Broth fondue from Melting Pot
Ryan K.

Now in all fairness I know I wasn't happy with the Melting Pot but this reservation was made prior to our visit. So we get to The Canadian Brewhouse and wait to be seated. They scan our QR code and ask us if we had a reservation. Wait isn't this prepaid ticket a reservation? Well apparently not. We had a table set aside but instead of a cozy booth for my fiancée and I it was a group table that they took place settings away from. So now we've been seated, it's clearly a success judging by the fact that more than half the tables in here have a fondue pot. So service was the Brewhouse servers mixed with one woman from The Melting Pot. So beer is on special like normal but my only complaint is that there is no selection of craft beer on tap...please please please can we rectify this? Anyways the fondue was to be expected, nothing to write home about but for a romantic dinner for two is was a great choice. The broth was weak unfortunately but the beef was seasoned spectacularly. Our dessert was a turtle chocolate fondue and I will say they did not cheap out on the chocolate. All in all our poor server was run off her feet but she did a great job. The meal in general is still nothing to go out of your way for but the service from The Canadian Brewhouse staff was spectacular like we have come to expect from this location.

The server was nice, attentive but not overly so. I ordered the Getta Porchetta Sandwich with a side of disappointment. The "porchetta" was more like a pulled pork texture than an actual porchetta and tasted ok, came with a fresh bun that had a cute little CBH stamped right into the bun before being baked. My side of disappointment was the soup of the day...pho. The broth was overly spicy, the tiny noodles under done and the meat overdone. The overpowering spice of the soup totally masked the flavour of the sandwich. Hubby had the meatza pizza. Not terrible, a bit on the salty side, but we had cold beer to sip, so that was good.

This is what a Guinness should look like, just not here though,,,,,

Went there for a Friday nite pimt and dinner. Too bad they cannot pour a proper Guinness. No worries, down the street can,,,,,,

The past experiences have all been fantastic and with a standard wait time for a large group. This evening was a completely different story. I am not sure the young woman's name, but I was with the group at the back of the restaurant. I got my ice tea with no ice in a timely manner; however another customer had to ask twice for his root beer, which in the end after an hour, I went up to the Bar and grabbed. As well, another customer had to ask twice for his beer that he ordered and when it didn't come out, he too had to go up to the bar to receive his beer. During this time, several other customers have arrived and been helped with drink orders and food orders being taken. My food order was taken shortly after 6pm, and at 720pm the waitress was told to come deal with our table as we were still waiting...... that was when we were informed, she hadn't put our orders in as the "page" was missed. I told her to cancel my order and that I wasn't paying for my drink at this point, and to bring the manager over. The manager was highly unprofessional and arrogant. I was pointing out that we had people order drinks twice and still not received them until we went up ourselves to get them. That is when the manager came back and said it's due to the fact that the large group was allowed here tonight, as the policy is to not allow large groups on Wing night. Which I find funny as I have been to three other event nights with this group on wing nights, one earlier this year. He then proceeded to laugh at myself when I said I was a server and was informed by him that he feels sorry for anyone who deals with my energy in person. Your server never once came to check on my table, we had to grab her each time. She was more focused on the larger tables around us, as they all were getting refills of their drinks, their food in a timely manner and their bills. I can understand large groups are harder on the staff, but when people who came in after yourself are getting drinks, and food..... when you ordered before them, and then you have to have someone else not from your table ask the waitress to do her job and take care of our table as others are noticing we are all just sitting there. That is horrible service and not only will I be sending this email, but I will be copying it and posting it on google and yelp, as well as Facebook. Not sure what happened, as like I stated before, the past times I have been there with this large group, everyone has been handled in a timely manner, but to have a full table forgotten and then the waitress to say she forgot to put the food orders in, as she "missed" the page but it took over an hour for her to even stop at the table plus she had to be asked to check on us by other customers, that's not right.

Yes, it is a sports bar, and likely a great place to chill and enjoy the game. I was impressed by how huge the menu is, especially by the build-your-own burger selection on the back page. I'm someone who is very fussy and hates having to pay for toppings that I have to hold, so just being able to order what I want in the first place is wonderful. However, that is not what I had - although my dining companion did, and enjoyed it immensely. I had the chicken fingers and fries, which is my go-to bar comfort food, and was impressed by the size and crunch of the fingers. The fries were hot and fresh and crispy. They are the coated variety. Prices were in line with other establishments - you'd be looking at about $20 per person on average - and, of course, there is an ample drink menu. I would definitely come here again, perhaps to watch some hockey while munching on something tasty.
