Our stay at T Frere bed and breakfast When me and my husband arrived at T'Frere's House Bed & Breakfast we were very excited to be staying at this B&B because of the history of the house. We were met a few mins after we arrived by Miss Donna she was very friendly and we quickly felt right at home. She showed us around the common areas explained door codes made us feel like we were family. We met Casey and he brought to our attention all the new art work that was acquired for the common rooms, as well as some more history of the house and the fact that soon there will be a small scale model of the house before it was remodeled hand crafted from memory i spired by a 96 year old man that grew up in the house but lives close by. We chose the Fais Do Do suit little private walk way off the courtyard but we look forward to staying in the main house next time. The house was built in 1890 and I have to say I was never hot anywhere in the house or our suit. Louisiana is hot and humid lol The courtyard is beautiful a very nice gentleman was outside hanging lights above the courtyard I can't imagine them not being there they look amazing. Be sure and check for books in the Parlor for info about the B&B history. Our suit had a mini fridge, Keurig, very nice king size towels lots of pillows and lots of plugs, Free WiFi, comfortable bed very spacious rooms, cable tv, beverages and ice are in the guest fridge in the main house. We had breakfast in the sun room at 8:30 delicious eggs, bacon, and biscuits with OJ and Coffee but breakfast changes daily. We will definitely be returning and look forward to staying in each of the rooms. The staff make this place extra special!! And the science museum is right down the road couple miles. read more

My daughter and I stayed in the Mardi Gras room 12-28 through 12-30-23. It is a very inviting place. Ms. Donna was so kind. The home is beautiful. It has an old feel but with modern amenities. I loved the enclosed patio where breakfast was served. It had a charming ambiance. The owner kept encouraging us to make the inn "our home." I also liked that the refrigerator had drinks and food in it for us to snack on. Very reasonably priced. I would definitely stay again. read more

Very nice B&B located near Lafayette in Louisiana. It is located near an important road so it is highly recommended to specifically ask for a room in the back of the house (there are some rooms in another small house at the back, much quieter). You can tell that the owners put love into this bed and breakfast. It's clean and extremely comfortable. We woke up to a delicious home-cooked meal by the owner's grandmother who was a total delight. The kitchen is fully stocked and the rooms have smart TVs which we enjoyed. Eating breakfast in the glass enclosed patio was a great way to start the morning. My husband and I stayed 2 nights and it was so quiet and peaceful. The inn keepers are super sweet... Breakfast is ready and served at 8:30 and it's so good, everyday it's different and it doesn't disappoint. We stayed in the Lafayette room upstairs, you do hear a lil road noise at times but the room is spacious and the bed is so comfortable. We will be back in the near future. read more

This is a lovely little B&B that is a nice alternative to commercial hotels if you like to experience new things. It's in a residential area in a big house that's just beautiful. When we made our reservations all of the rooms in the house were full so we stayed in a small building behind the house that looks like a shed from the back. However, it is very nicely landscaped and has a porch on the front and two more bedrooms with private bathrooms located inside. One of the rooms had a queen size bed and one a king. The rooms were not large but they had everything we needed for the night including our own Keurig coffee maker with local coffees. When we got there we had a key to the main house where there was a refrigerator for customers that had water, soda, local beer and wine for our use (all included in the price of our stay). The main house was lovely with a sun room where you could eat breakfast. Breakfast was delicious! We had blueberry scones, crispy bacon, eggs, and fresh fruit with cream. We where offered hot coffee, orange juice and water and everything was served on real china, silver utensils, and wine glasses for our orange juice. It was lovely! The reason I didn't give five stars is because the bathtub in our room wasn't very clean (my boyfriend wanted to take a bath and so he noticed it more than you probably normally would have) and the porch light would not go out. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but the shutters wouldn't close all the way and the lace curtains didn't stop much light from leaking through. There was also a tub of construction going on that made it tricky getting into and out of the parking lot. (Something the proprietors could do nothing about) Overall it was a lovely night stay and well worth the money. read more

Really enjoyed my stay last weekend at T'frere's House! We had the Louisiana room - spacious enough, comfortable bed, garden views, private bath, spotlessly clean - but got glimpses of the other rooms as well. "Cozy" and "quaint" and "southern gothic" come to mind when revisiting my stay. Louisiana is not optimal territory for my eating habits, and T'frere's did forget that we had requested vegetarian meals for our (included) breakfast. The T'Juleps that greeted us upon arrival contained artificial sweetener (I'm picky, ok? We know that.). But it's Louisiana, and I'm used to having to bring a stash of snacks in the car...organic and vegetarian are not common currency here. Just keep in mind that velveeta and crystal light might well be on the menu at any gourmet restaurant in this town. The owners were out of town, but Jason couldn't have been nicer! He gave us great recommendations on uncommon attractions in the area and really made us feel welcome. I would recommend this b&b to anyone who can stomach a night in any non-Ritz establishment - it's charming and endearing and perfect and, hey, there are cats in the garden. read more

The reason I am writing this review is because we are returning next month for two nights. I promised to write a review when we stayed last summer but I didn't because we were busy traveling. But here is why we are returning this summer. Pat and Maugi were wonderful hosts, welcoming and friendly. Our room was beautiful and comfortable. The rooms are very romantic. We stayed in the Garconniere and it is very quiet and beautiful back there. We had coffee in the small courtyard early in the morning. We enjoyed our breakfast and got to visit with fellow guests from England. We had a wonderful experience and we are excited to return. read more

This was not my normal B&B experience and I was a little surprised, but decided this was a positive experience. So, the previous owners sold the B&B to an investor. The investor does not live on site nor did they ever visit the site while I was there for 2 nights. At first I was taken a back by this, I was expecting to talk with the owners, share conversations with long time residents of site, but this proved to be a unique B&B experience. First of all, we decided to stay in the back cabin with our friends. It was comfortable, clean, quiet, and full of charm. It looks like a plain cabin from the outside, but it's furnished with antiques and modern amenties like a flat screen tv and wifi, etc. The room had a French feel to it. The air-conditioning in it was also a life saver in the heat and humidity of the summer. Since we were the only guests the first night, we had the entire site to ourselves. We got to look at every room in the main house and it looks like a real treat to stay in the main house full of history and charm. The main house is simply beautiful. We were staying with our other 2 friends and felt we could be louder in the separate cabin without disturbing other guests, otherwise I would have stayed in the main house. We ran into a staff person on our first night. We missed cocktail hour. She was super helpDful with tips for everything in the area. Breakfast was really good. The cook who comes in to do breakfast is good and friendly. I'm lactose intolerant and she didn't hesitate to whip up a special dish for me. She also gave us great insights about the culture and recommendations for the area. They stock the guest fridge with all kinds of drinks, both alcoholic and non alcoholic, and snacks complimentary. And one day I came back to fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. All in all in was a wonderful experience. read more

Recently spent a week here, and it was a wonderful warm experience from start to finish. The family that runs it, Pat, Maugie and son John all go out of their way to make sure that your every need is met. This comes in the form of extravagant breakfasts, afternoon cocktails and canapes, and planning day trips. Maugie is crazy, in the best and most wonderful way, so outgoing and energetic and welcoming - she makes you feel not only at home but part of the family. Breakfast is wonderful and both John and Pat make it memorable, especially Pat with his stories about a particularly colorful Cajun. We are moving to the area and will certainly recommend this B & B to anyone who comes to visit. read more

So happy we chose to stay here! I live in Chicago but I'm in town fairly often, since my whole family lives in Lafayette. Sometimes my husband and I want a little privacy, so we'll stay at a hotel. This last trip, we decided to stay at a bed-and-breakfast instead. I've driven by this place a hundred times, and I only wish I had stayed here sooner! T'frere's was just so perfect. We loved our room~~the "Fais Do Do" room. It's spacious enough to be comfortable, the bathroom was perfect, and the whole space was really clean. And the service absolutely can't be matched. Both staff members we interacted with were beyond accommodating and helpful. The grounds were beautiful as well. We'll definitely be back soon! read more

My sister and I just spent a lovely "sister weekend" in Lafayette and stayed at T-frere's. Melody greeted us when we arrived and gave us a little history of the house and showed us to our room. Simone also checked on us to see if we needed anything and we named a few places we wanted to visit as we hadn't been to Lafayette since USL fifty years ago. She couldn't have been more helpful with directions, information on many places and also made us reservations at two restaurants we had fond memories of. Wine was waiting every night when we returned and although located on a busy intersection, the house was always quiet. There is a very nice courtyard in the back not shown in the pictures. Breakfast was very good and served at 8:30 every morning inside or on the sun porch with coffee and juice waiting when you arrive. We can't wait to go back. Thank you Simone and staff.... I don't normally stay in a B+B but we were visiting family in Lafayette and did not want to stay in a chain hotel. We had the entire upper floor. The rooms very clean and comfortable. The bed was really great. I have not slept so well in a long time. We were on the front of the house but we could not hear the road outside. Breakfast was wonderful. All of us are vegetarians and there were no problems with out dietary needs. We had fresh mixed fruit, homemade biscuits, eggs and French toast. There was red and white with plus beer every night. The ladies that took care of us could not have been more polite. We plan to return on our next trip to Lafayette read more

I wish that I could agree with the other 2 reviews. We scheduled 2 nights here (because of Frommer's enthusiastic recommendation) and left after 1 night). Yes, the family could not have been any friendlier or more accommodating, so I feel badly giving a rave-free review. Here's the kicker for me. I have 2 requirements that need to be met when I sleep away from home. I want a comfortable bed and a quiet room- surely that's not too much to ask at nearly $150/night. Unfortunately for this business, Verot School Road is extremely busy so even our cottage tucked in the back of the property, was noisy. I had requested the quietest room that they have and we had to turn on the bathroom fan to drown out the cars and trucks. The king bed was hard- a comfy mattress with substantial linens, would do wonders to upgrade this room. For me, Frommer's "country" ambience felt a bit tired around the edges. Most of this didn't bother my husband, though he was happy to move for the second night. I agree with Liz about the regional food. We tried hard to love it but... I didn't see any of the main house rooms so you're just getting my brief snapshot. Again, I'm sorry not to be more positive because Pat and Maugie are clearly very nice people. read more
