    The old restaurant building.

The old owner has forgotten basic manners. Too rude now. I wouldn't consider spending the money at a restaurant where common courtesy isn't a priority.

Bev and Pierre have done it again! What a spectacular dinner out on the patio with a view of deep cove. Our family loved the meal. Highly recommend the hot avocado starter, the beef Wellington as a main and no trip to the Chalet is complete without a Grand Marnier Soufflé! You will not be disappointed!

Good thing we called ahead because this restaurant doesn't except walk ins . First impressions; beautiful restaurant with a lovely garden on the waters edge. . What struck me as odd was not one staff member was wearing a mask ? The tables weren't spaced out like most other restaurants. In fact the table less than six feet from us had a guest loudly discussing the fact she had had covid. I ordered a seafood salad & escargot, my spouse the pan roasted salmon . The young waiter serving us asked what I waited as my main . I explained that I preferred to order a few small plates instead of a main . He said that the chef required all guest to order a main . This policy was not stated on there web site ,or ion there printed menu or anywhere in the restaurant. I said well you better go ask your chef if how I want to order is going to be ok because if it's not we can leave . ....... a few moments later the waiter returned to say the chef would allow it. I have to say this interaction put a damper on our experience. It wasn't like we did spend money in this restaurant. Our bill was $145. Before tip . Food wise the seafood salad was good ,escargot was horrible. The salmon excellent .we each ordered a soufflé .one lemon & one orange . The were served with a cold custard sauce. .

Another wonderful evening at Deep Cove Chalet. Our guests had the incredible (and generous) Beef Wellington. My wife had quail (just the slightest bit tough) and I had delicious scallops. Service was good. Not as attentive as a $600 plus bill would imply. The wine list is fantastic. We went with a Okanagan Black Hills Nota Bene ($65 in the liquor store, $135 at the Chalet). But the best was saved for last. Truly world class Grand Marnier soufflés. Incredible!

We ate here when we visiting Sidney a couple of months ago. The food and service were very good, but it's the "room" here that is superb--at least if you're on the terrace. What a lovely setting for lunch or dinner! So, when you make your reservation, be sure and ask if you can have a table on the terrace. They have a very extensive wine list, and don't even think about bringing something of your own. It's a classy place, but if you're there during the summer, dressy shorts and a polo shirt are perfectly acceptable--but no flip-flops.

If you are traveling to Victoria BC, and you love classic French fine dining this is a HAVE TO spot to visit. It's a bit of a drive out of Vic, 25 min. it's worth it! The setting is gorgeous, try to book around sunset. Menu items are varied and very well priced. If you love wine, the list is a dream and again very well priced. These places are fading away, I fear when Pierre (chef/manager) and his gracious wife, Bev, go this place will disappear and another great dining spot will be lost. Try it now and then go back again and again.

I also loved my frozen espresso martini - The wine list was great and reasonably priced - The food was delicious and a great price for the quality. The brown sugar tart dessert, for example, was so good and tasted a bit like an amazing cheesecake. All the appetizers and mains were perfect too! As we were finishing dinner around 8:30 pm-ish on Friday night, new guests arrived for their Happy Hour which included great food options (that we skipped since we were full from dinner) and specialty cocktails were around $13. Such a great price for such delicious and fun drinks! We'd hoped to come back the following night again but ended up getting tied up with kids' bedtime and missed it. We were bummed since we really wanted to go back to try the Happy Hour and more cocktails!

We ordered quite a few items, the beef tartare, the French onion soup, the chicken liver pate, he got the rib eye and I got the duck confit. The tartare and French onion soup were both out standing. Delicious. The chicken liver pate was a good portion and also quite tasty. The steak was good but not phenomenal and for 96 dollars it should have been. The duck confit was bad. Too salty and so dry. I had one bite, took it to go and threw it in the trash. We had a cocktail each and two beers each. The service was pretty slow and not super attentive and missed things. The bill came to 400 dollars. I personally wouldn't go back, I live in Vancouver and there are so many better restaurants. Maybe this place is good for Victoria? My partner had a good time still and that's what mattered And finally we didn't order dessert but it was my partners birthday and they gave him a candle that was just on a little plate... most places will have a small dessert or something that they provide for birthdays. It was really tacky and made the whole evening seem a little cheap and odd.

Love the European Wine Bar/French Bistro vibes they have going and it's located in the cute Fernwood neighbourhood. Love their approach on French-inspired foods and showcasing seasonal local fresh veggies and plating it differently. The food is fresh and light, which is always nice for a French restaurant. We got the local crudités served with the eggplant roasted dip and it was a delight. The tomatoes were fresh and I appreciated the various textures, depth and flavours. The dishes are great for sharing. Love the pomme frites. The BBQ shishitos were a treat! The bread and butter were phenomenal. I believe that it is freshly baked. The service was amazing! They have a great ever-changing wine list from Europe as well as different parts of Canada. In addition, they have amazing cocktails. Unfortunately, Stage fell a little short for us. We had sent an email in advance mentioning that we are pescatarians and do not eat meat. We were very excited to try their fish offerings (Halibut and Rockfish) off the menu that night but our waitress informed us that the kitchen wouldn't be able to make any changes to the dishes and that some meat products were used in both fish options. We were very disappointed, especially since the food is so good. I recommend and advise that if you have two fish offerings, at least leave one completely pescatarian and free of meat products. We also didn't want to opt for the warm potato salad with mackerel since we had already had the pomme frites. As a result, we did not have a suitable protein option that night. This was the only thing that ticked us off, considering the level of care and pride they take with the food in their restaurant.
