We ordered crab cakes and I hate crab cakes, but I had to make an exception for the birthday guest. They were delicious. Ribeye- Excellent-comes with garlic and zip sauce in the sides. Chilean Sea Bass- Delicious, Fresh, Not fishy tasting at all. Comes with mashed potatoes & spinach. Drinks - Blood orange martini- Very good I wanted some Baileys Irish Cream to go with my coffee but unfortunately they were out. Brown Butter cake for dessert- Very good- like a cross between a pound cake and a sugar cookie. We were sat upstairs which was a more relaxed atmosphere. The truffle mac and cheese is a must try here. The smell of the dish is very potent as soon as it came out on the table. Cheesy and so much flavor. The beef tenderloin tips didn't have any flavor. Mint 29 is a nice upscale restaurant that can get pretty busy, so I would recommend reservations. They have street parking or lots behind the restaurant. I came with my family for my 29th birthday and enjoyed everything, they had good portion sizes, so I thought the value was definitely there. I ordered the soup of the day to start, as I was a bit under the weather, and it definitely hit the spot. For other starters, we got the assorted bread and dips, brussel sprouts, and burrata, where I think the burrata was my winner. I got the KBBQ salmon as my entree, which I thought had great flavor. Mint 29 was great. It was well lit and deforested nicely. The appetizers were amazing! The burrata, shrimp and tenderloins tips is what we got. The burrata took the apps for me as it was all so fresh with the tomatoes and bread. I also liked the blackberry mojito! The lamb chops were good nicely. I'm finicky about my steak - charred rare, Pittsburgh style, black & blue, however you wanna describe it. Some steak spot servers have never even heard any of the terms but our server got it immediately & mine came out perfectly! Salads & sides were delish, my wife's salmon was wonderful. Ambience is way cool & Michigan Ave has tons of pedestrian & motorized traffic. Mixed crown from young to old & very diverse! My only "complaint" is that my rocks pour of Makers Mark was quite light - so much so that I had to ask for an additional shot to even taste the bourbon, which made for a very pricey cocktail.. Went to Mint 29 with my son after a longggg tiring week, and Mint 29 did NOT disappoint!! The ambience is GREAT, good mix of people, with GREAT food and great conversation!! We sat at the bar which made it easy to get served quickly, We were immediately greeted by the bar tender Nina, whom was very personable, made GREAT suggestions, made GREAT drinks and kept us looked after! We had a constant flow of water then had drinks. We both had Sangria (really good) also had the Cucumber Mango Margarita ( very good) my son had a very smoky bourbon (very tasty) n I don't like bourbon!! We just stayed in the area overnight as we were continuing on to the upper peninsula. The at the hotel recommended this place. Wow, what recommendation! The food was amazing. We had the soup of the day, which was an exotic mushroom soup. I have to say i've had somebody good soup in my time, but it's hands-down the best soup I've ever had. We had the chicken in the beef tips as our main entrée. That was also amazing. The service was really good at the beginning although once they started getting really busy, it took go out to get our waiters attention. But overall, we have no complaints. This family owned and operated steak house is very high end and located in a beautiful old building. Our group enjoyed Nwe York Strip, lamb chops, sea bass, and more. Super delicious. Flavor was "ok", but this bone-in rib eye was one of the toughest pieces of leather I'd ever been served - just horrible. 75% gristle and despite asking for it medium rare, they destroyed the spinalis. Service was "OK". Took us flagging down the inattentive first server for another cocktail. The second server that took over was slightly better. My kid got the mac and cheese - she said it was super oily and she didn't eat the majority of it. Ambience was nice - it's located in the building where Dearborn Music was in the 70's and 1980's (and most of the 90's). Strongly encourage to avoid ordering their steak at all costs if you do decide to go here. There are far better places for less money. read more

I went to Mint 29 and sat at the bar. Ordered the lobster and the filet. No bread, no salad, everything is a la carte. Food arrived and my lobster was about 4oz, and it was good. The filet was burnt on both sides. The ribeye was burnt and charred on both sides. The ribeye tasted like it was in a house fire. The nice server was notified and she told me that they would re-do it again and apologized. The ribeye came out a second time and it was burnt even thicker and more charred than the first time. What the? Who does? The cook or chef definitely was vindictive and made my ribeye even worst. Don't understand how an eatery could allow this to happen. The manager was very nice and comped my meal. I just can't allow an eatery to get away with a chef or a cook that is vindictive and lacks professionalism. I thought real hard about writing this review. The chicken citron dish was flavorful. I'm rating this restaurant a four star, because the chicken wasn't moist. I kept asking for that delicious gravy that was on my plate. That helped a lot. The carrots, broccolini, and roasted potatoes were yummy. One of the other ladies had the lamb chop dinner which she said was good. Our server was very polite and professional. He was patient (it was about 15 ladies). When it was time to check out (gratuity is already included) one of the ladies was going to add an extra tip (she had a charge card), but the server graciously declined and told her that the tip has already been included and thanked her anyway. I've only been here once, and it remains as one of the top places I tell people on where not to go. For a "high end" restaurant they seriously lack in manners and hospitality. From the moment we sat down the wait staff was rude and impatient. We came for a birthday, and right when we sat down we were told that we had a 90 minute limit on the table - of which they reminded us not once, not twice, but three times. We ordered drinks and apps, which took time to come out. Then it took about a half an hour in between apps and our entree for our food to come out. I ended up switching seats with my partner during that time since he was sharing his entree with someone else. The waitress expressed that my changing of my seat was an inconvenience and sat at the table switching orders around on her device while the group sat quietly in awkward silence. The food was average. We were going to order birthday dessert but unfortunately our 90 minutes was up by then. For the prices it's not worth it. read more
