We came in on a Saturday late morning like 10am and it was a little busy. But not too bad. The place is very coffee/rustic bistro vibes. They had premade foods like soups, salads, bakery items to grab and go. But we want to try the breakfast sandwiches which were only available until 10:30am so we got lucky. Went for a quick bite for breakfast and they had just finished at 1030 but were able to accommodate as they had some eggs left. Big thank you the staff was very friendly and kind. I had the maple egg sandwich with scramble instead of fried egg as they didn't have. Very good though! Veggies and maple syrup were great. I had a plain iced coffee and it was also good. They had fruit fryes and I got the mixed berry. First time ever having it and it was great! Like a glazed donut and fruit turnover had a baby that usurped them Lots of good products on display and the menu seemed good overall. My entire group hated their food. Haystack wrap is incredibly bland, same for the breakfast special. Tasted worse than hotel breakfast.

What a delicious breakfast. An affordable and tasty breakfast place while you are on vacation. There is not an abundance of items but there is enough to satisfy a plethora of tastes, especially a family of six such as mine. My only complaint is that if you get the breakfast burrito, be sure to ask to mix up the contents before they roll it up otherwise you will instead have a 5 layer burrito, which is not necessarily bad but not to my liking. read more

The eggs were eggbeaters - terrible. The hash browns weren't browned and were pale white barely warm from frozen food package. I wouldn't serve this food at my home, let alone at a restaurant to paying customers. Stick with the sausage gravey, though you may need to order extra biscuits as they are so small. Another one I hesitate to review b/c I don't want the line to get so long, but this little cafe is a treasure. Ditch your diet and try the fry pies and the cinnamon rolls (all the flavors--live a little) and the donuts first. Come in for a haystack for breakfast and back for their delicious chicken salad at lunch. Follow them on Facebook so you know what the daily specials are; if y'all are listening, can we please get the chicken fajita salad as a regular item? Don't forget to hit the coolers for some chicken salad and macaroni salad (no idea what they do to it but it's really amazing), and if you're planning a brunch in the area, ask them to put a platter together for you (only if you like your guests a lot, because they might move in with you after enjoying this food). I went here on vacation a few times and it was very enjoyable--I ended up popping into the bakery for 3 out of the 7 days we were there! I would've gone in a 4th time but they are closed on Sundays. The bakery is situated on the main highway thru town, however it's not a very busy road. The bakery itself can be a little busy during peak breakfast hours but it kind of has a cozy feel to it. The staff were so pleasant and I liked trying out the different foods they had. We ended up really liking the shortbread cookies with raspberry jam, those went quickly in our house. The ham and swiss rolls were also very popular. They had a good assortment of pies, cookies, jams/preserves, and refrigerated items in their store front area. Along with hot food available at the counter if you walked up to order. I'll be a repeat customer here whenever I come back to Deep Creek. read more

We came for the donuts and stayed for breakfast, and it was amazing! We preordered the donuts (and luckily we did, as they were sold out when we got there around 10:30 AM). It smelled so good as soon as we walked in that we had to stay for breakfast, too. I had the best vanilla iced coffee and the haymaker wrap, which was served piping hot and absolutely stuffed with all the goodies - eggs, cheese, hashbrowns, salsa, and sour cream! It was definitely enough to share or save for another meal. The cafe is Amish-run, and all of the workers were very friendly. We got some of the baked goods, too, which were also amazing! Everything is affordable priced for the portions, and while there was a line when we were there, service was very quick! There's limited seating inside but plenty for groups outside. The store hours are limited at 7 AM to 3 PM but typical of a small-selection bakery. They offer merch as well as a limited range of self-serve baked goods and pies as well as a menu with made-to-order breakfast and lunch options. We ordered a cinnamon bun with frosting and a sticky bun; both of them tasted very good but the buns were a bit too dry and yet it was pretty early in the morning. I would try something else next time! There is some outdoor seating. As of June 8, no employees or customers wore masks since the state mandate had been lifted. read more

Stopped here for a lunch on a February Saturday afternoon. Limited hours until 2pm, nice folks working. They also carry breads, baked goods, and the same canned preserves and whatnot you'd get from the Casselman down the road in Grantsville. Ordered a chicken salad wrap and the lunch special is a sandwich, chips and drink for $9.29. Chicken salad was good - I thought it was done well. Also scooped a cup of the Maryland crab soup which was really good - had a nice amount of crab and spice to it. Wasn't runny or watery either. Well done. I stayed across the street at Cove Creek Lodge and was able to walk to the bakery! I had lunch the first day, a ham and cheese roll up, which was delicious and some fruit and a fabulous cherry fry pie!!! The staff is kind and helpful. We ate outside and it was just beautiful. The next morning I came in for breakfast and had the maple sandwich with the sautéed onions and peppers, I didn't even need to dip the sandwich in the syrup, it was so big I could only enjoy half. To take home to my husband and son, I decide to get the frosted cinnamon buns and the raspberry shortbread cookies, ham and cheese wraps, along with some hand designed DCL stickers. The only problem was I only purchased ONE box of cookies! I should have bought all the boxes that were there. They were the best cookies I've ever had. Until next time! Picked up some cinnamon rolls from here one morning before heading out on the water. They were fantastic and I love that there was the option to get a half-and-half of maple and cream cheese topping! The rolls themselves were soft and gooey and the maple topping is a game changer for cinnamon rolls. They were tastiest given just a few seconds in the microwave to heat them up. Also, the prices were super reasonable for the container. Worth the stop! read more

Sorry to dock a star, but when I go to Deep Creek for the first time ever, and tops on my list is trying a Casselman donut, and then I get there and find out they only have them on weekends? Yeah sorry, I have to take a star away. The maple cinn roll and pecan fried pie were fantastic tho. Like, could hardy be done any better. Also tried the strawberry rhubarb and mixed berry, but the fruit filling wasn't quite as well executed as the pecan. Great crust tho. read more

After all this time, I didnt mess up. I always get this place confused with the closer Casselman by Cumberland. This one posts a lot more on their FB page so I always see their specials - which I am happy for. But I always forget, its the one that's further away. Definitely cute and clean inside. Staff did very well and ordered easily along with getting our food to go quickly. For a little day trip to Swallow Falls and then swing in for lunch worked out well. Had there not been snow on the outside tables, I would've stayed and ate outside. Crab soup was really good and I liked the cheese steak. I got a root beer fountain drink with chips. Wish the cups for fountain drinks were bigger. Other than that, all around cool place to stop. read more

CASSELMAN IS A MUST STOP AT THE LAKE! Their Amish donuts are to DIE for! They normally sell out quickly so I would recommend calling ahead to reserve them or go early! You can tell that the fry pies are homemade. We ended up buying one of each. Our favorites were Cherry, Raspberry, and Pecan. We came here multiple times. Everything was good, from breakfast burritos to cinnamon rolls. One suggestion would be to ask for no sour cream on the burritos if you aren't 100% into that, because they really put a lot on. We tried all of the different variations of cinnamon rolls and many of the hand pies. Everything was really good, but cinnamon rolls with the maple glaze was the overall favorite. I've been coming to deep creek for years and for some reason never realized there was a cafe here lol, always thought it was a furniture store. Mistake on my part because it's great! I stopped by and grabbed a few things for a quick lunch and everything was awesome and priced really really reasonably. Everything was obviously homemade and fresh. The cinnamon roll was so good and the icing was perfect. The chicken salad was pretty good too and the ham and cheese and pepperoni rolls were still hot from the oven. I'll be stopping here again next time I'm up for sure. read more

There's not a ton of local (non-chain) food options in the Deep Creek area, so we decided to give it a shot after passing it several times on our travels through the town. The Casselman is a very small casual restaurant, and it seems they also do a lot of grab-and-go orders for locals working in the area. They offer a limited breakfast and lunch menu, as well as a special lunch item of the day, which was sold out by the time we got there for a late lunch at 2:00. They offer a small salad bar, which is stocked with garden salad mix, spinach, salad fixins', a variety of about 6 salad dressings, dinner rolls, macaroni salad, cole slaw, fruit salad, and 3 types of fresh homemade soups. I made myself a nice salad and a bowl of the vegetable soup; the soup was absolutely delicious! The salad was fresh and crunchy, though the ranch dressing was a little too sweet for my taste. My salad bar also came with a fountain drink (they offer Pepsi products and iced tea upon request). In addition to the lunch items, they offer fresh baked cookies, pies, Amish hand pies, Amish donuts, cupcakes, breads/rolls, and some jarred spreads famous at the Inn located in Grantsville. I will say that the tables weren't cleaned off, the trash cans were full, and many items (including all three soups) on the salad bar were empty or near empty. I understand that we went for a late lunch but they were set to be open for 3 more hours so I think that warranted refilling some items. I would visit again - but I will check the salad bar's offerings before I commit next time! read more

I bought 2 zucchini nut breads, a gigantic cinnamon roll and a large coffee for $14.00. Friendly staff and large parking lot! Stopped in here on our way out of deep creek because I was intrigued by the donuts. My, were they delicious. Doughy but not too dense, flaky glaze on top (and all over my car seat!) we also got a breakfast sandwich and breakfast burrito and they, too, were delicious and freshly made after ordering. Only had to wait maybe 10 minutes, quick flow of service. I will say the coffee was a little lacking. No specialty drinks, which is fine, but the actual coffee was just two canisters sitting out--1 decaf and 1 regular. It was really light coffee, which made me realize I must prefer more medium-bold because after adding my normal amount of cream and sugar to get the color right, it was super sweet and milk-ed down. Maybe a medium-bold option would help meet everyone's tastes! They also had some wonderful looking pastries, soups, and sandwich spreads I could see picking up before a day on the lake or a boat.
