Sweet spot for some decent fish and chips. Their specials on Sundays and Mondays are very reasonable priced, great quantity, and decently priced. Definitely going to keep in mind for future times!

The restaurant is very clean the waitress was so friendly. So when we came we ordered halibut Filet with fries n coleslaw n shrimp with coleslaw. The food didn't took so long and when it was served you could see everything was from scratch. The shrimp was delicious the portion size was huge. The sauces both Tatar sauce and the red one for the shrimp were extremely tasty. Same with the halibut fish. The fries were delicious. The only less star I give is because of the oil the batter was soaked with oil. I think if you would change that it would be much more better. The restaurant is big and family friendly. I would definitely go again if I'm craving fish and chips.

First day opened and they have a buy one get one special (January 10th only). The halibut batter is divine. Light and crispy. Not the dark soggy fried batter a lot of establishments offer nowadays. The fish is full and hearty so it's a fantastic portion. The fries are also light and crispy which is nice surprise. The coleslaw is refreshing and perfectly seasoned. The staff is extremely friendly (it is their first day here) and the restaurant is clean, bright (windows are all around) a great ambiance and use of space. There is also a parking lot (shared with the Pizza Pizza) so you will have free parking. I can't wait to come back!

    Shrimp

The fish isn't fresh, it's very compact, a bit rubbery and not flaky like it's supposed to be. I'm fairly certain everything comes from the freezer. The shrimp is advertised as grilled shrimp, but it seems like it's never seen a grill - no sear on them at all and also a bit rubbery. In a fish & chips place, you should be able to just get a good piece of battered and fried fish and some good fries - neither was to be found there. The fries are embarrassingly prepared for a restaurant with chips literally in the name. Undercooked, under seasoned and limp. For $100+ meal I'm not impressed and not going back.

Halibut House at Wootten Way, and Hwy 7 has rotten service owners; no etiquette at all for customers or employees.

Personally I think it's a bit overpriced for mediocre food. I'd rather spend my $15 somewhere else!

But it finally did open, so we were excited to check them out on a recent Saturday. The place is very spacious and clean-looking inside, and we snagged a nice table right by a window. Given that the place is called Stacks, I decided to grab a short stack of the Classic Pancakes ("Made the old fashioned way with real buttermilk, our fluffy classic pancakes are a breakfast staple. Topped with powdered sugar and butter on the side.") They showed up a little while later and they sure looked picture perfect. And, as it turned out, they tasted just as good as they looked. These are exactly what you want out of traditional pancakes, as they're just so light and fluffy and completely addictive. We also tried the Scrambler Wrap ("Scrambled eggs, cheddar & sausage on a white or whole wheat tortilla with 2 potato pancakes"), which is quite possibly one of the largest breakfast wraps I've ever eaten. But it's very good, with its plentiful scrambled eggs and loads of Vienna sausages (or something very similar to a Vienna sausage). The potato pancakes were the one weak spot of the meal, as they had a weird gummy texture that just wasn't too appealing. The service was great, too. All in all, Stacks is a very cool little breakfast joint that makes a very nice addition to this stretch of Dundas.

I was immediately impressed when I walked inside, as the place has plenty of cool decor and boasts a dimly-lit feel that I find irresistible. As I scanned the menu, I was eventually drawn to the Bramble Burger ("House ground, Cheddar, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle, Bramble berry relish"), which comes with fries. And I feel like I made the right choice because it's one tasty hamburger. I wouldn't rank it with the best in the city, but all the components were right on target and I enjoyed the heck out of it. The fries were great, too. I don't know why it took us so long to check out Bramble Gastropub, but I think it's safe to say we'll be returning sometime very soon.

The fish and chips were overdone, I have never had fish a much deeper dark brown than the fries, which were golden. The fries were way-oversized potato wedges, which don't work well as fries. The tartar sauce and pickled cabbage were delicious along with the mushy peas. My girlfriend had the Cobb salad with chicken which was passable but not special. The service was prompt and drinks were perfect.

There are also nightly and weekend happy hours, but we came here after work. - The white sangria is awesome! My former manager reached out to me about a few work-related questions. It was nice hearing from him. It's my usual self to ask if he'd like to go out for a meal. He was game with either the two of us, or past and current writers. I went with the latter, as it would be nice to have a happier meetup than what we did in November when he was let go. I hadn't been to Earls in a long time. I was a fan of this western Canadian chain when I lived in Winnipeg. Back then. it wasn't as upscale as it seems to be these days. The food was yummy and I liked dropping by. I asked him if he was good with this Earls across from CF Sherway Gardens. He was. There were a total of four folks who said yes. Another colleague said that he'd drop by to say hi. I didn't account for him in the reservation, as he'd be there briefly. I reserved online through OpenTable. It was party of four for 4:30 pm. It was great getting the occasional text message to confirm that we were still good to be here on a Wednesday at 4:30 pm. I was the first to make it here. I had no problem finding a parking spot and backed into an available one. I walked into the eatery. I was greeted by a friendly woman. I said that I had a reservation for four under my name. She found me and led me me to a booth. I looked at the happy hour menu. Red and white sangria were available. I went with the latter. It had peaches and oranges in it. It was delightful. We got water with ice. I waited for my friends and colleagues to arrive. Two of my friends had arrived, followed by the hi-and-bye friend. Two of them looked at my white sangria and order the same thing. Our other friend got a Moscow mule. My former manager texted me. He said that he was stuck in traffic on the 401 and he'd be late. I said that we'd be here. He eventually made it. Yay! He saw that most of us had sangria. He ordered the red sangria. Alcohol does hit him fast. Luckily, we were here for a few hours, so it eventually wore off. Even our server asked if he was okay, which was kind. Service was great. Our female server was attentive, making sure that our water was refilled and we were good. The manager came over and was looking for me. He said that to thank me for my "loyalty," he wanted to give us a complimentary Nashville crispy chicken and pickle skewers. I said that I wouldn't say no to free food! This appetizer was excellent. The pickle was a bit spicy. The crispy chicken was tender and not spicy. It was such a nice gesture. Our table got these items: - Baja taco (me) - Szechuan shrimp and pork dumplings (me) - Aburi salmon sushi press - Clam chowder - Bigger better burger with fries - Truffle tortellini I loved my baja taco. The fish was generous and flaky. It had a light, crispy batter. It was delicious. The szechwan shrimp and pork dumplings were excellent. The chili sauce had a ton of flavour. My former manager's aburi salmon sushi press needed more flavour. This place doesn't have wasabi. Instead, I said to dip his sushi in the szechwan sauce. He did and said it was much improved. I got to try a bit of his sushi and I also dipped it in the sauce. Yummy! My friends loved their meals. Everything was off the happy hour menu, except for the truffle tortellini that looked amazing. For dessert, we got these items: - Lemon meringue pie - Sticky toffee chocolate pudding with vanilla ice cream Our friend had left, so we were a table of four. We devoured both desserts in five minutes. It was quite the feat to witness! The lemon meringue pie is seasonal. It should be on the menu all the time. It was fantastic. The lemon had the perfect tartness. The meringue was light and perfect. The sticky toffee chocolate pudding was moist and decadent. We loved the vanilla ice cream and the crispy wafer. Since I'm the fruit person, I had all the sliced strawberries. So good! We got separate bills. I paid with a credit card at the table. I tipped and tapped. Done! A few of us used the washroom before we left. The women's was clean and inviting. No complaints! My former manager was waiting outside. He noticed that my car was still there. It felt like old times chatting for a bit before heading our separate ways. The food and drink were excellent at this eatery. The company was perfect. Service was wonderful. I'd return here for more good eats and drinks. (147)

The kale and mushroom pizza that I had just a few months ago, has changed. Now, it's overcome by a thick layer of cheese, while the scant sprinkle of mushrooms and kale had zero flavour, and the usually amazing crust was dry and too hard to eat. The Nashville chicken sandwich was ho-hum at best. Over-fried, not much flavour and no sign of the promised Nashville spice. Sad to see the tofu tacos have left the menu, and hoping Earls can get back to consistently good food. Tip: Order the crispy tofu appetizer as your main. Best plant-based item on the menu. Our whole group (omnivores and herbivores) devoured these!
