Fabulous! I called today, late morning, thinking I was going to have to board my cats for the night. The lovely Malone answered, and I do mean LOVELY. I had already checked out the website and decided on the accommodation. Malone suggested the 2nd floor maybe better for 1st time guests. Not as much activity as ground floor w/other guests checking them out, new neighbors lol. She explained a couple of other things that may make their stay more comfortable, things i hadn't considered. I'm getting new flooring and my existing floor isn't level, not conducive to plank, already one of them had walked on the float :( As the day unfolded the weather & industrial fans helping we are able to stay home. Good thing since one of them decided to do a walkabout. I called to cancel. Fully expecting to pay the nominal cancel fee but Malone said "oh no! You're fine" did i mention she's lovely? She said it was an emergency thing and she was glad we'd all be staying home, much more comfortable & less stressful for the cats. I have only ever heard good things, going all the way back to their original location on the Eastside. No question, if i ever need to board the kids, that's where they're going. We have taken our kitten here a few times and would recommend. The cat house has a big capacity and the room size we prefer has always been available. The girls that work there play with the cats during the day; Malone and Zoe are specially attentive and always give a detailed update at pickup. We were so nervous the first time since we'd never left him outside the home, but we had construction at our house while we were traveling, so decided to give it a try. He's stayed there several times since and they have been nothing short of wonderful. He seems much happier there than when he just has a caregiver briefly stop by the house. Would Definitely recommend to cat owners in Santa Barbara! I took in my cat Cleo (a 4yr old rescue) to get groomed and even though she was scared and I'm sure she gave them a tough time they took such good care of her. I just moved here and I needed a companion. I got my cat, Salem, about 2-3 months ago? I'm hesitant to book any animal anywhere as I have had some really, really bad injuries The Cat House Hotel has always been willing to accept him and take care of him really well. You can tell that these ladies work REALLY hard and that definitely should not be glossed over. They have been there when I had to fly for my nephews birthday, they even accepted him super short time and they were more than happy to be able to get him in, and could extend the dates because I had a family emergency. I definitely realize that i have likely just got lucky, I don't expect them to continually hold a bed for him. It's amazing how things worked out! Tears and all i walked over there to drop him off and continue to take excellent care. I really didn't want to share my experience because I'm selfish and don't want to share! Just last week I needed to make a last minute reservation for my kitty and they contacted her vet to receive the updated shot records. I adopted my kitty from the local shelter about 2 years ago, whenever I have to leave town there is no one else I trust with my prince more than the Cat House Hotel! When I first boarded him I was hesitant as I was scared he would think he was going back to the shelter, however the wonderful staff ensured me that it is a completely different vibe than the shelter and that each stay will get easier for him. And boy were they right! I came and picked him up and he was chilling on a cat tree, as happy as can be. The staff who checked me out were so loving and told me details on how my kitty was during the stay, they even kept track of his bowl movement! Every time I leave town, the Cat House is my life line. I have been using yelp for years, but I've never even posted a single review before. I've been a costumer of The Cat House Hotel for almost a year. I've been there many times for pet sitting and grooming in the past year.The longest time my cat stayed there is nearly 2 months. Therefore, I assumed that I'm pretty qualified to tell you how amazing this place is. I just picked up my cat there today, and she has been taken a good care as always. Staffs at The Cat House are really responsible and helpful. They always ask for details of your instructions to make sure your kitty feels comfortable during the boarding time there. Sometime near last Christmas, I had to go on a vacation. I had to leave on 6am that day so I asked my friend to send my cat there. However, when my friend got to my house, she found out that my cat had already escaped somehow(still a unsolved mystery). So I informed them that I had to cancel my reservations because I couldn't find my cat. Sandra gave us a lot of useful suggestions of finding escaped cat. What's more, they went out every night to search for me, and after 5 days, THEY FOUND MY CAT!! They called me right the way and it really delighted my trip. That's so amazing, They are really nice people and love animals and their job. I wouldn't have my kitty now without their help. I just want to send them my sincerely appreciation. Love this place! I can truly say that my cat looked happy when I picked her up and most importantly, the same as when I dropped her off. My cat does ok wherever I have to board her, but let's face it, cat's don't like a change of environment and with other places, even her regular vet's where I know they treat her well, she always looks a little scruffy and worn when I pick her up. You could just tell at the desk and from the employees there that the staff really cares about just taking good care of the pets. They went over care options and information and I felt very comfortable leaving my senior cat there. I was invited to call anytime and check in and when I picked her up they were clear about her care and anything they noticed. I also thought the price was very reasonable (very comparable to other regular (not posh) boarding places). Most importantly, instead of looking scruffy and sad, my cat had an attitude of a happy "hey there!" when I picked her up which is good by me! read more

This hotel is the best ever!! The cats are free to roam during the day and only caged at night. Inside the main room are couches, cat trees, and even a big 'real' tree for the cats to climb. The employees are absolutely wonderful!!! Every cat is attended to, played with, cooed over, etc. You couldn't bring your cat anywhere better!!! read more

I spent hours and days looking up different facilities, kennels and other options for our kitty cats when we'd be on a trip. At first, I bypassed the Cat House Hotel because I read couple of not so good reviews and got discouraged but sometime later, I checked back on it and I was really impressed with the earnest response from the owners/managers addressing the issues that particular customer had. Cat House Hotel painfully explained what had happened, what was done and what resolutions to look into and even offered to return the customer their fees. I also considered all the really good reviews too and realize that there are exceptions when things can be out of our control, especially when you're caring for pets (or people for that matter), there are unpredictable variables but as long as there are solutions I'm good with that. I got a tour of the place and was really happy with how cozy it was. It was apparent the cats there were happy and content. The place seems a bit small for the number of cats they take in but I'm sure if they could expand they probably would. The staff was very friendly, very knowledgeable, thorough, and were very comfortable caring for cats. They offered to send video or do FaceTime of our cats too. When we got back, our kitties were in good standing. We were very happy. The fee is very reasonable. Now, we're planning another trip and will be boarding our babies there again! read more

My husband and I were searching for cat boarding before we move to Santa Barbara. We were referred to this facility from a local vet when we were calling around. Fortunately we decided to get a hotel room that takes animal because they were already under a lot of stress from the road trip. Nonetheless we stopped by the facility to see it anyway. Everyone there is really nice and appears to adore the animals. The facility itself is an open space for cats to be free rather than trapped in their cages. We saw a handful of kitties enjoying themselves like vacationing. I would really recommend this place. This place is such a blessing. I housed my cat Monster there several times in the years before she passed, at almost 21 years old, and she was always treated like the Queen she was. Now I leave my new cat Kudzu there, who actually just finished a long 3 week and 2 day stay. The staff is fantastic, and the environment is nuetral ground and great for cats of all types and ages. My cat is very skittish and when ever he is around dominant cats he get beaten up. So I was a little worried about him sharing a space with other cats. But it all went fine, he didn't get into any fights and when we went to get him he looked very comfortable and happy. read more

I have had 7 different cats stay through the years and each was treated like gold (even those who have *big personalities* and can be very challenging!).
