In summary, I would not recommend this establishment. During the Stanley Playoffs, I made two reservations. The first visit excellent; the server was attentive, and food was enjoyable. However, the second experience was disappointing to say the least. I received a text message claiming I had missed my reservation followed by an inappropriate "wtf?" remark. When I provided a screenshot confirming my actual reservation for a different night the texter responded with "ha ha, my bad, must not have gotten the memo." Upon arriving for my confirmed reservation, there was no table reserved for us. We were placed at leftover table in a corner, the service was subpar, the owner displayed unprofessional behavior when he incorrectly to my friend as Mexican. When she corrected him, stating she was Venezuelan, he unapologetically laughed and walked away. The only reason I am giving two stars is because of the positive first visit. read more

My hiking group has had a NYE event here since 2014 or 2015. We've always been happy with the service and food. No events were held in 2020 or 2021 due to the Covid pandemic. We decided to do it again for 2022. Three of us charted the route on Dec 29th and went into the pub after. The two pizzas and wrap we had were excellent. (I had a pizza at BP in October and this was hands down far superior) Something about a wood burning oven just warms a person. We had about 22 people into the pub after our NYE hike. Everyone ordered food and drinks. There were a couple of forgotten drinks but overall the service was good and the food was excellent as well. As others have mentioned this is a typical neighborhood "dive" bar. It has been around for a very long time, as I remember going to it first time back in mid 90s! First time back in over 10 years, as my friends lived close by and wanted to meet there. Nothing fancy but a good place to meet up with friends to shoot pool or drinks. Price for their drafts do seem a bit high at $7.50, as it is definitely not a true pint. No clue if they ever have any drink specials, didn't see any signs or mentioned by the waitress. My friends and I really enjoyed the pizzas. Cooked right from a wood fire oven. Only issue was again the price at $15.95 for a small plate. Service was awesome as our waitress constantly came to check on us and ask how things were. So overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but if in area and friends wanted to then won't complain. If prices were adjusted according to what you get, or they use actual pint glasses for the price then I'd bump it up a star. read more

Uncle Glenn's is one of those neighbourhood pubs that has been there forever, and makes one wonder how it has lasted so long. Located in a strip mall in the Rio Terrace area, this is a bar in every sense of the image: one large room, televisions tuned into sports, and a huge wall of spirits. There is also a popcorn machine and barrel of peanuts in the shell near the entrance. Beer and other drinks are reasonably priced, and the menu has typical bar food like wings and chicken fingers, and some not so typical stuff like bacon wrapped steak medallions and scallops. I decided to try one of Uncle Glenn's signature dishes: the wood-fire oven pizza. There are about a dozen different choices, all $12.95. Extra toppings are a buck extra and you can make your own pizza for $13.95. I settled on the Southwestern, with chicken, barbecue sauce, red peppers, and red onions. It was excellent. The sauce was strong but not overbearing, and there was a lot of chicken and mozzarella cheese. The crust was thin and reasonably firm. My two dining companions (one of whom suggested going here in the first place since we wanted a non-chain west end eatery) both had the calzone. Cheese, veggies, and pepperoni in a folded pizza shell came with a tossed salad. The calzones looked huge and seemed full, but nobody seemed particularly excited about them. Although the salad looked large and fresh, one person commented that the salad was awful and had bitter lettuce. I would definitely come here again for the pizza, if I was looking to go out with friends for some drinks in the west end. So we thought that we would give this place another try now that they're reopened. Three of us went and we had two highballs each, a plate of wings, and a pizza and the bill came out to $92. If you said each highball was six dollars each that would be $36. A plate of wings is $15. A pizza at best is $20. ( and trust me - this place isn't worth a $20 pizza and a $15 plate of miniature wings ) That is a total of $71 on the high side. Keep in mind the pizzas the size of a small dinner plate and would be considered a personal pizza at most restaurants. So where in the hell did the other $25 come from on the bill. Moral of the story if you want to be overcharged for ar best average food and basic drinks then you'll love this place. Otherwise - go somewhere that the owner isn't gouging his customers. read more

Just hung out there Thursday night, not overly busy nice atmosphere great friendly staff, the bathrooms aren't the nicest looking but they were clean. The food we had was pretty decent, the pool tables are okay and not busy. It's cool that you can watch the cook make your food as the kitchen is open to view overall really liked the vibe and the total feel wouldn't gave 5 stars if the facility(bathroom) was newer/in better shape read more

I think this place is 5 star worthy - but it does have a few downfalls. This is one of my favorite neighborhood pubs. We know the staff by name and they know us as we are regulars in this little joint. Uncle Glenns has 2 pool tables, a popcorn machine, and a barrel of peanuts - the best part is you can throw the shells on the floor! Also equip with a jukebox we make our own party with our choice of music. It's never too busy, and the drinks are reasonably priced. There is an older and younger crowd - as its a neighborhood pub... The food is okay. It used to be great but I think the portion size has gone down, and the prices went up. The have a wood stove that they cook everything in, and the menu is pretty big. Chicken fingers, fries, pizzas, and other bar foods. Drinks are strong, music is loud, and the pool tables are going. Always a fun night. read more

This review may be a bit biased. Since this dive is in my neighborhood. I go there fairly frequently. Usually pleasant staff, very personable. Very understanding and patient. Service is pretty righteous considering how busy the place gets too. The whole place has a small town feeling. If someones too drunk and alone, they staff take care of them. Generally a older crowd but it pulls a younger bunch too. They got pool, slots, a juke box and free popcorn. Just has the cozy dive bar feel... Food is tasty and pretty typical for the pub style. I wont lie, its not top notch cuisine but it fills the void. The pizza is good but the portions are small for the price. The beer- I don't know if they don't clean the taps enough or if its the way its supposed to be but theres hardly any carbonation. The beers good though. There idea of a pint and mine are different. Overall I would recommend a visit. Especially if you like dives! read more

Uncle Glenn's is a small neighbourhood pub and eatery with a great atmosphere. The staff is warm and inviting, and the food is of good quality. The oven fired pizza is definitely their bread and butter. The pub is accented with two pool tables and a well equipped bar. This is a great place for small groups to enjoy themselves in a safe and warm environment. Weekends are often busy with a good mix of older and younger crowds. The only drawback would be the lack of a dance floor, however impromptu aisle-way boogie is common. On the plus side there is an Internet jukebox, and free popcorn and peanuts. read more

I live in the neighbourhood and go to Glenns every week. The beers are reasonably priced, and the women working are always friendly. Most of them can make a kickass Caesar, which is a must for me. The pizzas are good and the nachos are always great. Wings are served in small sizes, though. The kitchen is visible from the bar so you can see your food get prepared, if you're the kind who's habitually suspicious of hygiene in independent pubs. The bar is usually very clean. The washrooms had been renovated recently, and the bartenders are vigilant in keeping the bar clean. My one complaint would be that the pile of crap they have at the front by the entrance is a bit of an eyesore. Otherwise, it's a fine pub I would have no problem recommending to anybody when they're in the mood for a pint. read more

Bit of a Dive! Bathrooms are yuck, food is not that great, the place is in dire need of a renovation. Pool tables are good when you can get them. Not very impressed that this place will open sometimes for major Canadian sporting events/playoffs but nope - not on Superbowl Sunday - for those of us who enjoy real football. read more

One of my favorite pubs in Edmonton. I used to go here quite often as my floor hockey team played at the JCC just down the road. Very good food, the service is always good and free popcorn and peanuts. I would recommend anyone to come here for a nice relaxed night out with friends to watch a hockey game or just hang out. read more
