Instead of buying online like I usually do, I thought it would be nice to support a local business. I should've stayed home with the lack of service I received. I was looking for an adapter for my light stand that's NOT brand-specific, but the guy behind the counter pretty much showed the most lack of enthusiasm to help me out by shutting down my store visit with, "I'm not familiar with this brand. Sorry." Uhhh ok. Are people raving about the same "knowledgeable" person or does someone else work here? Is this a camera equipment store or not? Looks like I'm sticking to B&H, Samy's and Adorama, my tried and true shops. This shop had a good selection of cameras and the salesman was quite helpful and knowledgeable. And his dog was very friendly, too!

after spending over $50 for 48 pictures i am so disappointed. they never called us to let us know the pictures were developed. we also received the wrong pictures and were offered a disposable camera for our trouble and 3 days later we are still waiting for our pictures. poor customer service. Unfortunately we will not return. read more

I am sorry to have to post this review of the Camera Shop. I have used their services many times over the years,but was disappointed with my recent transaction. I took in some very old slides to have prints made from them. Since I explained the age of them to the professional before leaving them, I made the assumption that the staff would notify me if the prints were not coming out very well. I even had to prepay for the entire process before they would scan and print, which totaled $78.00 for 42 slides and a disc. Had I known the quality of the prints(from old slide) was going to be so poor, I would have declined the prints and CD. Professionally, someone from the shop should have made a call just to inform me, or give me a heads up. That is what good customer service is all about, and this shop lacks customer service. As much as I try to support small businesses in Muskegon, this will be my last experience with the Camera shop. read more

First off, having a specialty store such as the Camera Shop in your home town is luxury many take for granted. I have learned over the years as a traveling consultant that stores such as these are few and far between. I am currently a semi-professional shooter that travels the US throughout the year doing my "real" job and only buy my gear and get my technical advice from the team at Muskegon Camera Shop. I have been buying gear, the right way mind you, from Justin Stubleski and Jim Beebe for over 10 years now. Never have I been unable to ask questions regarding what gear is best suited for my needs, should I think of one brand over the other and what are my options financially. Photography is not a cheap hobby or profession and I can honestly say that from my first Sony midlevel entry camera to my professional a7 bodies and now my Olympus OMD system, Justin and the team have had my back every step of the way. My goals in photography have been increasingly demanding over the past years going from soccer games of my kids to producing 4 foot by 6 foot acrylic prints for local businesses that I never would have thought possible without the advice and services of this store and team. I'm looking forward to picking up my latest purchase, a new Sigma Art Lens and adaptor that I purchased over the phone in order to take advantage of the Sigma sale that is currently going on. You see, in a store like this, when I ask to be informed when something like this takes place, Justin and the team actually call me or get me the info when I'm on the road and would most likely miss out the promotions being offered. My wife and I went to the Camera Shop (Muskegon) for advice regarding my camera that she was having some soft image issues with. Justin was very knowledgable and provided great feedback on solutions for the issue. He spent a fairly long time talking to us and giving suggestions. He listened thoughtfully to her concerns with it and tried several different lenses that were available to help rule out lens issues. Drove 25 miles to get a Passport photo printed but the arrogant employee didn't trust that I knew how to size the photo correctly. I'd prepared Passport photos numerous times. He then told me his printer associate wouldn't be in until after noon, several hours. I left, as much as I hate WalMart, they got my business this morning. read more
