As soon as we walked in we encountered guests- a women with…read more3 other young ladies giving the hostess a hard time for seating arrangements on the patio. They had one guest with a child requiring a high chair. The high chair would have been in the way the aisle causing safety issues for staff and customers. They were then asked to move inside and seated beside us. The group was a gaggle of ladies, loud, obnoxious and rude. The oldest lady proceeded to berate the staff for saying the set up inside created the same situation and what was the difference. The high chair was next to an empty table out of the way of foot traffic. The table kept insisting what the difference was for the set up inside versus their preference for seating on the patio. My fiance then got up to the staff counter and explained we have witnessed the insulting be behaviour of the table and that the staff operated appropriately. As a result, we did not want to be seated next to the group and wished to be moved elsewhere if possible. The restaurant was busy and the staff tried to accommodate. Shortly after, the young female manager came out to the the disruptive table and calmly stated the restaurant would not tolerate their behave and asked them to leave. The table was incensed and continued to be loud and disruptive until their departure. My fiancé and I were so pleased and proud the staff stood their ground to not tolerate that rude and entitled behaviour. I was rather embarrassed for the table particularly given the age of the woman doing most of the yelling. The next table over of young people also came over to us and voiced their displeasure with the table between us, citing he too he is in the service industry and the staff did not deserve to be treated like that. This is our review of the integrity, customer service and hard work that takes place at Sunny Morning, on the Queensway. Happy to support the staff and enjoy their food with a pleasant, friendly atmosphere and good food brunch! Well done to the store manager on shift, Aneesa our server and a couple other ladies who were subject to this poor display of civility yet they maintained their professionalism and cool highly recommend this place for great eats, fast efficient and friendly service.

Service was fast, coffee was hot and neverending, and portion was on the edge of ridiculous. This dish would be accentuated with some fresh tomatoes just to bring some brightness or maybe a side of sour cream and a sprinkle of scallions. Flavour was decent and cook on the eggs were perfect.

We came for a brunch on a Friday morning, when we were both working from home with no meetings in the morning - and it was still fairly busy; though no wait for tables. The decor accentuates the age of the building and fits well with the wider neighbourhood. There is a substantial bar, but we didn't have any cocktails. The menu is pretty short, but all the regular brunch menu options are available - just not in multiple configurations. The highlight is the rosti - not often found in Toronto menus, but it was a bit too oily. The breakfast burrito was amazing; but the Benedict was fairly ordinary. I don't think it's worth the wait - but would come back here on a less busy day.

The Federal is a casual chill spot for all things brunch. They do get busy on the weekends so best to come on a weekday if you're able to. The menu has plenty of brunch options for everyone. I stopped by The Federal on a Monday around 10am. The place was pretty empty although there were a few customers. Ordered an Americano and the scrambled eggs with sausage. My beverage and food came at a reasonable time. Food wise, loved everything on the plate! The scrambled eggs were cheesy, the salad was refreshing with the pickled onions, the sausage tasted great with their house made ketchup and hot sauce, the toast was toasted perfectly, and the potato rosti was the perfect potato side to this breakfast plate. Service was friendly and staff were chill and attentive. Overall, great breakfast and brunch spot along Dundas St. W!
