    Steak Sandwich

A delightful little spot with a pleasant atmosphere and nice outdoor patio with heaters and blankets. Service was amazing. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food looks great but does lack a little bit of flavor for the level of presentation. The drinks are unique and meticulously manufactured and the wine list is reasonably priced and the selection is solid. All in all, a place worth stopping in if you are nearby.

Vis a vis is on Oak bay avenue and shares a kitchen with the Penny Farthing next door. It's very small and quite loud inside, but cute and they've got the French theme going. I was seated and waited for the rest of my group to arrive. After 10 minutes I asked for a cappuccino. I had mentioned on the reservation it was a birthday celebration, but no one noted it. I was told however there was a reservation set for our table in two hours. We had some of the new menu items - the octopus salad (meh) and a scallop soufflé (excellent). The French onion soup was only mediocre and the winter salad good. My mussels were good but expensive at $33. An average lunch.

Vis a Vis is Penny Farthing's (whom I'm a huge fan of) sister restaurant. We went for dinner and it was one of the best meals my husband and I have had in ages. We just loved everything about this place. The food was unbelievably good and it's got the ultimate candlelit cozy French bistro vibe. The gnocchi with braised beef was sensational. Our server Chris deserves a shout out. As well as single handedly looking after the entire restaurant, he acted as busboy, bartender, barista, served the outdoor patio, emptied the dishwasher and disinfected tables. All the while never losing his cool and doing it all flawlessly and with a smile. Management should triple his salary or Gordon Ramsey will snap him up.

Vis a Vis is located in the Oak Bay Beach neighbourhood in Victoria. We decided to try this restaurant out for dinner. It's a casual French bistro with classic dishes such as French Onion Soup, steak tartare, mussels and steak frites. We ordered a couple of drinks to start. They had watermelon cocktails which sounded yummy but there was a lack of watermelon flavour. For the food, we ordered French Onion Soup, Escargot and shared the steak frites. All of the food was delicious. My friend even said that it was the best French Onion Soup she had ever had! Would definitely recommend a visit here if you're in the area.

I'm happy I made the 9 before 9, otherwise I couldn't justify paying full price for my meal. The French toast was bland, strawberries didn't add any acidic/tart flavour, whipped cream had orange which I could not taste. Overall nothing special. My partner ordered the Salmon Benedict which was a lot smaller than anticipated. Also while we were having a deep conversation a server (not ours) stood at the end of the table, and then interrupted to ask about the food. I found this very rude. We were interrupted every 5 mins. I did however really enjoy the decor, the outdoor patio is very cute.

A sailor who used to live in Oak Bay told us his favorite restaurant was this place and we should visit. Do we did and we loved it. We had wonderful specialty cocktails, a bottle of wine, mussels with parmesan truffle frites, beef bourguignon, and enjoyed it all plus dessert & coffee. Friendly staff, Govinda our server and bar tender was personable and attentive. Beautiful decor and highly recommend it to all.

Had a lovely lunch in this cozy French bistro that has indoor and outdoor seating on the pretty Main Street in Oak Bay. I always order Salade Nicoise whenever it's on the menu, and this was one of the best ever. The tuna was served in a small jar poached in olive oil, served on a plate with butter lettuce, roasted tomatoes and fingerling potatoes, olives, a beautiful halved boiled egg, fried capers, and pickled string beans. Husband had a delicious Moroccan spiced lamb burger with fries. Service was friendly and efficient. The feature that really sold me was actual terry towels in the bathroom rather than paper towels! Classy!

Sexy cozy atmosphere Amazing menu that I will dream about Epic service with a smile (thank you Gareth!!!) Need I say more?! Reservations highly recommended, and the flourless cake with marshmallow is off the chain!

Lunch menu with lots of options.

The main of the flat iron with arugala on the top with fries. They plated it and served it with a slug in it. The slug fell from inside the salad onto the plate . A baby slug. But it was living and moving. What followed was poor response and gaslighting of which this restaurant should be ashamed. In order not to disgust the others I stopped a woman that was working the floor to remove the plate. When I pointed to the slug why gave a small chuckle and half smile and stated, "well, it is farm to table." That is gaslighting. Right there that was a poor response. I see signs saying Michelin on this restaurant, but really...if you had served a slug to a someone rating you for a Michelin, you think you would get that rating? Highly doubtful. That should never have been served. Yes the restaurant cooked another meal which took longer. They cooked it just fine too....however their lackluster and empty words of well we do say it's farm to table doesn't replace an apology or an assurance of we will do better.

The atmosphere was alright with dimmer lighting than other similar places which was nice for the mood, and the place was surprisingly louder than expected for the little people that were there. The waitress we had was friendly and nice, but also came by frequently to ask if we were done looking at the menu, with our food, wanting the bill. It felt very rushed despite there not being many other customers in the area. We were only in the restaurant for about 45 minutes today. The food was mediocre. I had the fried chicken and waffles, which looked good but tasted generic. The fried chicken was a bit dry and just tasted like it was seasoned with salt and pepper and that's about it. The waffle tasted like something anyone could make at home. My friend had the Caesar salad, which was drenched in sauce but otherwise looked alright. Overall, the food is on the pricier side, relative to the portion size being served. Expect to spend at least $30 to be full, not including drinks and dessert.

I was pleasantly surprised by the food, but the ambiance is pretty average. We ordered an arugula salad, margarita pizza and funghi pizza. All tasted good and the pizzas were wood fired with a decent crust. Ingredients seemed fresh so overall hit the spot. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and funny which was a plus! Unfortunately they do not offer a kids menu (so all pizzas are the somewhat high price of $18-19 a pop). You must enter the hotel and then it is located next to the Starbucks. As a result you very much feel like you are having pizza on the cheaper, less desirable side of a Starbucks. The restaurant itself is small and lacks much character, although it has some windows that have a decent view of a sunset until the construction next door blocks the view.
