We ordered 2 donuts, paid $5.xx and then the girl walked away. They didn't advise where to pickup or if she'd be back or what. So we walked around the wall and saw it was a glass wall, and you can see the machine. We thought the dough would be dropped fresh, and we would watch production. No, she grabbed what happen to be 2 donuts sitting in the hopper. I was thinking, aren't they supposed to be hot? I said maybe they are.. let's wait and see. So they iced them and topped them, put into a single box and handed us them at the end. We walked out on the balcony, opened the box and they were not hot. They were not "HOT" as advertised. I understand if I'm getting a dozen and I'm obviously taking them somewhere, but when two people walk in and order just two, is it safe to assume they are going to eat them now? If we ordered 3 would they have only made 1 more? Or all 3? I don't understand. We took a few bites and realized they aren't special, they weren't hot and the works and/or owners do not care. Period. There is no second chance and I will make sure to tell everyone about it. 1 bad experience will snowball and that's not what you want. You do have multiple ice cream options in the McHenry and Deep Creek Lake area, but Bear Creek has a couple distinct advantages. First, it is open year around, something the ones lakeside are typically not. Second, it is not usually overrun with lines out the door as some of those lakeside ones are (and there is a time and place for those as the view overtop the lake is good fun as well). The selection of ice cream is more than ample and the prices don't break the bank like many tourist-centered locations can do. And over the course of at least five visits across multiple years, I have never experienced slow, grumpy, or impatient service. Any frustration here is likely to come from other patrons rather than those behind the counter. And fair enough, it is the first time visiting for the tourists who often make up the clientele. There can also be big intergenerational groups where getting all the orders organized in a timely manner can be a challenge. But honestly, hopefully you are on vacation as well so where do you really need to be? There are a few tables inside and out so take a load off if you need to. And enjoy that tasty jolt of sugar or caffeine!

It's located on a plaza along road so kinda busy area, and parking can get crowded with other shops & restaurants. If you like brew pubs, I'd definitely stop.
