyard but we look forward to staying in the main house next time. The house was built in 1890 and I have to say I was never hot anywhere in the house or our suit. Louisiana is hot and humid lol The courtyard is beautiful a very nice gentleman was outside hanging lights above the courtyard I can't imagine them not being there they look amazing. Be sure and check for books in the Parlor for info about the B&B history. Our suit had a mini fridge, Keurig, very nice king size towels lots of pillows and lots of plugs, Free WiFi, comfortable bed very spacious rooms, cable tv, beverages and ice are in the guest fridge in the main house. We had breakfast in the sun room at 8:30 delicious eggs, bacon, and biscuits with OJ and Coffee but breakfast changes daily. We will definitely be returning and look forward to staying in each of the rooms. The staff make this place extra special!! And the science museum is right down the road couple miles.
