Restaurant by day, nightclub by... well... night. I guess that makes sense since night is in the name. Its not called a darn dayclub. That would be weird. Now I should mention that this is my first real exposure to a nightclub that wasn't in a TV show or movie.
I came here with a mate for his 30th birthday celebrations. I don't understand clubs and probably never will. Still, I will attempt to pull some sanity from the madness that I experienced.
The beer was warm. I know that in a club it must be more common place to have shots or cocktails and mocktails and dog... tails. However, if you are serving draft beer, unless under certain circumstances, it needs to be served cold.
The music was so gosh darn loud that I had to yell in order to have a chat with someone. Most perplexing. How are you suppose to have a civil conversation or order warm beer in such an environment?
The lighting was quite low despite blue dance lights hanging above that swiveled and spun above like droids going haywire. It had a dizzying effect on my person and it almost made me drop my library book.
Seating was around the outside of the room while the bar was in the middle. This made it easy to get drinks I suppose. What is most unusual was that the main room is decked out in golden construction scaffolding. Did the contractors quit early and the owner said "Its okay, just get some gold spray paint." If so, then that's making the best out of a bad situation and if I were the owner I'd report the company that the contractors worked for to the ombudsman.
Other patrons looked like they were enjoying themselves. Above the music, somehow, you'd hear cheers from the crowd when a woman got a bit too lively and started using one of the golden scaffolding poles to do a particular type of dance. Security would approach such people promptly, doing their best to make sure no one got hurt. Good on 'em.
One of our party members had their jacket stole from our reserved room, and after talking to the club's security they said that it was "unclear what happened" from the CCTV footage. Another shocking thing I was told, to buy a bottle of Vodka and to have it poured for us would cost *drum roll* $860!
Would I try a nightclub again, most likely not. It is a strange world that people like me just won't make heads nor tails of. You pay to enter, pay even more for drinks, every time you want to move you must squeeze past clumps of dancers, and I'm surprised that I didn't have to pay to leave. read more
