I never thought I will get another dog, but being an animal lover, I decided to get a new puppy. My luck, Mío is a very hyper doggie, a Border Collie. I searched and took him to various trainers in the St Cloud area, but not sure they were prepared to handle this new life partner. Then I remembered Jim's training. Mío started going to puppy day care four hours a day, three times a week. Oh, boy. He is already showing signs of a well behaved dog, one that can go in public places and be able to control his impulses. Jim's love for animals shows all the way in the manner he respects them, the level of patience, and the advice he gives me so I can continue his training at home. I'm so grateful to have found Jim again. If you are serious about investing your live with a dog, Jim and his trainers are the way to go. We need more compassionate trainers like Jim and his staff. I was worried I'd be scolded about how infrequently winnie had been to the vet in the 3 years I'd had her, but the staff at Kindred Spirits were so kind and never batted an eye at me! I got set up on an affordable care plan for Winnie to be able to have her bloodwork and exams on a regular schedule every year, and Winnie had a dental cleaning and two extractions. The facility is clean, the staff is so kind to my baby kitty, and they went the extra mile to make sure I felt safe leaving her with them every step of the way. They even went as far as following up the morning after her dental cleaning to see how her night went after anesthesia - attention to detail on lock! So relieved to have found a great practice for my baby!

As experienced pup owners, we knew what qualities we wanted, and didn't want in a pet sitter. We struggled to find someone that we trusted with our "baby" and access to our home. One afternoon, we literally bumped into Katie on the corner near our house, and had a quick conversation! That led to scheduling a meet and greet at our home. Chip immediately fell in love with Katie and we loved how thorough she was with all her questions and follow-up questions! Hubby and I immediately scheduled a date night! When Katie & Chip had their scheduled walk & play time, we got the best video follow-up, with a text letting us know how the visit went. Katie even followed up with us the next day to see how Chip was!! Needless to say, we consider Katie & the Nona Paws crew a part of our family. Our dog is an Alaskan Malamute, a breed with a double coat that generally should not be completely shaved. We brought him in for a regular grooming appointment. It is true that he had a lot of hair and some tangles, which has happened before and was previously resolved with brushing and proper grooming. Our dog also gets nervous during grooming, so he was even medicated beforehand to make the process easier. A few hours after dropping him off, we received a call saying that his hair was very tangled and that the option would be to cut it shorter. We understood this to mean trimming it short, but it was never clearly explained that they were planning to completely shave him and remove his entire coat. If we had known that the result would be this drastic, we would not have approved it. When we picked him up, we found that he had been almost entirely shaved. This is especially concerning for a breed like a Malamute, since their coat plays an important role in protecting their skin and regulating body temperature. Since then, our dog has been extremely uncomfortable, very sensitive to the floor, and constantly licking his skin. We had to research on our own how to care for him now that he no longer has his natural protection, as we were not given clear aftercare instructions when we picked him up. Additionally, the grooming service cost around $500, which we find excessive considering the outcome and the lack of communication about what was actually going to be done. Another issue that had concerned us during previous visits was that, despite the high price of grooming for a dog with a thick coat, our dog was sometimes returned still damp, with the explanation that his coat was too thick to fully dry. However, that is exactly why a professional grooming service is being paid for. We understand that grooming a dog with a heavy coat can be challenging, but in this case it felt like there was a serious lack of clear communication with the owners before making such a drastic decision. We would have appreciated a proper explanation of the options and possible consequences. Unfortunately, this experience was very disappointing for us, and we do not plan to return.

The trainers and other dog owners tend to form a clique and talk down to other dogs on their FB page. How are they surprised that someone took their disobedient dog to Ed Reyes for training? Oh, and his wife only talks to you when she's taking payment for training that only lasted five minutes. I've had better help using YT. He also uses choke collars to "train" the dogs, which I was not going to let him do with mine.
