Glad we stopped in on our way through Topeka. It's a perfect place to meet up with family as you travel through their state. Food and drink were tasty and our table of people with strong opinions about the food they consume was happy with all that was ordered. I recommend the French Philly. I also heard the fish and chips were pretty awesome too. A member of our party forgot to pick up their credit card and when we went back to get it they had it for us. Food: 2/5 The food was just ok. The soup was salty but not all that flavorful. The salad was not well balanced and the Mac and cheese was also too salty. The cheese sauce paired with the cheese on top made it difficult to eat and overly rich with nothing to cut the creaminess. It just felt like it needs some acidity maybe or even some tang from a bit of white wine or Dijon mustard. I would not go back. The soda tasted fine, so I suppose they clean their taps often enough . Service 3/5 The service was a slow but the bartender/ waitress was nice and knowledgeable about the menu and local activities. Ambiance 4/5 The bar has a really chill vibe and if it wasn't for the food, I would probably go back for that alone as it felt like an Irish pub should feel. read more

The spinach artichoke dip with tortilla chips and pieces of bread were decent although I wish it had more spinach flavor. Delicious appetizers and meals. Service ambience good, we have been going here for decades and never disappointed.

I sure wanted to give a great report on this longtime Topeka bar and grille. Particularly in light of reports I've heard about capital outlays they have made to improve the space, which I will admit were evident and nicely done. The problem is like most of the competition all over Topeka, the food is mediocre at best. Nothing my large group and I sampled stood out as original or inspired. The fries which were an accompaniment to several of our orders were the crusted/seasoned type that no serious fry lover enjoys. Great ambience! Has the typical Irish Pub feel. I was glad to get decent beer such as Harp, Smith wicks, and Guinness . I ordered the Rueben based on past reviews. My rueben was bone dry, the meat was shredded and over cooked. There was no dressing nor cheese. Our server was new so I'll not rate the service. In town for a concert and stopped in for happy hour. Sat at the bar. Not the greatest deals for happy hour- just domestic and well drinks. (4-6pm) ordered a black and tan and some appetizers. Best Fish and Chips in Topeka. I was there for fire conference so service and atmosphere was hard to judge.

I had not been here in a couple of years. Went in for lunch. I knew I was in trouble due to the speed in which the food came out. I had the shepherd's pie. I went for my cousins bridal shower(4/22)which was in the back party room, it was a nice venue and the Bartenders were friendly and came back often to check on us. Went there tonight with a group of friends and coworkers. We reserved the Lounge room upstairs. It was wuiet and cozy upbtgere. Food was delicious. Everyone loved everthingvthey ordered from patty melts, Bangers and mash, chicken fried steak, open faced roast beef sandwich, chicken tenders, quesadillas etc. All were very flavorful and well-made. We walked in and we're immediately greeted by a smiling bartender who seated us and gave us menus. We asked about the drink offerings and he was very patient with our questions. Ordered beer and went through the menu. Pretty standard fair but it was hot outside so we didn't want stew or soup. We asked our friendly bartender and he said that the most popular dishes were Fish and Chips and the Reuben. We ordered pub queso for appetizer, husband ordered fish and I ordered the reuben. Since I dont care for rye bread bartender suggested I substitute sourdough which I did. We waited a bit and our queso came. It was a good portion but somewhat cold and chips were standard out of the bag variety. The dinners came and my Reuben was toasted brown with lots of corned beef, sauerkraut and cheese. The fish and chips were pretty chintzy for the price. I ended up eating half my sandwich and, since husband was still hungry after his small portion, he ate the other half. His were good, just a tiny portion. We passed on desert. The friendliness of our bartender/waitperson kind of made up for it but we probably won't be back. Came here for the first time today. I like the location and atmosphere. I ordered Fish n Chips and a beer. I enjoyed the food although there was more batter than fish. The fries were really good. My 3 stars is for the service; it was ok, could've been a little better. As someone who used to waitress, I hate it when they bring you your food and just walk away immediately. This is the opportunity they have to ask if you need ranch dressing, ketchup, whatever. That way, your server isn't going back and forth. Food was abysmal! The WORST reuben sandwich I've ever had in my life! $17 bucks for that sandwich! Oily and gross. Fries were just as bad. Old oil that had not been changed or strained in who knows how long. My BF ordered the chicken fried steak, which he said tasted like fish (fish and chips probably fried in the same place), and it was chewy even though it had been hand-made. The oil was probably old and had not been changed or filtered. We were both sick for most of the night afterward. The total bill, including drinks and tips, was over $100. Definitely not worth that kind of money, except for the service, which was amazing! Our server was fantastic! Drinks were kept full, and plates cleared continuously. We got our lunch delivered. It came super quick, even before they were actually open! The chicken strips and fries were delicious and so was the chicken salad. The food and service here is excellent. Recently renovations have maintained the pub aesthetic but made it more spacious and modern. The food--standard pub fare, e.g. fish and chips, sandwiches--is OK. Not fabulous, but passable. The service, however, is completely hit and miss. It's not that the servers aren't nice, but it seems like the place is just chronically understaffed at lunch time. The last time I ate here it took ten minutes just to get a menu, and that isn't an isolated incident--not cool. The saving grace?
