Definitely did this little joint! This place had a great variety of things to choose from. You can use cash at the food trucks/stores itself. If you don't have cash, you can just sit at the table and order with the QR code and they bring it to you. We tried so cheesy and the shawarma truck. Everything was good. I think we like the shawarma the best. We also tried Nami for their Japanese crispy sandos. The sandos did not use the traditional bread that is supposed to be used so the taste was not what I'm used to. The filling was also different. It was more of a cream cheese instead of a cream taste. I can't believe I didn't know about this place sooner... I love an indoor adult cafeteria type of vibe. It's actually really cute to sit there, and there's always so many people. That's the only potential "drawback" really, like if there's too many people you simply might struggle to find a seat. It can and does get completely full. At least you can still take your food to go! I love the set up of having food and drinks inside AND food trucks outside. What a treat. There's coffee, boba, ice cream, sushi, tacos, burgers, chicken and waffles?! And there's some little shops, at least one, which had jewelry when I went. Overall, if you are meeting with someone to chat, come here. If you're hungry, I assure you'll find something. It's good for a casual date or catch up with friends and family. This is a cool concept spot with multiple food trucks outside, a few food spots on the inside, and common seating areas both inside and outside. You can pay cash at the food trucks or you can use an app (scan a QR code) to order using your credit card. You can order through the app for any of the trucks or inside spots. This is a great way try a bunch of different places in one spot, or, have options for everyone in your family who can't agree on where to go for lunch or dinner. I'll review each of the places we tried below (TL;DR), but overall, food was excellent, delivery was quick (except for one truck...more on that below), atmosphere was good, vibe was relaxed and upbeat, very clean inside, and friendly/helpful staff and truck operators all around. Some prices were a bit high, but we didn't feel like it was extreme based on the quality of food and the ability to easily try different offerings without having to drive all over. The biggest knock was that even though we were greeted right away by a very friendly 'guide' when we walked in, his explanation of how the concept works was confusing and incomplete. We ended up having to speak to the folks running the trucks to better understand how to navigate the ordering process, cash vs credit card, and the ability to order everything from all the different trucks on one ticket, not separate tickets for each truck. Our other disappointment was that we went there for lunch (at 12:30p on the weekend) and the biggest indoor spot we wanted to try told us they weren't opening until 2pm so we'd have to come back later (maybe next time). Here's who we ended up trying: Big Red's BBQ Pit: Holy Smokin' Brisket Burnt Ends Batman! Big Red served up the absolute best burnt ends I've ever had from a food truck, and at the top of the list for all time best that I've had. Perfectly charred, crunchy bark while maintaining a juicy, tender, melt-in-your-mouth perfectly smoked inside. The rub and BBQ sauce were spot-on. Everyone in our family agreed that it was the best thing we tried all day. I guess I could have just said: 10/10 no notes. So Cheesy: Came highly recommended by some friends. A delicious sounding menu with some great options. The Steak Tacos were tender, flavorful, and filled to the max. The cilantro aioli and chipotle crema were flavor-bombs that really brought it all together. Fries were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The Phili-Mignon sandwich was very good, but not quite as good as I was hoping to get based on the description and price. It was on the small side, very bread-heavy, short on steak, and the beet horseradish mayo was lacking the 'kick' I was looking for. Again, perfectly cooked & seasoned fries on the side. This was the busiest truck we ordered from, so the wait time was much longer than all the rest, especially since there was only one guy working. However, while talking to the guy at the Parma truck (more below) after he finished our order, he ran over to So Cheesy to give him a hand in the truck and help push out food. IMHO, I thought this showed a great collaboration and willingness to put the customer first. Overall, a good experience with So Cheesy, but I'd skip the Phili-Mignon Sandwich and opt for a burger (heard others there saying how amazing they were) or their tacos on our next visit. Parma: My wife had the Arugula Insalata and couldn't stop raving about it. She loved the ingredients, flavor, freshness, and size. Possibly one of the best 'bang for your buck' items that we tried. I didn't catch his name, but the gentleman running the truck was super nice, brought my wife's salad inside to her while the rest of us were outside waiting on other food, and even ran over to help the guy in the So Cheesy truck push out orders! Amo Samis Sammies: We tried the Breadless Chicken Shawarma Bowl. It was delicious and piled a mile high with tasty, marinated, tender chicken. The dressing was light and tangy, and the Lebanese pickles were incredible. I initially thought the price was a bit high for a 'bowl', but after seeing how much chicken was stacked on top, it made sense. read more

We've been wanting to visit for a while, I've been twice in the last few weeks. Cool concept, nice clean dining area inside, seating outside when it's nice. There are several eateries inside and a bunch of food trucks outside. The staff on our first visit was great, one guy came up to us and greeted us, then explained how ordering worked. So simple, you sit down, scan the QR code which takes you to all of the vendors menus, you order and pay online, and they bring the food to you. As we waited, I noticed how the staff working was delivering food, and clearing and cleaning tables very quickly. A manager named Ali, came up and talked to us for a few minutes. He asked if it was our first time and also explained how things work at the Canteen. Very personable guy and he had a hard working staff. The place was clean and really bright inside(probably too bright). I really like this spot! I've tried items from a few of the food trucks and everything has been delicious and fresh. I was most skeptical of the sushi spot, but that even blew me away! This was such a cool spot to try a variety of great food! It is laid out like a food hall and once you sit at a table you scan the QR code on the table to order food from as many vendors as you like. You pay through the app well. Super convenient! There was no one at the door when walking in so it was a little confusing on what to do and where to go at first. We also could not find a station for any silverware which would have been nice. I ate from Nami Sushi and got some seasoned corn called Tomorokoshi and a crab filled Omusubi. The corn was a bit tough to eat as I accidentally kept eating the rind overall 4/5 I had the best chai tea i have ever tasted from Qahwah House. I am still dreaming about it haha. 5/5. From the Terry Melt we got the Chicken Parm Melt with fries and a side of dill pickle ranch. The chicken was a bit dry and I wish there was more flavor so I would give that a 3/5. So Cheesy: Old Bay fish and chips, truffle burger; Terry Melt: Rueben melt, chicken melt with Cajun fries; The Munch Box: chicken Caesar salad and some drinks. Ended with a fiery mango boba from Z's with tapioca and mango bubbles and a Turkish coffee from Qahwah house. Caesar salad was as expected. The truffle burger and the fish and chips were good. My brother invited me to have dinner at the Canteen in Dearborn. I've heard about this place, but never had a chance to experience it for myself. The concept here is there is one large building with a decent amount of restaurant vendors/food trucks on the property. You can sit down and order your food with the QR code from any of the menus being offered and that business will bring the food to you. My brother and I shared a combination of chicken shawarma from Sami's, BBQ from Big Red's, and an ice cream donut sandwich from Custord Co. I won't go into the details of every single thing we ate because quite frankly what we had was delicious all around. Meals from these food courts are generally on the pricier side, but I felt as though what we ate and the portions we got were more than fair. I just love the quality and variety of what is being offered here. I remember this space used to be Big Fish back in the day, and I'm happy they found a worthy replacement for it. They charged $15.99 for a waffle sandwich, which was half a flattened, soggy Belgian waffle, sandwiched around one single chicken tender soaked in grease and syrup. No side included. If you order Fri a table there is staff that will bring it to you which is nice. Hand full of good options. All the food we had tasted good. The crab Rangoon egg roll were awesome. So I went to the canteen today, the wait was a little long sucks that someone in your group gets their food first and by the time they are done eating the other order comes out. I personally got the steak melt which let me say was amazing super good super fresh overall 10/10 I also got the corn I wish I could say great things about it but honestly was so bad I took one bite and threw it away, I never thought corn on the cob could be soft and soggy, my friend got a sushi burrito he said it was dry so we went and got extra sauce and he was it was really good at that point, overall food is a 8.5/10 and place in general is a 7/10! I absolutely love food halls, so I'm super happy that another one opened near the Detroit area. The actual building is really nice and has plenty of seating indoors and there's a huge outdoor space as well with nice lighting. There are both food trucks outside, as well as indoor restaurants. They have everything ranging from sushi, shawarmas, burgers, pastas, coffee, dessert, etc. The Nami sushi was good, and the crab rangoon egg rolls are incredible. We tried two of the restaurants while we were here. We did not try all eight. But I tried the ( terry melt ) I had the steak melt and it was 10 out of 10. It taste like a beef stroganoff sandwich Texas toast the french fries were absolutely amazing. I went to this establishment on yesterday to end celebrating my Cousin's birthday and left very disappointe! The young man working at the Chicken Coop called my cousin a THIEF and said she stole her friends food, the same food he GAVE her! He was rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. The employees are your first contact and they need to know how to conduct themselves in a way that makes customers want to return and tell their friends about their experience...this was not that! Now, the manager was very apologetic to my cousin and our group, but this experience has made me think twice about taking my family there. I take a group of senior citizens out for work once a month for our lunch club. I usually like to take them somewhere new, buzzworthy, or somewhere they wouldn't go on their own and from yelp reviews I chose this for February. I missed the part where you had to order from the barcode on the table and found out when we arrived. I was concerned because most seniors don't like technology and don't know how to do that. Thankfully there was a server there who was amazing and helped me help all of them order. By time we were done they were so happy they learned something new, the food was amazing and the service was awesome! Very helpful. I had the steak melt from the Terry Melt truck for something different. It was really good I was kind of surprised seeing all we went through to order. Everyone's food came out as close together as they could get it and there wasn't one person who didn't enjoy their lunch and the experience.
