Go now! Too good! They had two vegan options, chocolate peanut butter and vanilla, both fantastic! Parking on side of road and there's an indoor little shop to buy cakes and tubs! They also have outdoor seating. Soooo worth the drive! Excellent service. No seating inside.

Loaded butter tart tub

We scooped up a tub of the loaded butter tart ice cream at the Cheshire Cat Pub's shop. It was bigger than a pint, but was it a litre? I don't know.. not enough because it was so delicious, but enough if I was on a diet (I am not LOL)! It was the only tub of this flavour left and when she rang us up, our server at the pub said it was her favourite. We can totally see why! We had company this past weekend and it was a huge hit. Loaded, it was! They did not skimp on the fillings. I saw online that they use a sweet cream base with butter tart pieces, pecans, raisins, and butterscotch. I don't remember getting any raisins, but there were plenty of butter tart pieces and pecans, one of my favourites. I believe you can order online and schedule a pick up time, but I'd like to visit in person for a scoop or six this summer.

Today's flavours.

I stopped by The Custom Carp Creamery after having dinner at Alice's Village Cafe 2 doors down for some ice cream and overall it was good. They have different flavours everyday which are listed on their board. I originally wanted to get the Peaches and Cream, but was told they just ran out :( I got a single scoop of their Double Vanilla Coconut instead ($3.75). My husband got a single scoop of their Andes Chocolate Mint, and my father-in-law got a single scoop of their Double Chocolate Brownie. My Double Vanilla Coconut was a bit too coconutty for my liking, lol. It was vanilla ice cream with lots of toasted coconut in it. I thought it would be coconut flavoured ice cream, and not have actual coconut pieces in it. My fault for not asking. The ice cream itself was rich and creamy. I think I would have enjoyed my original choice of Peaches and Cream better, especially if that flavour had real chunks of peaches in it. I had a taste of my husband's Andes Chocolate Mint and it was delicious. It was chocolate ice cream with crushed up pieces of Andes Chocolate Mints mixed in. My husband loved his ice cream. My father-in-law enjoyed his ice cream as well. They are open year round! During the summer they have 8 picnic tables out front where you can sit. Some tables even have umbrellas if you want to be in the shade. Since there is no indoor seating, I imagine that during the winter their sales are mostly tubs to take home and ice cream cakes. You order at one window and pay there and then pick up at another window. The ordering and pick up windows are up some stairs. No parking lot, so street parking only. Hopefully, they'll have my first choice of flavour next time!

Sticky Toffee Pudding

On our way back home from the Carp Farmer's Market, we decided to pop into Carp Creamery to get some ice cream since we heard so much about them. They had plenty of flavours to pick from, with some really fun, different options! We tried Sticky Toffee Pudding, Sprinkle Cake, Strawberry M&M and Salted Caramel Brownie. All of these flavours were great and we chose to get them on waffle cones. It's about $8 per cone with two scoops, but totally worth it! This place is definitely worth a visit when in Carp and I feel like it's going to be a new summer family tradition of stopping in whenever we go out to the farmer's market. Also worth mentioning is that they have a nice front lawn area with picnic tables to be able to sit and enjoy your ice cream.

Butter Rum Pecan & Monkey's Lunch

I'm lactose sensitive and this creamery's formula was great for me! I tried a 1L tub of their Butter Rum Pecan & Monkey's Lunch. I liked that both these flavours weren't overtly sweet or heavy! Butter Rum Pecan (4/5) - overall was very tasty and light. I do wish their rum flavour was stronger/had greater depth and I would've liked more pecan pieces! Monkey's Lunch (5/5) - ABSOLUTELY LOVED. The banana flavour was not overpowering and had a touch of caramel with the crunchy peanut chunks.

Dipped cone!

I tried the dipped cone here, on a weekend afternoon; it was packed, which was a good sign! This ice cream place is right beside a dentist office, which is hilarious, and pretty ironic. The dark chocolate dip itself was very good and satisfying. It was rich, and not too sweet. I tried the split soft serve, which I was really unimpressed with; it was watery and not rich, thick, and creamy as the soft serve at DQ or Chocolat Favoris (my favourite dipped cone)! However, this is probably due to it being more "natural" and fresh, as it's made from local milk; so no stabilizers or preservatives which would make it more creamy. However, I will stick with their ice cream tubs, as you can take them home, and their ice cream is really rich and creamy, and you can taste that it's fresh!

Ended up getting the pistachio and Dubai chocolate croissant. As for the drinks, we got the matcha and the Hojicha with espresso shots. They serve coffee from Hatch (which is probably one of my favourite back in Toronto). Unfortunately, we didn't get to try the croissants fresh but they were still tasted buttery and flakey. The flavour and sweetness was the right amount (perfect for my Asian tastebuds). The drinks were also really good! It was pretty busy inside but there's plenty of seating (might not be great if you want to chill and study but great for hanging out with friends). Service was good, staff is friendly and our order was made fairly quickly. I would come back and try other things on their menu if I'm ever around the area.

Plus, their croissants are big in size and are great for sharing. Their place is beautifully decorated with lots of seating. The workers were kind and friendly. We ordered the Croissant au Pistachio Rose and the Dubai Chocolate Croissant. Both had the perfect amount of flakiness and softness. The Dubai Chocolate was decadent while the Pistachio Rose was nutty with a delicate taste of floral.

TLDR: Delicious pastries at this Italian Bakery and Gelateria. Much more expensive than at other…read moreshops though (was $7.49 for a Sfogliatella). I was in the mood for a Sfogliatella (lobster tail pastry), so my husband and I went to Little Italy to get one. Pasticceria Gelateria Italiana has been around since 1979, but I had never been there before. They had a large selection of desserts and gelato. We took our pastry to-go, but they have some seating both indoors and on their raised front patio and street-level side patio. The Sfogliatella was $7.49 which is the most I've ever paid for this pastry. Fortunately, it was delicious. Very crispy and flakey on the outside and softer on the inside with a generous amount of cream. I prefer the ricotta cheese filling slightly more, but I like the cream filling too. It was light and airy and not too sweet. Service was efficient and pleasant. The shop has a one way flow, you enter one door and you follow the arrows and exit a different door. The area to wait for service is narrow, so this process prevents congestion and crowding. I like it. Great for the occasional treat, but a bit too spendy for me. (77)
