The special was catfish fillet the drink special was that they called a margarita firecracker now I don't drink, but my lovely girlfriend does. I've never seen a margarita put in a glass that is intended for whiskey so that was the first I had sweet tea, but it wasn't sweet at all. We ordered our supper at 6:52 PM. I called the waitress over at 7:45 she said they were backed up in the kitchen. I don't believe this was true. Everyone around us had their food except us. I believe she didn't get the order in or they lost the ticket when the meal came at around 8 o'clock. The baked potato would not melt butter. You could hold it in your hand. It was cold. I ordered grilled fish. I got fried fish. My girlfriend had chicken fried steak. It's actually chicken fried chicken she had mashed potatoes. They reminded us both of when we were in high school. We get those potatoes that you're not quite sure they're potatoes. I called the waitress over. I told her about my meal. She said she'd have them remake it. I said no thank you she said she'd take it off the bill. It's not about money. I can afford to eat wherever I want. She didn't offer to do anything else and I believe us having to wait almost an hour for our food was really ridiculous. Needless to say I'll have second thoughts if I ever decide to eat there again. read more

While it's called a brewery (historically that is accurate), they do not brew their own beer. The apps were great and better than the overall food. I had the brisket sandwich which was good, but would be better not as a sandwich. Our server was great and attentive. The ambiance is a bit different as there are a handful of plastic folding tables as seating options. The bar area is nice but not a lot of tables or seating options. Located on the river there is seating when the weather is nice and a good outdoor ambiance. It's a nice country drive if you are looking for a summer roadtrip. read more

We brought a large group of ATV riders to this restaurant recently. There were 126 of us that did overwhelm the front of the house crew at first, but it all worked out after a while. We had talked to the owners ahead of time and did remind them several times after that including one hour ahead with an exact number. I used to play in the old, abandoned brewery as a child. I remember what it looked like back then and trust me.....it's fantastic now! LOTS of work was done and now, it's an awesome place to go!! Saw this place on Yelp on the way back to Iowa from Illinois. It was further out of the way than we realized BUT, it was well worth it. Although they weren't an actual 'brewery',meaning they do NOT brew anything than maybe hot tea or coffee, they do make great food. We tried two kinds of fish, both were very tasty. Spoiler alert... this is not a brewery. It used to be. But it's not now. What it is now though (maybe?) makes up for it. It's a kick ass bar food restaurant with great views, beyond friendly service, and an amazing view of the Mississippi River. Not to mention the original building, which days back to 1860. The history is perhaps the coolest part about this visit (which is saying something, given we sat outside at a picnic table watching the sun set and the river go by while we were serenaded with the revel of a wedding going on in the event space next door). Anyway, back to history. When the Prohibition era began (1920's) beer-making in the brewery was terminated. But, a brick and stone tunnel was then apparently constructed (and recently rediscovered) that leads down to the near the river - obviously for bootlegging. Storage caves used to keep beer cool before transport were also discovered. The brewery was re-legitimized in 1933 and operated until 1972 when it sat vacant until 1992 when restorations into a bar / restaurant and reception hall began. Those were completed in 2003 but the owners were forced to sell in 2008 in response to a challenging economy and the recession. There was also apparently consideration to tear down the building at that time (gasp of horror!) In the nick of time, the owner's son and partner came up with plans to reopen and it was saved! There were at that time, big plans for a riverside tiki bar, brick pizza oven, wedding gazebo, and campsites with electricity. The campsites seem to be there, as does an extensive outdoor deck mounted on a railroad car. All that to say... if you're in the area, make a visit! Just don't go expecting any Warsaw Brewery beer. read more

This was a SUPER impromptu stop on an already unresearched roadtrip with my partner and our dog. 1) it's NOT actually a functioning brewery, which was slightly disappointing but was made up for by... 2) the view! Since we had our dog we sat outdoors but I would choose to anyway. Excellent view of the river. We saw several barges go by and lots of birds. Plus the property is just COOL if you like old architecture. 3) the food was good. Not *great* but satisfying and just what should be expected from a sort "stick to your bones roadside diner." I HAD to have the loaded Bloody Mary. The drink it self was so-so but the "garnishes" were yummy and filling. The hushpuppies stood out. This place just has a lot of character and overall it was a highlight of our unplanned trip read more

TLDR; Great bar food and kind service in a cool setting, but do be prepared to wait a little. A really nice stop when when not pressed for time. This was a great afternoon stop while we were in the area working and playing. Our niece wanted some wings and Yelp helped us find somewhere interesting! It was a lazy Sunday and after the lunch hour, but we still had a 15 minute wait. They were getting a pretty steady trickle of folks. It's right along the river and we waited outside in a nice breeze on a deck with benches. The food really hit the spot. I was really happy with a Horseshoe with a Mother Clucker. Lattice fries dumped over a chicken sandwich over Texas toast, all smothered in cheese. My wife had chicken and waffles and was happy. This is one of those gems everyone loves to find! The building is unique. The setting is beautiful. They restored part of an old brewery. It's located on a hill overlooking the Mississippi River. The views from the patio are spectacular. Inside, the old brick walls and layout are interesting. The furniture is primarily wooden booths, folding tables and chairs. The staff are friendly and down-to-earth. This is bar food and they don't try to pretend it's not. I do love their Build-A-Burger menu. It's not just burgers. There are various meats (burgers, chicken, tenderloin, pork, brisket, rib-eye, Italian beef) and breads (white, sweet, sweet jalapeno, onion, sourdough, Texas toast) and condiments to choose from. It's tasty. There are also a ton of fried appetizers to choose from. (poppers, corn nuggets, onion rings, fried pickles, mushrooms, cauliflower, mozzarella sticks, etc). The portions are huge and the prices reasonable. All four of us ordered a meal but we could easily have just ordered two meals and had food to split. As it was, we had plenty of leftovers. This is definitely a hidden gem of a place. A half-ruined brewery overlooking the Mississippi River, where you can eat on the stone patio and watch the eagles. The food was excellent--I had a very juicy lobster roll and fried corn fingers. Service was attentive and they brought water for our dog. It's definitely worth the drive to see this place. read more

What a spot! Had an excellent meal here. The nachos were overflowing the platter plate they came on. Wings were perfectly crispy and saucy. Plenty of brews to pick from!!! We caught it on a night when there was a live band. The building has a very unique feel, as a repurposed brewery and seems lots of plans in the works.
