This is going to be the final time I order from this restaurant. I asked for a bayou Burger with no cheese, it took them over an hour to get it to us and then they brought it to us with cheese on it. I immediately told the girl we ordered it with no cheese, and then she brought this back. Obviously the cook was upset that the food was returned but it wasn't anything that we didn't ask for. Big thumbs up for ambiance and service. There's a great view of the river and I love the little blue lights on the ceiling. The taco salad needs some work though. It had way too much beef and the veggies were pretty bland: iceberg lettuce, tomato, onion, and black olives. Other than that though, it was great! read more

I ate here shortly after they remodeled and changed it up and I got to say what a surprise! The food was fresh, the staff were so kind and the place just looked so much better. It's so clean and open. Their food is great, I highly recommend for family dinners, date night outs. I wish I had my prom when it was remodeled, they really changed for the better. My husband and I were immediately greeted at a table. The waitress was knowledgeable, accommodating, punctual, and provided above average customer service. I'd like to say I could give a solid review about the food however, no one waited on us so we left. We were traveling through town and stopped in for lunch. We walked in and the bartender barely spoke or acknowledged us. We sat down and no one came over to ask us for our order. After about 15 minutes we left. I really like this place. It's an old building with a cool vibe. The front half is more of a bar and the back half is more of a family oriented sit-down, informal dinning area. The whole place has lots of tv's. We stopped in with a big group on a recent Saturday afternoon. There was approximately eight of us. We sat in the back dining area. When we were there some tv's had college football and others had the Cubs/Cardinals game. Being so close to the Missouri border it was overwhelmingly Cards fans. I had a Cubs shirt but never felt threatened or unwelcome. The Cubs won! On to the food: I had a pork tenderloin. It was excellent. My daughter had the beer battered chicken. It was so damn good. The service here was once the friendliest I could hope for, and another time it was non-existent. The salad bar was fine, and the entree ranges from mediocre to cold and underprepared. I ordered the huge grilled burger done "Johnna's" way with hot pepper cheese and sauteed onions and jalapenos...IT WAS OHHHH SOOOOO GOOOOOD! Finally! a place that isn't afraid to still serve a medium cooked burger with loads of flavor and not all dried out. Expensive but the food is good. I have only ate there a few times due to the higher cost and much better family options in town.

We have gone there once before and eaten inside, the food was good, the service was decent but at this point I will not be going back. I called to ask questions about the menu for a huge take out order and the woman who answered the phone was immediately rude and had zero interest in answering a single question. The conversation went like this... HER: *mumbles something that I truly couldn't understand* ME: Is this The Cellar? HER: Um yeah? 1 and only trip! I probably will not go back. The wait for everything was long. The food was okay, nothing to write home about. The salad bar, well it was a salad bar. The big problem was the waitress was more interested in visiting with her friend than serving the customers. She got all of our orders wrong. One of us never received silverware. We ate or tried to eat here last night the only thing I can say is the beer was cold and the first waitress tried to do her best. Our food was cold. After we sent our food back so they could warm it up it was still cold. We talked to the owner Brad, he poked his fingers in my son's baked potato said it was warm enough to eat then poked around on my boyfriends stake said just take it and eat it. Then a second waitress came and brought beer to our table she even served my 15 yo a beer that I wouldn't let him drink. My wife and I sat down and waited for 10 min and finally got a drink order then waited for another 10 min then left. No one came by to get our order, yet other tables were getting refills and serviced. They need more staff or better system. Let's start off with the good about this place. It appears to be the only restaurant/bar that is open on Sunday. However, keep in mind that they only serve food till 2:30 PM. The service was great! The servers were on top of my refills and it work quick with getting the food prepared. Even more importantly, we arrived at 2:45 PM, 15 minutes after they stop serving food and they still made it a point to take care of us after shutting down a lot of things in the kitchen. They didn't have to do that but they still went out of their way which I am very appreciative of and so was my friend. In terms of the bar food, that left a little bit more to be desired. I got some jalapeno Cajun burger and I wasn't a fan. The Patty was dry and I didn't like the fact that it was served on toast. My friend got the tenderloin sandwich which she only found to be mildly appealing. We also split an order of cheese poppers which were served in a nice portion size. The place itself has the atmosphere of your typical dive bar. It was funny to witness the servers doing shots and drinking away behind the counter. This did not affect the service at all in fact we found it quite entertaining. I do not like the layout of the bar top because there is a pillar that blocks part of the area from being able to see the TV in case you want to watch a football game. At most I would suggest going here just to grab a beer and some appetizers but don't go for anything beyond that. read more
