I went to go in for my check up and met the new doctor Kayley Sokol. She is no Dr Angevine for…read moresure. She told me I am done with the program which is fine but I was taken aback because I really set up for a yearly check up until about 3 more years a total of 10. I also am at a high risk for a secondary cancer but was told to go back to my family doctor. She did say I could continue to see her but since a lot of my issues are not considered cancer related she was not really all that interested. I did have a dust up with her over the Covid Vaccine and it did get heated but she did not leave me feeling anymore confident about getting it because I have other issues due to my chemo. I take full responsibility for my part because it is a heated issue but like I stated she really was not interested in my concerns and told me to go back to my family doctor. Over all I felt kind of neglected and thrown aside because I am cured *thank you DR ANGEVINE AND ALL THE NURSES!!! but nothing was really wrapped up for me in terms of suggestions other than going to my MD who basically called me stupid but that is another story. I know the doctors are stressed because of everything going on but this did not help me but left me more confused about things I need to do in the future and TBH I don't want to go back to either doctor. Although Dr Sokol did invite me to come see her again, if I god forbid have any issues come up in the future I would rather see another doctor or nurse there. Right now I really am tired of doctors and am done. I love what everyone at the Bennett Center did for me but this was not how I wanted things to be wrapped up. But will forever be greatful for everyone there who helped me! But I wanted you to know about my experience with the new doctor and this was my first time seeing her and hopefully the last she really had me in tears when I left. It would be nice if someone could reach out so I could get some closure but I am not hopeful

I am writing to articulate serious concerns regarding the patient experience at MSK, Harrison,…read morespecifically pertaining to my scheduled appointments with my oncologist and subsequent infusion treatments. As a patient requiring frequent visits for blood work, and critical infusions, the efficiency and comfort of these visits are paramount to my ongoing care and well-being. All my experiences have been consistently characterized by excessively prolonged wait times, often extending two hours or more beyond my scheduled appointment times for both my physician and infusion therapy. This creates a deeply challenging and, frankly, disheartening situation, particularly given the already demanding nature of chemo treatments. A significant source of distress is the perception that patient safety and comfort, particularly for those with weakened immune systems like myself, are not being adequately prioritized. Being confined to crowded waiting areas for extended periods not only exacerbates physical fatigue but also presents a heightened risk of infection. The operational practices observed, such as seemingly pervasive overbooking and the resulting congestion in patient waiting rooms, strongly suggest that the current scheduling system is not effectively managing patient flow or capacity. This systemic inefficiency significantly detracts from the quality of care and transforms what should be a supportive and efficient medical environment into a source of considerable stress and anxiety. I am leaving MSK, Harrison and moving to an environment that is not only medically excellent but also compassionate, respectful of patient time, and prioritizes the safety and comfort of all individuals seeking care....unfortunately, this is not the place.

Their administration is the most useless bunch of paper handling, money seeking leeches i have ever encountered. And when they really mess up, they will not talk to you while repeating over and over how much they care about MY health. If you value your life, I suggest you run from them to any other facility. Edit. To be clear, the person to person staff was very caring. I dont have any issues from the actual care i received from the nursing staff. They have no more control over the system than I do. My issue is TOTALLY WITH ADMINISTRATION. THE PROBLEMS ARRISE BECAUSE THEY RREFUSE TO HIRE ENOUGH PEOPLE TO DO THE WORK, apparently relying on the new magic internet and paiient portals to save them.

I like to mention the rest of the staff: From the free car valet service, to the front desk staff, John and Nicole in scheduling who make future appointments a breeze; I have no complaints. You're not on a Disney world vacation; this is reassuring and a source of comfort. In what can be a scary situation. Housekeeping keeps the buildings and grounds spotless.

Also, every time I go, the secretaries tell me that my appointment is a different day/time. EVERY TIME I GO! So then I am left with waiting 1.5 hours for a bus ride home, for I cannot drive. They are unorganized, so I stopped going there and switched to Stony Brook Hospital Hematologists. I first tried seeing Dr. Yelda Nouri. She quickly stated something briefly. Then she rushed me out the door. I tried to ask some questions. She replied in about five words. Then she left the room to make more money by seeing more patients. She does not care about patient's health; works only for money. Dr. Nawaz is brilliant and kind, yet runs 45-60 minutes late. The Patchogue location has poor quality sensors for the water to turn on in the restrooms. The water turned on for only one second, off four seconds; on again for one second; then no more water at all from the faucet. I have never experienced such poor water sensors before. I almost began to bleed caused by so-called blood specialists. They seem to have no idea what causes eczema. My fingers within two minutes became cracked, peeling and almost bleeding from this location. Patients with eczema, beware. In general, NY Cancer and Blood Specialists has some good doctors, some not so good, and the quality of everything else is poor.

Compassionate, understanding and goes over and beyond for patient care. I'm really not just saying this, he is truly incredible. Dr. Ian Horkheimer specializes in hematology and medical oncology and is board certified in both. For many years, he has been treating patients in the Little Silver community. Dr. Horkheimer received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin. He completed his residency at Washington University-Barnes/Jewish Hospital in internal medicine and conducted his fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center in hematology and medical oncology.

He was patient, informative and has a fantastic bedside manner. I was a mess at the time and he looked past it and helped to settle my nerves. As for the staff, you had some good and some bad. Most of the nurses are great. The woman who make the appointments were always helpful as well. Once and a while I had or saw someone else have some trouble with a particular girl at the front desk. I also had some issues with a couple of the woman giving transfusions. For one they would barely introduce themselves and then Im hard to stick and they would make it obvious when they were annoyed. These things make an uncomfortable situation worse. I add this in because no matter how great a doctor is he is only as good as his staff will allow. Overall my experience here was a 7 out of 10 and if I had any problems I would go back without hesitation.
