I arrived a little bit over 10 minutes late due to traffic and I did not see anyone at the front. Someone had to go find the person that worked at the box office to come and she said that they over sold the ticket to the event. At first, she said that they waited 10 minutes then she changed it to seven minutes. Thought they waited for me to check in then they gave up my seat. I pay for the ticket ahead of time so I lost out on money because the theater made a mistake of overselling. I asked her if there's a way of getting a refund and she said that I can try but most likely not. At all cost avoid this theater because they will sell your seats away, even if you paid for them already.

I went to this venue May 2026 for a stand up show…read more I took the metro to the Chinatown station and walked 15ish minutes to the venue. (You walk along the Historic LA park). It felt safe overall walking at 6pm even with the homeless in the area, because there were a lot of locals out walking with their family/pets. The walk back to the station was a little more concerning, highly recommend not being solo on the way back - it's just not well illuminated along Spring St in portions. The venue itself is lovely and very safe feeling but the surrounding areas at times feel sketchy. I did public transport because I was worried parking would be an issue, but it seems there was actually plenty of parking down the street since it's so close to the park. I would advise parking in the lot on the other side of Spring St. The check in was easy, they check your ID and give you a wristband if you want to drink. There's a sweetly arranged outside area for hanging out and the bar inside was well decorated. The venue was nice, though I sat in I1 and I had my view partially blocked by a pole (it wasn't too bad because I was watching stand up and he moved around a lot, but I imagine it may be annoying for other types of shows or performances). Would totally visit an event here again.

The "Cinderella" of venues, it takes the grand, outdoor setting of the Bowl (concrete Jerusalem gates carved into the Hollywood hills) and the intimacy of a backyard party. With 1200 seats (opposed to 17500), you're always under 100 feet from the stage. The seats being steeply raked means you are closer to the stage than the Greek. (The Theater, I mean, not loud, hairy Niko guy next to you). And being tucked into a natural canyon makes the acoustics extra crispy, which made Erasure (10 years ago today) one of my favorite concerts. Side note: I found the 3 tickets on ebay for 99 cents, something that pissed off the guy next to me who paid $200. He Loved to Hate Me. He called me "Biggie Fries" all night, referencing Wendy's Value Meal. Built in 1920 by Christine Wetherill Stevenson, a wealthy heiress who wanted to build a space for her play about he life of Christ "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Calvary". No, it was "Pilgrimage Play" It burnt down in 1929 but rebuilt in 1931 to look like stone, making it feel like an ancient, rediscovered space. Anyway, it only hosted Christ plays (I would have called it "Nailed iT!") until the 1964 separation of church and state opened the venue to all arts. It was named after the county supervisor John Anson Ford, who was a champion of the arts. In the late 80's it was the "West Coast CBGB", hosting Ramones, Social D, X, Chili Peppers and Jane's Addiction. If you need more bands, just use your first three Wordle guesses: Tacos Marry Happy opened for Radio Caulk Barfy. It unveiled a $80 million renovation in 2017, so if it was gorgeous in 2006, I am sure it is Gorgeouser now. In 2019, the LA Phil took over, so now it is the little sister of the Bowl and Disney Concert Hall. In 2020, it had its centennial, marking 100 years since Stevenson first staged a Christ play in that canyon. To celebrate, the partygoers turned wine into pee.

I had previously seen advertisements for The Ford LA through various outlets, but I am frequently reminded of my introversion and often avoid driving through LA traffic. However, my wife wanted to check out the The Natural World of Studio Ghibli, and what a night it was! We have seen nearly all of Miyazaki's creations, but this was our first time watching "Howl's Moving Castle" in an outdoor theater. It was lovely! Fresh air, a few butterflies flying across the projector, stars in the night sky, and the iconic backdrop were some highlights to mention. The Ford is as fun as advertised, and I've already begun recommending it to my friends. This place has history, and you can feel it! Additionally, there isn't a bad seat in the house! We sat in Row P, and when I arrived, I took it all in. There's certainly a bit of magic here. The only negative is the parking. It's stacked parking, so you may end up waiting on other visitors to get to their cars before you can even think about moving. Otherwise, we already have plans to return to The Ford Theater!

From the first time I reached out, Esmeralda (event coordinator) responded back within 2 days and was in constant contact with me through the event. She set up a walkthrough beforehand so I could see the venue in person and get a feel of how and where everything would be. Contract and set up went flawlessly. Esmeralda help me get connected with their preferred vendors for music, food, etc. then during the event she helped with final touches for set up (I was quite demanding for how tables and heaters and music had to be set up). I cannot thank her enough because she was calm and knew exactly what needed to be done so I'd give 5 stars to her personally. Separate thank you to Miguel, bartenders and other venue staff that worked in sync to make sure that guests had a great time. We had close to 120 guests and no one ever noticed how dishes/glasses were getting cleaned up. Food was carried around to everyone inside and out. People felt welcome and relaxed. Now let me tell you about the venue. It was decked in holiday cheer and honestly looked like we were on an old classic holiday movie set. Christmas tree was a big hit. Everyone wanted to take pictures with it and the big white bears (my personal favorite). Security: I initially thought it was unnecessary to have security for our group but Esmeralda said it was required for our size of the event and I agree with her now. Security team lead checked our guests in and made sure no outsiders came in. Other security agents walked the venue and made guests feel comfortable. I barely noticed them at first but later noticed that they did perimeter checks and made sure everyone and everything was safe. Lastly, Esmeralda got me connected with a parking lot owners next door so our guests could park really close and didn't have to walk far to the venue. Big thank you for that as we Angelenos appreciate having convenient parking like no one else. To sum up: venue is classy and timeless, event coordinator knows what she's doing and will help make the event set up as smooth as possible, event staff was cheery and bright. What else can you ask for?! Absolutely loved this place.

Luckily, there is a venue parking adjacent so saved time to not circling the block. The interior carries a nice charm from golden years and seating are tight (less legroom). We can to support a traveling show - - and bring a HUGE Star Wars fan and dark humor -- this brusque prodigy of current events hits my funny vibes to the core! Love the themed drinks at the second floor bar. We saw The Empire Strips Back and now Batette Follies of 1939. Great view from any seat in the small theater. It's an old theater and as expected the seats are a little worn and not the most comfy but that doesn't stop you from enjoying the performances. A large, multi-level parking garage is available next door. Very convenient since we all know how hectic finding parking in LA can be.

This place has a lot of history and the theater could seat 200 people, with a good quality screen and sound, very rare to find. The owner Viktoriia works in the film industry and is very prompt.
