This place was adorable! We were greeted and seated by the lovely owner. The brunch menu was simple, and there were many drink options! We enjoyed the breakfast scramble with egg, Gruyère, mushrooms, red pepper and bacon, and also the creamed corn beef. Each entree was served with a small bowl of fruit and a small salad. I chose to come here for my birthday dinner after learning about it last Fall in a women's group I am in. We drove in dark, cold rain from Manhattan to enjoy a nice meal here. We had a table waiting for us! I ordered a bellini and Eric R. started with a cocktail before getting a local beer to try. We shared three plates: the chicken meatballs, the roasted tomato caprese, and the olive tapenade. Everything was delicious. We shared the salted caramel sundae for dessert. First of all . . . it is the staff here that enhance everything about this charming place! They are exceptional! And then there's the unique cocktails! Oh, and the food! We loved the stuffed mushrooms and the free spicey little pretzels. Water served in a wine bottle,of course! We began our late evening upstairs with charming Hannah, the sommelier. My dirty martini, though off the menu, was perfection. Hubs had the "Penicillin" which I'm sure could cure cancer! Fortunately, they had room for us in the basement speakeasy, "The Principal's Office," where I was treated to an 1890's original gin martini made with the owner's hand-crafted gin. Mild and ever so slightly sweet, it was right up my alley. Hubby had a "Bitter Chocolate Fashioned" which came with a giant square ice cube and was very good. A piano player and singer were just finishing up as we were seated, but I had enjoyed snippets of "Play Misty For Me" and "My Funny Valentine," oldies but goodies well performed. We went to celebrate a birthday and wanted drinks and small bites. There were 6 adults. We were seated extremely close to another 3 top basically in the walkway to the restroom. Beside us was a group of 10-11. They were loud so it made the whole place loud because there are no noise softening surfaces. We waited a long time for our one drink order and we order two shareable appetizer plates. The quality was okay but the size was ridiculously small-especially the charcuterie board. Barely enough for 6 people to have a piece of cheese. Service was fine and friendly but slow. We'll try again sometime to see if it's better. This is a really cute little lounge. It gets packed so be sure to get there early and make reservations beforehand if you want to go in. Sitting out side on the patio isn't bad but could be a lot better with fans out there. I've been told there is a speakeasy down below called the Principals Office but I didn't get a chance to go check it out because it was reserved that evening for a book club. The service is good inside. Water and pretzels are served. Friendly staff. No complaints really only wish since we were sitting outside in the heat they would have came out and offered more water. The food is actually appetizers only but everything sounded wonderful. We got the goat cheese with fig served with slices of baguette and crackers. That was hard to turn down. Creamy, warm and still making my mouth water. The wine selection is a bit limited for a place that is called a wine lounge. The cocktails are fancy, aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, and the cost will hit you in the pocketbook if you're not paying attention because it's easy to indulge here. It's a great date spot, get together with some friends, or apparently have your book club meet up kind of place. Definitely a place to check out. It's a little hidden treasure in the middle of a charming neighborhood that you'll miss unless you get out and explore the town a bit. read more

First time in, very neat little place with a good atmosphere. Cocktails were very good but the service was rude at best. We were sat in an area with a little couch and 2 chairs. There was only two of us so two other people were sat in our area a little while later. From then on our service disappeared and all the attention focused on the college age kids that were seated opposite of us. This is my second time here. I have been alone both times and able to find a solo seat at the bar but it really seems like you need a reservation otherwise. I have NOT been to the speakeasy downstairs. But I hear everyone around talking about "downstairs" so it must be great lol. The bar has had lovely, professional bartenders each time. They seem passionate and meticulous. I'm just drinking wine but the other patrons are raving about the signature cocktails. Apple and smoked Gouda tartine is great! I had the bruschetta last visit, it was ok, order something funner :) The in-house pretzels are real good too. read more

We went for our anniversary (49!) and were delighted. Had a cocktail and 'bites' to start, she had raspberry something which she loved and I had Woodford double oaked bourbon neat. The olive tapenade was fabulous and the we had tartines - one with salmon and one with tomato and olive. Both delicious. The chocolate truffles for dessert were excellent. Also had a glass of wine - nice list of wine selections. Menu showed local beers on tap as well some bottled options. Great list of signature cocktails - I will try one on my next visit. We tried 3 items from the Bites menu and they were all delicious. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the options. We were visiting relatives in Topeka and found Salut on Tock for a Sunday Brunch. With a nod to the French with an impeccable setting and menu, this a great alternative for a delicious brunch. Their Almond Croissant is one of the best we have had in a very long time (as it's all about the lemon paste interwoven into the dough). Though we did not order traditional eggs and bacon, this too is on the menu! And though it is not on the menu, they prepared poach eggs to perfection to go along with our avocado toast. Although it replaced my favorite bakery(sobbing for my lost kolaches), I have to give high marks to Salut. Vanessa T gave great recommendations for starters and the Grazing Board and Meat and Cheese Board had an interesting and tasteful variety of flavors My wife also ordered the Brie and Apricot which was excellent. I also had the Warm GoatCheese and Fig dip and it was very good. The cocktails were firs rate, especially the Barrister and the seasonal Pete Noel. If you are looking for a cozy place with good ambiance, a fun and welcoming staff and a tasty drinks and food, this is the place. This is such a charming venue!! We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and everything was delightful! Friendly service, delicious food, terrific wine and cocktails. The prices are in line with happy hour pricing in big cities. This is precisely the sort of place Topeka needs more of! If Topeka is ever going to get their tourism off the ground they have to step up with hotels, restaurants and shopping. This is a start! I am looking forward to returning. read more
