He also verified that the board works because he explained that sellers don't clear the board entirely when buying a fob online. I appreciate his honesty because he didn't try to upsell me anything. Made an appointment. 2hours later 30 minutes before scheduled appointment time, I called technician to let him know we were home early and he could come earlier if he wanted... at this point the technician let me know that they don't have the key. My current car was purchased used from a used car dealership 9 years ago. When I took delivery of the car, I was dismayed when I was told by the salesman that the car came with only one key with no spare key. Since the car key for my car has a chip and needs programming in order to open and lock the car using the remote buttons, I was shocked when I discovered how much it would cost to have a duplicate one made at the dealership! Fast-forward to last weekend, I discovered this place using an online search for locksmiths near me. The first result was The Car Key Shop in Bellflower, so I went there to have duplicate keys made for my car and for another one I have but drive only occasionally. When I arrived, I told the nice man behind the counter I needed a spare key made for my other vehicle, which is an older car with a key that just needs duplicating without programming. Once that one was done, I told him I needed a duplicate key made for my current car, which has a chip and needs to be programmed. According to the chart posted on the wall, it would cost $185.00 as opposed to getting it done at the dealership, which would have been $350.00--BIG difference. He told me that key would take 20 minutes to make, including programming. It turned out he was done in about 10 minutes. I was very impressed. He told me the key works at locking and unlocking the car using the remote control buttons.
