I too purchased a Dealfind coupon in 2010 for a mani/pedi/facial, I finally redeemed it last weekend. Wow - what a disappointment! I noticed that a few reviews down an employee there stated that someone's negative experience was not the norm...I beg to differ! I arrived there in time for my appointment and was provided a form to fill out before I was taken downstairs to have my treatments. I found it weird that the form did not ask me anything about my skin type, issues or the like - it was simply an address/contact form. Anyway... While there, I thought my manicure and pedicure were mediocre at best. It was only when I left that I realized what a terrible job was done to my nails. My fingers did not have polish on the entire nail - the sides were left bare. After my pedicure, while I was waiting to have my facial, there was so much moisturizer on my feet that the toe spacer slipped off taking a bunch of nail polish with it. The employee got mad at me for it - made some comment about how I shouldn't have moved, when I hadn't, I tried to explain to her what happened, but she didn't want to hear it. The entire time I was having my nails done, the aesthetician told me about how I could defraud my insurance company and how lots of times retailers will lie for you about what you get - designer sunglasses instead of prescription. Nice! No wonder my health insurance costs are so high. I was brought into another room to have my "personalized" facial. First off, she told me that some people like to talk thru that treatment, but that I should probably just stay quiet...trust me, after the insurance conversation I had no words. There was nothing personalized about that facial - noted by the pimples that started cropping up all over my face a few days later. She didn't even ask what type of skin I had, or if I had any issues. My skin is oily and can't take the heavy moisturizers, which she would have known if she'd bothered to ask. All in all, this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a spa - and I've had a few. I would never recommend this place to anyone. If you haven't cashed in your dealfind yet, don't bother - you'll be better off for it...unless of course you want tips on how to rip off Blue Cross. read more

It was self-pampering I could justify. Cas Spa tipped me into indulgence with its recent summer sale, because at fifty dollars for a one hour massage, how could I not. The price had me a bit unsure on Cas' level of prestige, as I've never heard of spas offering such deals. Walking in and getting started, I admit there were a few bumpy transitions with customer service and getting me to my room, and the decor could've been a bit more luxurious as well. Although this was nothing to directly turn me off, and I had a great massage to relax and rejuvenate. Besides a variety of massage work, Cas also does hair, skin care, Botox, Dermal Fillers and facial resculpting, and all the standard aesthetic servings. As well, I noticed they carry some interesting lines of product, including one called Sparitual-- a vegan luxury line enhanced with calming or stimulating natural herbal aromas to bring out chakras and calm the spirit. I probably would pick another local spa ahead of Cas if it weren't for the deal. It was a fine experience, but I've experienced places of more atmospheric grandeur, and prefer all richness when Im going in for a bodily indulgence. That being said-- this was a great deal, and the massage left me feeling refreshed. Its a good spot to keep an eye on for specials, as they seem to carry a few. read more

Back in February, I headed to Cas Spa last minute for a little birthday treat. I phoned ahead and was told I could be accommodated within half an hour which was a nice surprise since most spas don't tend to have much availability last minute on a Saturday. When I arrived I could see the reason for all the availability- this spot is just starting to get up and running. Decor left quite a bit to be desired. This place has the interior you'd expect from a little whole in the wall manicure/pedicure spot with $30 specials. Instead my manicure and pedicure came to $90 and I was not entirely impressed with the outcome. My aesthetician was very professional and did quite a good job (longer massage and less stringent lighting would have been nice)... aside from the fact that she did my feet first and my hands last. This resulted in my being ushered out with wet nail polish to sit in the waiting room while being expected to fill out forms, grab my wallet and pay. Needless to say my nails were chipped and dented the minute I left the building. Extremely over priced for what I received. I doubt i'll be back to Cas Spa. I can't speak to the hair services, massage therapy, botox or electrology that Cas Spa offers so perhaps other reviewers will have a better experience utilizing these other services. read more

I recently had my hair done at the Cas salon. My stylist was Terra, she was young and very inexperienced. I could feel her hands shaking as she was beginning to cut my hair, which obviously made me nervous. I should have followed my instinct and had her just trim my hair, but I trusted that a high end salon would have experienced stylists. I was wrong. My hair did not turn out how I had described or expected, and I even had to go to another salon to have it fixed. Save your money and go to another salon in the city...this one is not worth your time. read more

I too purchased the Manicure/Pedicure/Facial special that was on Dealfind before Christmas. I bought one for my best friend and one for my sister (and accompanying ones for myself, so I could go with each of them). When I bought these, I had never heard of CAS Spa & Salon, but I figured that spa located on Dresden Row in Halifax must be a good one. I first went with my friend back in February. We did our manicure, then our pedicure. The filing/shaping job done on my nails was awful, my 8 year-old does a better job when we give each other manicures. I was left with nails that had shavings on the underside and were rough along the edge. The polish used was old and didn't go on very well and the tips of my nails and the edges were left missing polish on some nails. My fingers were chipped and ruined by the next day. My facial might have lasted 30 minutes and while it's relaxing any time someone is going to gently rub cream over your face, I was distracted by the discomfort of lying on a massage table that had no head support, and the bedding was not clean looking. And, I was worried that the quilt that was draped over my nails and toes was ruining the polish (which it did to my toes, left those yucky wrinkle marks) Overall, the atmosphere was not what I would expect of a spa, it was very dark and cheap looking. I can't speak to their hair and other services, but I was so disappointed after this visit that I dreaded having to bring sister for her present and was embarrassed that I'd bought these as gifts. I returned just recently with my sister and found myself warning her that it wasn't going to be what we're used to and that I'm sorry. We had our facials first this time. The facial was supposed to be 45 minutes, including a "personalized skin analysis". I was in and out in 25 minutes and was told that I should wear moisturizer with SPF every day, not just when I'm going to be outside and that actual sunscreen is better than moisturizer with SPF if I'm going to be in the sun - that was it. Then I started my manicure (my sister did not come out for another 20 minutes as she upgraded and got a mask in her facial). I had the same problems with the filing/shaping. Knowing what happened last time, I specifically told the girl not to leave any rough edges or filings under neath. I had both. When she got up to clean something, I filed one nail myself to fix it and she was mad and told me that was her job. My sister's esthetician did not speak English. This made it very difficult for my sister to communicate how she would like her nails shaped, where she had a sensitive spot on her feet during the pedicure, etc. I think in that field, the ability to communicate with your clients is extremely important to ensuring the experience meets their expectations. Because my sister was later coming in, her girl seemed to rush through her mani/pedi, giving her only a cursory massage (the part we enjoy the most of the service - otherwise we'd stay home and paint our own toes) On a positive, my sister said her facial was great. But, I was yet again disappointed and quite honestly surprised that they are still in business. The other services must be good. I will never go back and I will be very weary of ever buying something on Dealfind with an unknown company ever again. read more

Love this place. I got a fantastic deal on laser hair removal and am three months into my treatment. Lesley Williams RN (who is also the owner) is really professional but still friendly and my re growth is less and less noticeable after each treatment. I started with my underarms and will definitely move onto other area's once my package is complete. The CAS also offers many other services at competitive prices that I have taken advantage of, such as Botox, SO IMPRESSED with the results & encourage all who thinks they'll just wait to do it now! It is a relatively new business I believe they're in their 3rd of being open downtown Halifax on Dresden Row, the location is really convenient too :) I can walk over on my lunch break from work for nice quick pick me up. The staff is tremendously welcoming and able to answer any question regarding services you have to ask and most if not all of them are at a Master level, which says a lot. Trust me I've been to spa's all over North America and recently moved to Nova Scotia and this is the first Spa here I have visited that really gave me that 'taken care of' feeling. So be sure to check it out as I'm going to say you will love it as well. read more

I had purchased a 3ml bottle of Latisse a few months ago. They waived the consultant process as I had already had a consultation with a local dermatologist. When I called to order another bottle, the person on the phone said something about the dates on the product and wasn't sure if it was ok to use and that they would have the owner Leslie call me. Well she never did. I called three times, and finally I went in. Leslie claimed she was out of town, which I know she wasn't. Because the second time I called, the receptionist said she was expecting her shortly to see a client. Not only did they dodge my calls... When I finally visited the spa, Leslie was short and curt with me and said she is no longer selling the product. Nice ! NOT ! I don't recommend Cas Spa. read more

I moved to this salon when my stylist did last year, and I can say she's made a good choice! The salon is polished looking and the receptionist always makes me feel welcome by chatting and offering me a hot drink while i'm waiting. When it's time for my appointment, Terra my stylist is faboulous (as always) and always takes the time to make sure my style will last through till I'm in next, going through everything she does, step by step, and teaching me how to style it the same as she does. Just had my hair done at the CAS spa and I LOVE it so so so much! I was really scared because I wanted to cut off a lot of hair, but my stylist Tara made me feel so safe I actually went through with it and I can't be happier. I love how she spent so much time with me, knowing I was nervous to explain everything step by step. I would recommend this salon to anyone who is looking for a change! read more

Recently had the most disappointing, unprofessional experience at a spa ever. After receiving a Xmas gift certificate for a manicure/pedicure/facial, I looked forward to what I thought would be a very relaxing period. (After all, one expects quality from a prime south end Halifax location business establishment.) The aesthetician first of all chose to add lacquer thinner to the nail polish to make it go further as there wasn't enough left in the bottle to complete the job, She missed numerous spots at the tops and sides of my nails and declared that my cuticles required no work..and that was the manicure. As the two couches available for pedicures were occupied, I then spent almost 40 minutes in the manicure chair facing a wall about three feet away waiting. (The windowless room was also very tiny so not to be recommended for claustrophobics!). After soaking my feet in rather cool, plain water, I reclined on the very uncomfortable couch where I received my pedicure consisting of some oil being plastered on my legs, a very quick rub, and polish applied from the same bottle (despite my protestation that there wasn't enough left to do the job). The aesthetician was nearing her quit time so I was next whisked downstairs to a brightly lit room where I was given a grubby looking towel to put on. The linens on the bed were garish and appeared as though they were not changed in some time. The first time I tried to get on the table, it folded up on me .... After some adjustment, I made a second attempt and it simply collapsed. A third party was summoned to secure the bed and once it was done, I asked that someone else try it first! My facial may have lasted 15 minutes and this included several interruptions whereby the glaring lights were turned on as the attendant left to retrieve towels, etc. Of course this was all done in such a rush that my still undry toenails lost all of their polish to the linens which had been hastily thrown over them and me. Upon exiting the bed and pointing out this mess to her, the aesthetician declared she could fix them....so she ran upstairs and got that same polish bottle which should have been replaced some time ago and, after some scraping with her fingernail, started to smear over them! I was clearly unsatisfied so she said I would have to come back to have them redone. She also told me that her only opening was the next day at 7:45. While I initially agreed, I later called back to cancel.....why bother.. And best of all, later in the week I contacted the spa via e-mail, outlining my experience. To date, I have not been contacted to be offered an apology or any form of retribution. CAS you could learn from my usual spa, Interlude, Dartmouth location. Now that's a classy outfit! read more

For years in Halifax I had a hard time getting a haircut I liked. So much so that I started cutting my own hair. A friend of mine mentioned The Cas as a friendly push to stop my self-butchering haircuts. As a male who had only been to a couple of other salons and had bad experiences I was a little intimidated and embarrassed about the idea. BUT, I went and am glad about it. The staff that was working was very friendly. I was offered a drink on my arrival and felt very comfortable talking with them. The decor was kind of what is expected from a salon and spa, it was nice and clean. The window in the salon area was a great spot to people watch while waiting to be seen (I was early). I had Terra cutting my hair. Terra is awesome, because of her haircut I feel more confident in my appearance. She washed my hair with my new favourite (and at that point, unknown to me) shampoo called Clean Brew. I bought some on the way out I liked it so much. Terra made me feel at ease when I nervously asked about having my eyebrows waxed. I was fortunate that she had enough time to wax them right after my haircut. The place is a lot bigger than it looks on the outside and seems like they offer a lot of services. After booking a couple more appointments with Terra I can say that I will definitely be a repeat customer and recommend The Cas to anyone looking for a great haircut (and eyebrow wax lol). P.S. While talking with one of the staff, they mentioned an App they use called Perka. You can sign up and get points when you go to The Cas. After so-many points you get free stuff. I am so happy that I found CAS spa and salon. I was introduced by a friend and now I get most of my services done there. I love Vlad! I went brunette for a while because I was having a hard time finding a good colorist that could keep my "blond" frresh and not over done. Vlad has done such a great job time and again at picking the best color. I even sent my husband to him for his hair cuts. Great stylist! Now my favorite person at the spa is Lesley. She has fixed my skin. I had adult acne and she "cured" it and has improved the overall condition of my skin. I had seen many many many people before arriving at CAS (I even flew upo to TO) and I had little success at other spas/dermatologists. I did have some success with one other spa but it improved greatly after seeing Lesley. She really understands skin and improving not only to get rid of the acne but to make it look overall so much better. I even decided to get laser hair removal on my legs and that has been such a treat to not have to shave anymore! This has truly changed my life which I know sounds very dramatic but I am so happy!
