The instructor is an exceptionally talented artist, but what stood out even more was her ability to teach with patience, clarity, and presence. Her instruction created a calm, focused environment where it was easy to slow down, breathe, and simply be in the process of making art. Each class felt like a meditative respite. For a few hours, I was able to step out of the stress of life and reconnect with creativity, observation, and a sense of inner quiet. That is a rare and meaningful gift. The space itself is welcoming and supportive, and you can feel the care that goes into both the teaching and the environment. Our home base is Poplar Knight Spot, a gallery located at 114 Knight Street in downtown Aberdeen, two blocks east of US 1, just east of the corner of Poplar and Knight . The gallery is totally accessible with parking adjacent to the building at 114 Knight Street in downtown Aberdeen. Tickets may be purchased on line through the web site, or at the door with cash or check. Children under twelve are always free at the Rooster's Wife events, furthering the mission of building community through the arts. Could not add this place without putting in a review. It seems they close once the live performances are over, even if that is 12am rather than 2am. Understandable, as it's an event-focused space, not just a bar. The one thing I saw here that I've never seen before, is that many of the live hiphop acts were singing/rapping over music that already had singing/rapping in it. Idk if they were rapping over other people's tracks, and that's just a Thing People Do that I didn't know about, or if they were rapping over their own tracks. But I would just think that as a young local performer, you'd want to sing or rap over instrumental tracks so we can hear You and You alone.

My advice is to check their website or the Independent (which often selects shows at the Nightlight as one of their weekly 'picks') and read the description. If it sounds intriguing, make your way down the little alley next to Fuse restaurant and check it out. And if you like what you hear, buy the CD (bands need love).
