Big thumbs up for ambiance and service. There's a great view of the river and I love the little blue lights on the ceiling. The taco salad needs some work though. It had way too much beef and the veggies were pretty bland: iceberg lettuce, tomato, onion, and black olives. Other than that though, it was great!

The Cellar has fantastic food, something for everyone. I highly recommend the egg rolls, cheese curds made from a local dairy cheese, and pretty much anything that involves their bourbon sauce. Great view of the river!

The Cellar is a great place to be! Food is always delicious, the environment is comfortable, service is friendly and it's always full of locals that come every day. I definitely recommend stopping by.

I like this place. It's in a small town in southern iowa right by the mississippi river. People are friendly and food is exceptional. I had the fried green beans, yes I said fried green beans. They are very good. I also had the chicken cordon blue and it was pretty good as well.

Stopped for lunch. Fast and Friendly service. Good Brad's Iowa tenderloins. Good chicken Cordon Bleu. Onion rings are good, but You pay and extra .75 to make them a side and you don't get many. Good variety of sandwiches. Expanded menu and dinner.

Really enjoyed the appetizers and the food. The back was pretty full and we had small kids so they opened up the front for us

Expensive but the food is good. I have only ate there a few times due to the higher cost and much better family options in town.

I was on a quest to find the crispiest chimichanga, and I think I found it at The Cellar :) The service is a little slow, though.

Review Visit: August 8th, 2016…read more Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo. I like to say that bar food is the best food, so when I am out and about exploring, I try to find pubs that have good reviews to eat at. With that train of thought in mind, The Buffalo came up on my radar one day after exploring Iowa. Having an empty belly that kept reminding me to get some food, I headed over to The Buffalo to see what they offered. Upon entering, I was greeted with the usual dim-lit bar scene. Nothing was too bright but nothing was too dark. It was the right mix of each. As for the bar itself, it was your typical bar with the usual decor that you see in most bars. What was unique about this place was the massive amount of writing on the ceiling. It seemed almost every ceiling tile had something scrawled on it. There may be a story to it, but it's not found on this out-of-towner. I ordered the The Western Bacon BBQ Burger with fries. I remember being disappointed in the small size of the burger but rather enjoying the taste of it and the fries. The small size of the burger was made up by the fries and I left with a mostly full belly and a smile on my face. Within reason, I am okay with smaller sizes if the flavor/quality blows me away. At some point during my visit, I noticed they sold those gimmicky pull tab lotto tickets. Being the sucker for a cheap thrill, I bought 2 for $1 or something like that. I won something like $0.50 and bought another pull tab.. which was a non-winner. Between the unique ceiling, tasty food, usual bar environment, and friendly customer service, I would have to say you won't be buffaloed by visiting this tavern.

Great friendly local bar. They have great drink specials. The Gouda cheese curds are terrific…read more Will be back for sure.
