Based solely on NOT going here, I have to say the cancelation penalty is harsh. I made a reservation thinking it was for the following week and was surprised to get a call the next day asking where I was. I made the mistake. No question. ARCELIA AAND CARMEN ARE AMAZING HAIRSTYLISTS. I have gotten 2 color and cut services from Carmen. She did a root melt with lowlights and it turned out beautiful. Her cut was on trend and had lots of movement. Her personality is great, she is not pushy or arrogant. She is very personable. Arcelia has done hand tied weft extensions on me, as well as a cut and color. All were flawless, the extensions were so comfortable and lasted 8 weeks. These two ladies are my hair girls for life!!! The salon is so nice but not too fancy so that anyone can enter and feel welcomed. The prices are great too! read more

Carmen did an absolutely incredible job on my hair for my wedding. I cannot say enough good things about her expertise and creativity with hair. We started with the wedding day hair trial- Carmen took her time to look at my photos from all my idea boards and had such a good eye for what would look good with my hair type and face. We tried several styles until we nailed down the final look. My hair looked put together, but also effortless- which is such a testament to how incredible Carmen is. He is always very attentive and has worked diligently on my thick hair to thin it in the right places to keep it under control with great style. I was in search of a new stylist when I remembered seeing the sign for chair. My hair was driving me nuts so I took a chance. Allison, a new to the area stylist was available. She was very friendly and didn't give off any, how do I put it, stuck up vibe. I told her what I wanted and she delivered. The one thing I don't let stylists do is actually style my hair after the cut. Most want to add some product, scrunch and blow dry my hair into some crazed Shirley Temple hair do. After a couple months I went back and got another cut from Allison. Finally, I went back when once again I'd let my hair go for to long and it was in serious need of a cut. This time however when Allison asked if she could style my hair I let her give it a try. I had been pretty specific about why I never let anyone style my hair and she was listening. For the first time I actually liked how someone styled my hair. I admit, I did tweak the bangs just a little when I got home but I didn't have to rinse and restyle my hair as I often had to in the past. In fact, she did such a good job that I didn't need to do anything to it the following morning. I watched what she had done and while I can't quite get the back to look the same, I do pretty good with the rest. I will have to ask her what she used on my hair as it felt very silky and soft. I can't speak for the rest of the stylists but I can highly recommend Allison. read more

I saw Angela and oh my gosh she is the absolute best. I was a bit hesitant to schedule at a new place, new person and after this year of COVID. I decided to go online and found the Chair (several of my coworkers love this place) I found the option to book an appointment , choose my services, see the price and dates/times available and bam it was booked. I walked in and everyone was extremely friendly. Angela called me back and made me feel very comfortable, she exceeded my expectations, and my hair looks and feels amazing. I have thick, curly (not the nice soft curl) so my hair is extremely hard to work with and she was able to make it look incredible. I received so many compliments today and felt so good to finally look and feel good. I loved the online appointment scheduling, and was completely satisfied with my haircut and style! The Chair is not in downtown Durango, so if you want to avoid the crowd and tourists, give it a try. Free parking in the lot, and a nice modern/industrial decor inside. My cut/style was $45, which I think is kind of expensive, but I've heard it's reasonable for Durango. read more

I love the atmosphere at The Chair. The salon carries Bumble & bumble which I absolutely LOVE! I am always offered a beverage. The enormous picture windows with views of the mountains are breathtaking! There are always fresh flower arrangements and new art or photography on the walls. The stylists are great!! They all have great skills and are super trendy. It's industrial glam decor with great music & even better hair!! What a gem in Durango!! AND there is actual parking, unlike downtown. I'd rather cut my own hair than get another Deva Cut here. The salon was nice and employees very friendly, but the cut was unsatisfactory. He used the Deva method when cutting, but my flowing layers turned into three very blunt rows. I ended up with triangle head! What makes it worse, I couldn't tell I had triangle head when leaving because I had to leave with wet hair. The stylist said he didn't know how to dry it with making it frizzy....what? Is that like Deva 101?? I ended up cutting it myself when I got home. I do not recommend getting your Deva Cut here. It is overpriced, at $75, and the stylist is undertrained. read more

The Chair did hair and makeup for my wedding for myself and 4 of my bridesmaids. They did an AWESOME job, and I couldn't be happier! Their prices for updos were the best I'd found in the area, and including a trial for my updo sealed the deal. Bree was the one who did my hair and makeup and she did awesome! All the other girls in the salon seemed awesome as well. Day of, Bree worked with me to get the look absolutely right, and both her and the other stylist got us out of the salon half hour before we were expecting which was HUGE because it gave us more time to relax before the wedding festivities started. I have already recommended them to a couple of friends and I will continue to do so! read more
